Just My Type with Photoplay Paper

Hello, hello friends, thanks for stopping by! It’s a happy day here at my house… a BIG day! My little missy Nik turns 20 years old today! Time for some happy celebrations! And a perfect time to share this card I made for Creativation (CHA) with Photoplay Paper’s adorable Mad4Plaid Happy collection.

I just can’t help but smile over this bright and fun line, and those silly plaid pups get me every time. This sweet guy is perched at his typewriter, writing a little love note. I added stickers to one of the 3×4 journaling cards to create my scene, and pieced a snippet of another at the bottom of it to create a tag design for the front of the card, and go along with my writer’s theme.

A pair of plaid prints were layered with one of the larger 4×6 journaling cards for the background. I popped up some elements with foam tape for dimension, and finished off the tag with a bit of twine.

Hope this lovely Friday finds you all very Happy! And hope you have a wonderful weekend, too! We are actually predicted to get a wee bit of snow again on Saturday. Crazy!

Seek Happiness with Ranger Ink

Happy Wednesday, crafty friends!

I’m back today with another card that I made for the Creativations (CHA) show in January. This time, a fun Distress project for the Ranger Ink booth featuring the new Funky Floral #1 dies by Tim Holtz.

The Funky Floral dies are one of my favorite new sets from Tim’s CHA release. I love that this set has lots of dies for building lots of different flowers. The stacking possibilities are really endless, and the flowers look great in all sorts of different color ways. Last time I shared this set in bright and happy colors of spring. And today, I’m going with a more elegant red and gold floral pattern set against crisp black cardstock, reminiscent of the style design of Rifle Paper Company’s amazing stationery line.

I die cut the flowers and leaves from a mixture of gold, black, and watercolor cardstock, and inked the flowers in two shades of red Distress inks. The pieces were stacked and arranged into a outline frame design, and layered with papers to pull all the colors together. Distress Crayon was added to the edges of the papers and the black stems, too. The sentiment is a combo of a Clippings Idea-ology sticker with one of the word dies from the Shadow Script #3 dies, part of the upcoming April Alterations release.

Hope your week is going great so far! Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Letter It Thanks with Ranger Ink

Happy Monday, Friends! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Today I’m sharing a card project that I made for the Creativations (CHA) show in January for the Ranger Ink booth featuring their artsy new Letter It collection.

If you haven’t checked out the Letter It collection yet, you should take a peek at all the fun products available in the line. For my card here, I focused on stamps and embossing ink, and seeing how many ways I could use the beautiful metallic gold Perfect Pearls powder. According to the descriptive information, these powders are specially developed with a built in resin, and are easy to use wet or dry. So I tried it out both ways.

One of the fun things you can do with Perfect Pearls powders is to combine them with water and a water brush or paintbrush for painted pearlescent watercolor effects. And that’s what I did here with the Flutter butterfly background panel. I used a mix of Distress Inks and gorgeous Sunflower Sparkle powder to add color to the butterflies, which were stamped in clear embossing powder onto Letter It Ivory Cardstock.

The bold sentiment image is from the Letter It Thank You stamp set, which was also stamped with embossing ink and brushed with the gold powder. The edges of the black panel were pressed into the ink and brushed with powder to match. And then for a dry technique, I simply brushed powder onto some ivory photo corners to tie everything together.

I do love the Letter It product line, and am looking forward to playing with it more. And if any of you are interested in trying it out, be sure to check out the awesome sale at Scrapbook.com right now on all Ranger products! Woo Hoo!

Smiles with Photoplay Paper Mad4Plaid Happy

Happy Monday, friends! We’ve just finished up spring break here at our house, and although my kiddos keep busy these days, this happy mom got to spend the last several days hanging out with my girl. We packed a ton into three short days, and I miss her like crazy already…. but my heart is full and happy. So today I thought it was fitting to share a card I made for the Creativations (CHA) show with Photoplay Paper’s Mad4Plaid Happy collection.

Mad4Plaid Happy has the cutest little dog images throughout the collection. This one here is from one of the cut-apart journaling card sheets. I simply added a small twine bow for accent, and layered the card with banner strips and bright patterned papers.

An Elements sticker for a quick and easy card sentiment.  Matte enamel dots add a touch of dimension. I snipped a couple of tiny squares of paper in half for photo corner embellishments.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have an amazing day!

Where Flowers Bloom with Therm O Web

Happy Monday, friends! Thanks for stopping by!

Today I have a card to share that I made for the Therm O Web booth at the Creativations (CHA) 2018 show. You all may remember that I had mentioned new and innovative products coming soon to the deco foil line-up, and today I am excited to share some of these new goodies with you. Including stamps that you can ink and foil, like these pretties here, from the new Stampn’Foil Where Flowers Bloom collection.

To launch this new line-up of products, Therm O Web is releasing three different Stampn’Foil sets. There’s butterflies, and birthday cakes, and this beautiful set of flowers. What’s very cool about these products is that you can use the stamps on their own, and simply ink them up like any regular stamp. Or, you can use them in conjunction with the coordinating toner Details Sheets, and add foil to your stamped images. Or use a combination of all of the above, like I’ve done here.

Included in the new Stampn’Foil collection are dies for easy cutting. And of course there are new colors of Deco Foil, including this sparkly Dazzling Orange color. And there are new background Foil-Mates designs, too, like the pretty vine pattern here.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial for this project up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Mad 4 Plaid Happy Hooray with Photo Play Paper

Hip Hip Hooray! It’s Fri-YAY!
Every time the weekend rolls around feels like cause for a little celebration, right? So today I thought it was fitting to share this happy, celebratory card that I made for the Creativations (CHA) show featuring the adorable new Mad4Plaid Happy collection from Photo Play Paper.

This adorable collection is a continuation of PhotoPlay’s ever-popular Mad 4 Plaid series. And as the name suggests, the line is filled with fabulous plaid prints in a range of scales and designs with a bright and happy color palette so perfect for spring. And if you’re a dog-lover like me, or just a fan of the cutest little critters ever, then this latest line is sure to leave you feeling, well….. happy!

For my card, I used alternating layers of crisp white cardstock mixed with a range of plaids from the patterned papers. The cute doggy, the flower, and the hooray banner are cardstock stickers, popped up onto one of the cut-apart journaling cards. I added little twine bows and an awesome new matte enamel dot to the dog’s collar, too.

Creativation 2018- Straight Up Amazing with Photo Play Paper

Hello, everyone! And happy Monday to you! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was a quiet one for me, but I have to say that I really enjoy that sometimes. It’s rare when I don’t have to work at all… but this weekend I was completely free. So I took advantage of the extra down time by logging lots of hours of Olympics. And working on a puzzle. And even starting on some spring prims for my shop. Boy, did it feel nice to do nothing for a bit! 😀

Today I’m sharing another card I made for the Photo Play Paper Creativations booth. This sweet, girly card features their new Gypsy Rose line. And I am truly crazy about the soft and pretty colors and prints in this gorgeous collection.

Most of the design on this card focuses on the cut-apart journaling card sheet. I snipped apart and layered three of the blocks to create the focal panel here. The brown floral journaling card in the center is the main one. The sentiment, and the banner behind it, and the strips of pink at the top and the bottom, are all parts of several other journaling cards, too.

I added some scalloped borders, and strips of patterned paper mixed with sticker strips. The beautiful butterfly was popped up on foam dots for a touch of depth and dimension.

*P.S.- Enabler Alert! *

Creativation 2018- Paper Crane with Photo Play Paper

Hello, hello, friends, and thanks for stopping by! Hope you all are having a wonderful week! Today I’m back with another card I created for the Creativations (CHA) 2018 show. This time, a card for the Photo Play Paper booth featuring their super adorable new collection, Paper Crane.

This card is a 5×5 design, with lots of layers of the pretty papers and a staggered die cut pattern of circles and squares. I added crisp white cardstock to set off the background, and inked the round window to match the beautiful teal color of the papers in this line. A bit of twine pulls out the color of the bonsai tree.

One of my favorite elements from this new collection are the layered stickers, which I used here mixed with cardstock stickers to create the focal point of the design. Love the extra dimension from the stacked stickers… and the bit of sparkle from the glittered areas, too.

Paper Crane will be available this month and is shipping soon! And best thing is, all Photo Play Paper products (including this one) are currently on sale at Scrapbook.com!

Creativation 2018- Gypsy Rose with Photo Play Paper

Hi sweet friends, and happy Thursday! As you all can see from my irregular blogging schedule, I still haven’t managed to find my regular groove yet in 2018… but I do believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The big Creativation (CHA) trade show was this past weekend in Phoenix, AZ, and now that it’s come and gone, I am free to start sharing some of the new products I’ve had the great pleasure to play with this past month. Starting today with this beautiful new collection from Photo Play Paper called Gypsy Rose.

I know you all know by now what a fan I am of neutral colors. Such a beautiful color palette in this line of bold black and warm creamy browns mixed with a range of pinks from soft and dreamy to the color of deep, rich wine. ❤
For this card, I started with the fun diagonal stripe in the background, and then layered the base with several of the journaling cards from the cut apart sheet. The lovely woodgrain and floral print piece is a 4×6 journaling card, trimmed down a bit to fit my card front. And the sweet little deer is a 4×4 journaling card from the same sheet. What’s fun about this cut apart paper is that there are three different sizes of cards to choose from, giving you lots and lots of design options.

I popped up a banner Elements sticker with foam tape for the sentiment, and tied the card with twine. The photo corners are 1″ squares of patterned paper that I snipped in half diagonally for a quick and easy accent.

Gypsy Rose is shipping now, for those who want to take a peek! I’ll link you to all the supplies below. Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Creativation 2017- Life is Wonderful with Tim Holtz

Hiya Crafty Friends! Happy Wednesday!

Today I have another one of my Tim Holtz Creativation show projects to share, and this time, it’s something a little bit different. I know you all have seen me playing with this fabulous new Scroll Bigz die on several projects I’ve shared already. But today I’m bringing the Scroll die out of the background accent pieces and into the spotlight with this shabby altered home decor panel.

I’ve really loved using the Scroll die cuts as flourishes and leafy green accents mixed with floral bouquets, but for this project, I wanted to show how you can use these pieces all on their own, too. And since the Scroll die is a Bigz die, that means you can die cut all sorts of materials besides your standard paper, like the chipboard I used here, die cut and stacked up three deep for lots of depth and dimension.

I find that I have certain colors that I tend to gravitate to over and over. But for this project, I challenged myself to use Distress colors that I often overlook, and I’m so glad I did. I really love this combo of Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans, and Weathered Wood, applied in a watercolor wash over the surface that was pre-coated first in a layer of paint. I added some stamping to the scrolls in matching Distress ink, and then finished with Glossy Accents once everything was dry.

I love how the vibrant color of the scrolls pops against the neutral background. That is some of the new Memoranda Paper, brushed with paint, inked, splattered, and stamped, on one of the backing boards from the new Mini Framed Panels. New Idea-ology tissue tape on the edges, and a bit of Distress marker work to create a frame.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a very wonderful day!
