Cityscape Suburbia with Sizzix

Hiya Crafty Friends! Happy Wednesday. Hope your weeks are going great so far!

Last week I had a tutorial up on the Sizzix blog, and today I wanted to share my project here with you, too. A set of shabby Distress tags, made with the fabulous new Cityscape die collection by Tim Holtz for Sizzix.

I think this new collection is so much fun. And as always, I am blown away by the intricacy and detail of these Tim Holtz Thinlits dies. If you take a close look, you can see all the tiny individual pieces that make up each structure, all in separate dies for you to use and layer however you wish. I love that this collection comes with entire city scenes in border dies, or individual build-as-you-go city pieces, like I’ve used here today. With so many buildings, as well as trees and shrubs, and even a complete transportation die set to choose from, the creative possibilities seem endless.

I think these new sets would be great for travel themes and art journals, or friendship cards across the miles. Or how about Happy Holidays from my house to yours? Think I might have to give that one a try.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial for these tags up on the Sizzix blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Hippity Hoppity with Ranger Ink

Happy Friday, Sweet Friends! Here’s to the start of a long holiday weekend!

Hippity Hoppity Card by Audrey Pettit |

I hope you all have fun plans for the weekend. I actually didn’t have any at all until my boy texted yesterday morning to say he was coming home. And my Missy Nik is coming over tonight, too, so now my wee tiny family will be complete….. and this ol’ momma’s heart is very full.

Today I have one last Easter project to share. A little Crazy card that I made for the Ranger Ink blog with those silly Tim Holtz Crazy Cats and lots of shabby Distress fun. I do get such a kick out of these crazy critters with their crazy expressions. And I absolutely love that there is a line of accessories that coordinate with all the crazy animals, and work for every holiday and season, making it super easy to turn a cat into this year’s Easter Bunny.

This silly trio was stamped in Archival ink and watercolored with Distress inks, with their eyes layered in a coat of Glossy Accents. I went from light to dark coloring on the cats, and accented the final one with silly bunny ears and one of the new Idea-ology Bouquet flowers. Love that you can paint, ink, or stain those flowers to match any project.

The patterned papers are from the new Memoranda Paper Stash, mixed with Distress and shiny Metallic cardstocks, all heavily sanded for a nice aged finish. I added a sentiment from the coordinating Crazy Talk stamp set, and some dyed crinkle ribbon, too. The background was created with the Measured layering stencil.

I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial up on the Ranger Ink blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a very blessed and joyous holiday weekend!

Creativation 2017- Forever with Tim Holtz & Sizzix

Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Monday to you!

We had the most wack-a-do weather here this weekend. After weeks of an unseasonably warm winter and temperatures well into the 70’s, we woke up to snow on the ground yesterday. In March! Snow! That truly is unheard of around here.

Fortunately, the weather didn’t stop me from having some crafty fun with my crafty gang at my jewelry-making party yesterday. I need to take some photos and share with you some of the pieces I’ve been creating. I think I’m hooked on this jewelry thing.. because I need another hobby, right? But for now, I’ll share one of my card creations instead.

This is one of my Creativation CHA cards that I had the honor of creating for Tim Holtz. This card features another fun background made with the new Leafy Texture Fades embossing folder. Really love the organic vibe to this pattern, and a great thing about this folder is that the design looks amazing from either side. This is the raised embossed version in kraft, colored with Distress Crayon. You may remember this card here where I used the de-bossed side with watercolor Distress. Either way, you get super cool results.

Lots of touches of gold in Deco cardstock and Distress Glitter Dust. The new Scroll Bigz die used as leafy greens mixed with the original Wildflowers die set. The patterned paper is from the new Memoranda Paper Stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Friends! Hope your week is off to a great start!

Tattered Love with Sizzix

Heya, Crafty Friends! Happy Friday!

Today I have a set of spring-inspired Sizzix tags to share with you, made with new products from the Tim Holtz collection.

Like many of you out there, I have been a long time fan of Tim Holtz’s “Tattered” line of Sizzix Alterations dies. The original Tattered Florals Bigz die was one of the very first Sizzix dies I ever purchased, and over the years I’ve collected the leaves and pinecones and tiny florals, too. So I’m sure, then, that it will come as no surprise that I was over-the-moon excited to see this latest addition to the Tattered family, Small Tattered Florals Thinlits.

I love the vintage feel to these tiny flowers. They put me in mind of the old-fashioned cabbage roses and peonies often found in grandma’s garden, or the cherry blossoms starting to line the streets of my neighborhood these days. A perfect homage to spring.

I love soft pastels for this time of year, so pulled out a variety of my favorite spring colors of Distress to use here, with matching colors of cardstock. And to complete my vintage look I added in a beautiful embossed background made with a new Tim Holtz Texture Fade, and some new Thinlits sentiment word dies, too.

If you’d like to learn more about this project, check out my full step-by-step tutorial on the Sizzix blog. And I’ll link you to the new supplies below.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a super wonderful weekend!

Winter Wishes with Ranger Ink

Hello, hello Friends!

Happy Monday! Hope you are doing well!¬† I’ve been missing visiting with you all lately, and I hope you will bear with me for just a little bit longer. The countdown is on now for CHA, and finally, I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But there’s still much left to do, and one final¬† week of crazy to get it all done. Can’t wait to start sharing what I’ve been up to, catch my breath a bit, and catch up with all of you. Soon….

I’ve been seeing lots of snow pictures on Facebook lately, and this weekend, we had our first snowfall of the year here in North Carolina, too. Not much of a snow right where I am, but it sure is pretty. And rather a rare occasion for us these days.

audreypettit-ranger-winterwishescardAlthough there’s not enough snow on the ground to build a real snowman, I thought it was fitting to share one with you today. So here’s a little frosty friend that I made for the Ranger blog, featuring a pretty winter Distress palette and lots of snowy dies from the Tim Holtz collection.

This sweet Assembly Snowman die that I used has a bit of a Christmas look to it in it’s original form. But by removing the top hat and holly leaves, and substituting in simple details and a pair of frosted pine cone charms, this holiday gent easily transforms into a winter woodland one, instead.

Of course a snowman needs a snowy scene, with a bit of ice and sparkle and shine, too. I’m glad we didn’t get quite this much snow, here in the real, though. Just enough for a card, will do!

And if you’re interested in learning more about this card, stop by and check out my full tutorial on the Ranger Ink blog.

Thanks for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!

Silent Night with Sizzix

Happy Friday, Crafty Friends!

Today is a happy day at my house. I’ve got both kiddos here snuggled under one roof, and this afternoon my parents arrive for a nice long holiday visit. Once they land, it truly feels like Christmas has arrived. Good thing, too, since it’s only about a week away. Are you all ready? Crossed everything off that holiday check list yet?

I’m in pretty good shape, although there are still last minute things to do. I need to wrap, perhaps even shop, and there are a few cards yet to mail. If you’re like me, and still need to get some cards out, I’ve got a super quick card idea to share with you today. This CAS holiday card is so easy to put together, and this basic design would work with just about any image or theme you need.

The key is to put to use some of those sticker sheets that we all tend to collection. For this card, I used a sentiment banner, holly leaf, and reindeer sticker from Echo Park’s I Love Christmas collection to create a quick holiday scene. And then dressed up the card with framework and embossing using some favorite Sizzix supplies. So quick and so easy to replicate, even last minute like this.

The emphasis on this card was mail-ability, but that doesn’t mean it has to lack detail. Just a bit of simple embossing adds a whole lot of character to a very CAS card. And a little window frame backed with patterned paper is an easy way to change the look while keeping the same design.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas with Therm O Web

Happy Friday, Crafty Friends!

And happy December! Can you believe we are starting the last month of the year? I am already starting to feel that holiday panic setting in. That worry that I won’t get everything finished in time. Silly, because I always do. But right now, that to-do list is looming large. Anyone else with me on that?

audreypettit-thermoweb-photoplaypaper-merrychristmassetAt least this year, I managed to start my Christmas cards early, which is pretty unheard of for me. Today I’m sharing a holiday gift set I made quite some time ago for Therm O Web, featuring my favorite chippy shabby way to use the iCraft Deco Foil sheets.

audreypettit-thermoweb-photoplaypaper-merrychristmasset2As you all know by now, I love the distressed finish you get from applying the foil with the liquid glue. I added shiny red foil to the frame and label on my card and pillow box, and then embellished Santa’s suit with foil, too. Because we all know the holidays are about that bling.

I die cut double-sided adhesive foam for the December 25th greeting for a more uniform foil coverage. And to dress up my gift set I pulled out lots of old favorites. Dies from Papertrey Ink and My Creative Time. A favorite old holiday Tim Holtz stamp and die set. Paper from Photo Play Paper’s debut release.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! My goal is to finish decorating my tree, and maybe get some shopping done. And I’m looking forward to Choux Choux Paper Art’s annual Visions of Sugar Plums blog hop, starting Sunday.

Hope to see you there!
