Thanks a Bunch with Barista BasicGrey

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! Today I have a card to share featuring BasicGrey’s adorable Barista collection.
AudreyPettit BG Barista ThanksABunchCardThank you cards are always in high demand at my house, and I’ve been working on building up my stash of ready-made cards to keep on hand. Barista is such a perfect collection for this because the neutral colors works so well for any occasion and for anybody on my card-giving list. This week, I’ve made two Barista thank you cards to share on the BasicGrey blog, in both a masculine and a feminine version. And today I would love to share the feminine design here with you.

AudreyPettit BG Barista ThanksABunchCard2This card mixes Barista papers and embellishments with pretty floral and script stamps from the Tea Garden collection. I layered several papers from the 6×6 Paper Pad for the background, and then added in a variety of banner strips for extra detail.

AudreyPettit BG Barista ThanksABunchCard3I pulled in lots of yellow to bring out the more feminine side of the collection, and added a few girly details like stitching, candy buttons, the elegant frame, and of course those pretty stamps. The flowers were water-colored with Distress Markers, then fussy cut and added to the frame opening using foam dots for dimension. A light brush of Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the flower petals adds a final girly touch.

My second card, the masculine version, is up on the BasicGrey blog, if you’d like to see more. Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Pretty Sweet with BasicGrey & Spellbinders

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden PrettySweetCard

Some of you may remember that Spellbinder’s has recently been celebrating the release of their brand new Sapphire machine with a partner blog hop across the web. Their last stop was at BasicGrey, and I got to join in with a couple of card projects featuring BasicGrey’s beautiful Tea Garden collection along with new Spellbinder dies. I’ve shared the first card with you before, and today I’m back with the second.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden PrettySweetCard2This sweet thank you card uses a mixture of Tea Garden papers and stamps, along with Spellbinder’s Mini Medallion One die set. I used the dies to create a fun layered flower for the focal point of the design. The mini medallions are petite dies, and may get a bit lost on their own, but stacking and layering die cuts like this is a great way to call attention to some of those smaller dies you may have. I added a stamped Tea Garden flower image in between the two layers, and popped up each with foam dots for depth and dimension.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden PrettySweetCard3For extra detail, I stamped the Garden Tile Pattern cling stamp onto patterned paper, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder before die cutting the smallest medallion from the paper. Just that little touch adds a whole lot of character to the flower. I used the same stamp on the background panel, too, to tie everything together.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Just Saying Hello with BasicGrey & Spellbinders

Happy Monday, Friends!  Did you all have a wonderful 4th of July? We actually had rain and thunderstorms for most of the weekend, which is not too great for picnics and barbeques and fireworks….. but I didn’t really mind. After this last month with a full house and lots of activities, it was kind of nice to just relax and do nothing. I hope that your long weekend was filled with fun and food and family and friends, and many, many happy memories!
AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SayingHelloCard

Some of you may have seen that Spellbinder’s has been celebrating the release of their brand new Sapphire machine with a partner blog hop across the web. Their last stop was at BasicGrey, and I got to join in on the fun with a couple of card projects featuring BasicGrey’s beautiful Tea Garden collection along with new Spellbinder dies.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SayingHelloCard2Today I have the first card to share here with you. A pretty watercolor card made with Tea Garden papers and stamps and Spellbinder’s Simply Tags die set.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SayingHelloCard3I layered a couple of the tag shapes, and did a bit of inlaid die cutting, too. Stacking die cuts is a great way to call extra special attention to key features in your design, like my stamped sentiment here. Love that I was able to thread a bit of ribbon through the side of both tags, too.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SayingHelloCard4The sentiment, branch sprays, and embossed flower background were all made with beautiful Tea Garden clear stamps. I added color with water-colored Distress inks, and fussy cut the branches for a quick flourish around the tags. A couple of candy buttons finish things off.

I’ve got more details and supplies, along with a second Tea Garden Spellbinder’s card, up on the BasicGrey blog, if you’d like to see more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Happy Father’s Day, Dad with BasicGrey

Hello, my friends! TGIF! On Monday, I shared with you a sweet girly card made with BasicGrey’s Tea Garden collection, and today, I’m back to show a more masculine side to this line.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden DadCard I know what you are thinking. Where can I get my dad that awesome 1970’s tie? Am I right? 🙂

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden DadCard2If you don’t have a tie die or cutting file, there are lots of free pattern templates available online, which is what I used here. Love that this is basically a regular rectangular card, with a bit of a twist at the top to turn it into a super fast shaped card design. It’s fun and easy, and works great for Father’s Day, birthdays, graduation, and so much more.

Oh, So Chic with BasicGrey

Hello, sweet friends, and happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It was sure a big one for us, with my wee Missy Nik’s graduation ceremony happening last night. Such a proud moment, and such an emotional one, too. Life has felt like quite the roller coaster ride around here lately. Kinda nice that things can slow down now for a little bit.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SoChicCardSharing a fun card today featuring the beautiful Tea Garden collection by BasicGrey. A sweet and girly square card made with lots and lots of my favorite polka dots. I am absolutely crazy about these big yellow dots. I just can’t seem to stay away from them.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SoChicCard2I love this bright yellow and green color combo. It’s just perfect for spring and summer. And the layers of round stickers and banner strips reminded me of a big prize ribbon. Kinda fun, and so easy to do.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden SoChicCard3Finished off with a small twine bow and several dark green candy buttons for an eye-catching pop of color. I’ve got more details, as well as a masculine take on the Tea Garden collection, up on the BasicGrey blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Birthday Birdies with Sizzix

Hello Sweeties! Happy Friday! Well, we made it, my friends. School is over!

AudreyPettit Sizzix BirdyTagCard5
Graduation is still over a week away, but in the mean time, there is much to do.  I’ve got my family coming in, and we’ve got preparations and rehearsal and so much more to think about. It’s a crazy time, but oh…. is my Little Miss ever happy.

AudreyPettit Sizzix BirdyTagCard2
Besides graduation, this past week has been super busy with birthdays in our house. Now as many of you know, one of my most favorite parts of a birthday is the packages! I do love me some pretty packages. So today, I thought I would share the sweet little tag and bag I put together for my bestie, Joanne, who loves nature and animals and all things yellow.

AudreyPettit Sizzix BirdyTagCard3
I knew Joanne would melt over these adorable little birds, and I have to say, I’m pretty crazy about them, too. They are from a new Sizzix stamp and die set by Doodlebug Designs, and they are full of Doodlebug-y cuteness. I stamped the birds on watercolor paper, and colored them with my Distress markers. The sentiment is also from the same set. I used a tag die set from Tim Holtz, and some border dies from Stephanie Barnard, too.

AudreyPettit Sizzix BirdyTagCard4
And the tag actually opens like a card base, which is a little bit of a fun surprise. I’ve got the full tutorial up on the Sizzix blog today, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Sending you love and hugs from me and my big graduate!

Remember This Day with BasicGrey

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden RememberHangingHello Sweeties! Happy Friday! We are in celebration mode here at my house today.  What I didn’t really realize was that, because of some brand new end-of-year testing changes and senior exemptions, etc, etc…. well….. that we only have two more days of school next week. And then we are done! Finished! And ohmyword, then my wee Missy Peanut will be graduating! And as you can imagine, I am a whirlwind of emotion about that….

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden RememberHanging2Today I have a sweet home decor project to share with you. A shabby chic wall hanging I made with BasicGrey’s beautiful Tea Garden collection. I must say, I really do love a good wall hanging. They are such an easy way to add a bit of handmade or seasonal decor to your home, and there is always a little nook or cranny they could be stuck into, or a spare doorknob they could hang from. This particular hanging, with the sentiment on this sticker, seems so fitting for the happenings in our house right now, and is a motto I am trying to embrace. Time just moves so quickly, and kids grow up so fast. I am really trying to stop, slow down, and remember each day.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden RememberHanging3

Lots of layers of pretty Tea Garden papers, and a bit of corrugated cardboard for structure. The beautiful flowers were fussy cut from the 12×12 papers. A label sticker sentiment on the top corner, layered over additional banner and border strips. I even made a shaker element on the side using recycled plastic packaging and handmade sequins. I’ve got more details up on the BasicGrey blog, if you care to take a peek!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a wonderful, amazing weekend! And cheers to a three-day weekend here in the states!

Coffee Cup & Finishers with Top Dog Dies

Hellllloooo my friends! Yippee, it’s Friday…. and what a happy Friday it is! Of course, I am always excited to see the weekend roll around, but today is an extra special Friday for two reasons. The first is that my boy is home! Yes, my son has just finished his second year of college and is back home for the summer, and right now he is happily ensconced in his room doing what most teenagers tend to do over the summer holiday…..stay up all night and sleep most of the day. It’s so wonderful to have him home, though, that I don’t mind his nocturnal habits. He’s here. He’s happy. And he’s in serious need of some fattening up… and that’s all I care about.

AudreyPettit TopDogDies HiCard
My second bit of happy news is that I am guest blogging today over on the Top Dog Dies blog. Top Dog has just released a brand new line of exclusive dies, and I have had the good fortune of getting my hands on a few of these new dies to create some projects to share with you.

AudreyPettit TopDogDies HiCard2
I am a huge lover of all things coffee and tea related, so I was really happy to see that Top Dog Dies was releasing a new line of coffee dies. Today I have made three coffee-inspired projects to share, showing you several ways to use the new Coffee Cup & Mat and Coffee Finishers die sets.  I think my favorite thing about this steel-rule die is the nice, large size of this coffee cup, which when die cut, creates a perfect A2 sized card base. That being said, I could not resist making a shaped card for my first project.

AudreyPettit TopDogDies MyFavoriteCard
My second project is another card made with the Coffee Cup & Mat die, but this time, a square card using a fun inlaid die cutting technique. I really love this card.  I think it’s fun to use just a portion of the die cut to create a whole different look.

AudreyPettit TopDogDies MyFavoriteCard2
For my last project, I created a shaped gift tag using the Coffee Cup & Mat and Coffee Finishers die sets. And this time, I added some detail to the coffee sleeve using another new Top Dog Dies set called Circle Die Set.

AudreyPettit TopDogDies FromMyHeartBag
I am just obsessed with watercolors lately, so I’ve used lots of watercolor paper in combination with Distress inks to tie all my projects together today. And the papers I’ve used are from a couple of my favorite, favorite BasicGrey collections, Tea Garden and Fresh Cut. If you’re interested in learning more about each project, I hope you will head on over to the Top Dog Dies blog and check out my post.

Thank you, my friends! Have an amazing weekend!

A Few Good Things with BasicGrey

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden GoodThingsSetOne of my favorite things to give my mom for Mother’s Day is a set of handmade cards. She loves pretty cards, and loves to mail them out for every occasion, and since she doesn’t make any herself, she always appreciates getting some of mine.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden GoodThingsSet2For a special event like Mother’s Day, I wanted to make sure to create a special packaging to present my gift in. This card folio is perfect for holding a set of cards and envelopes, with pockets on the inside, and ties closed easily with a bit of your favorite ribbon. I created the folio with gorgeous papers from the new Tea Garden collection, which I know my mother is going to love.

AudreyPettit BG TeaGarden GoodThingsSet3Untie the ribbon, and the folio folds open to reveal two side flap pockets that fit cards on one side, and envelopes on the other. For the cards, I used the beautiful BasicGrey/Hero Arts Tea Garden stamps to create a set of soft watercolor cards with a slight vintage flair. I’ll share more details on these cards, along with all the steps and directions on a special post on National Scrapbook Day.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

A Doodlebug Smile with Sizzix

Hello, hello my friends! Happy Wednesday. Today I have a cute little smile to share with you. A fun watercolor smile card I made this week for the Sizzix blog using new Doodlebug Designs stamps, embossing folders, and dies.

AudreyPettit Sizzix SmileCard
I am really excited that Sizzix has been coming out with more and more coordinating stamp and die sets lately. This month, Sizzix is releasing several new sets from Doodlebug Designs, which I couldn’t wait to play with. Isn’t this little birdie just adorable?

AudreyPettit Sizzix SmileCard2

The bird is from the new A Little Birdy Told Me Framelits stamp and die set. I have been crushing on watercoloring lately, so that is what I did here, using a variety of Distress ink pads.

AudreyPettit Sizzix SmileCard3
I nestled a few tags shapes for some framework for my birdie. Added a new Sizzix stamp sentiment and a bit of Tim Holtz greenery, too. The papers are from BasicGrey’s beautiful new Tea Garden collection.

AudreyPettit Sizzix SmileCard4
The background is another fun new product from Doodlebug that Sizzix is releasing this month. A woodgrain embossing folder, done up in a bit more watercolor Distress. I’ve got a full tutorial up on the Sizzix blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!
