Have you seen the BIG news?
Tim Holtz has pre-released three new dies ahead of CHA. The most popular Sizzix design of all time, Tattered Florals, will be available in a new bigger Bigz XL Jumbo size. But that’s not all. Two complementary dies, Sizzlits Decorative Strip Spring Greenery die and Bigz Garden Green die, will complement the Tattered Florals die. They are available for pre-order at your local retailer!
To help get you inspired and ready for the new dies to hit the store shelves, the Sizzix design team has lined up a wide array of projects! Several times a week throughout the month Sizzix will be sharing a link to one of the designer’s blogs featuring a fabulous project showcasing the new dies. Today I am up, sharing how to use the new florals to create beautiful gift wrap, just in time for the holidays, and perfect for any time of year.
The Tattered Florals die has long been my favorite Sizzix die, so I was super excited to hear Tim was releasing a larger version. Such a beautiful blossom, isn’t it? And so much fun to make! The new Jumbo die comes with four different flowers and two leaves, for endless combinations. And since it’s a steel-rule die, it will cut many different materials, for even more creative possibilities.
Of course the die will cut paper, as always, but it will cut much more than that, too. For my blossom, I added in corrugated cardboard, white cotton fabric, and rugged natural linen. You could also try acetate or transparencies, thin sheet metals, cork, chipboard, wood veneer, and more.
Like sparkle? Try applying iCraft adhesive sheets to cardstock, and die cut your favorite shapes. Once the shapes are cut, peel off the liner….
…and cover with glitter, or mica, flocking, or foil.
If you like things on the shabby side, like I do, now is the time to grunge up your die cuts with paint, Distress inks, and a good scrunch in your hand.
And then build your flower, adding layers and textures and lots of pretty detail.
It’s just the perfect size for adding to a gift, in this case, a simple brown paper package wrapped up in ribbon and twine. I added a band of patterned paper under the trim and a sweet wooden tag, both from BasicGrey’s 25th & Pine collection.
Then I tucked a few branches die cut from the new Bigz Garden Greens Die around the flower, and topped it all off with a big brown vintage button in the center.
Hope I’ve given you some creative ideas for the fabulous new Tim Holtz dies. Be sure to tell your local retailer to pre-order them for you now! You can learn more about these amazing new dies on Tim’s blog here, or here at #Sizzix: http://www.sizzix.com/shop/th-tattered-floral-2013.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!
