Hello, hello Friends! I hope you all have had a great week. I’m sorry to say that I am still nursing that cold…… but at this point, I hardly even care. Because finally the 2016 CHA Mega Show is underway, and that means I can start showing the projects I’ve been working on this past month, along with lots and lots of fun new products! And everyone loves new products, right? I have had the absolute honor and pleasure of designing for some amazing people and companies this year, and I can’t wait to share. So today I thought I’d kick things off with probably my most favorite project from the show, made for Tim Holtz’s Sizzix Alterations booth.
Yes, more of those adorable Bird Crazy birds. After all, CHA is one giant party, and what says party better than those crazy birds? It’s even more of a celebration when they are mixed with new Tim Holtz goodies, and there are lots of them here, including the new Mini Clipboard from Idea-ology, along with some of the new Substrate Sheets. And of course, new Sizzix Alterations dies.
If you’ve been following the sneak peeks on Tim’s blog this past week, you probably recognize this cool new die used to create the backdrop for these crazy birds. This is the new Mosaic Bigz Die, and because it’s a Bigz die, that means it can die cut all sorts of surfaces besides paper, such as chipboard, fabric, foam, thin metal, cork, you name it. I made several projects with this die, and I think you’re going to be excited about all the possibilities. Not only does it give you this fabulous framework that I used here, which is perfect for all sorts of collage work, it also die cuts the perfectly sized pieces to fit the Idea-ology Fragments. Now how awesome is that?
I can see all sorts of fun scenes being built around this framework. And if you turn the frame upside down, or flip it and use the back side, you get even more configurations to work with. Really love that. And isn’t the new Mini Clipboard amazing, too? Perfectly sized to fit mini works of art, or even your standard A2 sized card base, like this party card. And you guys will have to check out the new Substrate Sheets that I used in the background, to see all the fun things you can do with these new textured papers.
Last, but not least, on this fun project is the scalloped border made with the new Stitched Ovals Thinlits die set. Although stitching is nothing new, these new dies that come in both oval and rectangular shapes feature hand-stitching for a unique and handmade look that truly sets them apart from the others.
