Cityscape Suburbia with Sizzix

Hiya Crafty Friends! Happy Wednesday. Hope your weeks are going great so far!

Last week I had a tutorial up on the Sizzix blog, and today I wanted to share my project here with you, too. A set of shabby Distress tags, made with the fabulous new Cityscape die collection by Tim Holtz for Sizzix.

I think this new collection is so much fun. And as always, I am blown away by the intricacy and detail of these Tim Holtz Thinlits dies. If you take a close look, you can see all the tiny individual pieces that make up each structure, all in separate dies for you to use and layer however you wish. I love that this collection comes with entire city scenes in border dies, or individual build-as-you-go city pieces, like I’ve used here today. With so many buildings, as well as trees and shrubs, and even a complete transportation die set to choose from, the creative possibilities seem endless.

I think these new sets would be great for travel themes and art journals, or friendship cards across the miles. Or how about Happy Holidays from my house to yours? Think I might have to give that one a try.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial for these tags up on the Sizzix blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Peace Tag Set with Ranger Ink

Happy Monday, Crafty Friends!

Today I have the great honor of guesting over on the Ranger Ink blog. And since it’s holiday time, and we’re all in need of fun packaging ideas, I have made a sweet and shabby set of tags to share that are sure to brighten up those Christmas boxes and bags.

These happy tags are filled with lots of my favorite Ranger Distress and Tim Holtz products. For art tags, I like to use a large tag base. But since these were designed to be added to gifts, I started with #5 size manila craft tags from Ranger.

Love that these manila tags are heavyweight and sturdy enough to stand up to lots of Distress treatment, because I put them through the works. They’ve been inked and embossed, sanded, painted, and splattered for that aged time-worn finish that I love so well.

It never ceases to amaze me, the wonders of Distress when the inks blend and mix together with water. Almost seems like magic.

I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial for these up on the Ranger Ink blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I only accomplished a little bit on my holiday to-do list, so the pressure is on. Here’s hoping I can knock it out this week!

A “Pretty” Gift Tag Set with Authentique

Classique Pretty

Right now, Authentique is in the midst of releasing their new summer collections. So far, I’ve shared an altered diary and home decor frame from the Favorite collection, and a graduation layout using Accomplished… and today I have a set of tags to show featuring another brand new collection, Classique Pretty.

Pretty is a continuation of Authentique’s Classique black and white line, started earlier this year with Classique Elegant. But whereas Elegant brought in touches of blue, Pretty is all about the pink.

So perfect for creating all those feminine, girly girl projects, like my set of gift tags.

The new Pretty patterned papers make creating collage-style tags so quick and easy, as they offer amazingly detailed backgrounds with very little work. Not only that, there are tons of fabulous images that can be fussy cut from the papers, which along with the matching die cuts, stickers, and new Authentic Life Cards give you lots of options for dressing up your designs.

I love the classic black, white, and pink color combo to the Pretty collection, but for my project, I wanted to show you how easy it is to customize your papers to create a whole new look.

With just a little bit of water and ink, I was able to bring in a burst of extra color. I’ve got all the details up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more.

So, due to a serious lack of understanding of the high school exam schedule, I was absolutely tickled to learn that instead of having 7 days left of school, like I thought….we really only have 5. Huge fist pump!

But today, Mr. Pete is having his wisdom teeth removed, and we are both a wee bit nervous. Frowny Face!

Sweetness Tags with Authentique

It is another yucky, grey, rainy day here in North Carolina, but I’m feeling a great sense of happiness today, regardless. The weekend is looming, and all my major summer to-do’s have now been done. Graduation, DC, and college orientation are now in our rear view mirror, and the very last of my CHA projects have been shipped. Or should I say, Create-N-Connect? Either way, what a wonderful feeling!

Have you all been getting excited about the CHA sneak peeks that are popping up everywhere? Have any favorites so far? I have to say that I’ve been loving what I’ve been seeing, and have so enjoyed the new lines I’ve gotten to play with. Cannot wait to share with you what I’ve been up to. Today, I get to share the first of my CHA projects for the Authentique booth, made with Authentique’s adorable Sweetness collection.

Although Sweetness was officially released at the end of June, it is one of the collections being featured at the Authentique booth this summer. I made this set of gift tags from the 6×6 Paper Bundle and lots of fun images cut from the 12×12 Cut Apart Enhancements sheet. Dressed the tags with pretty ribbons, trim, and flowers. I’ve been hoarding those lovely velvet leaves and berries from Webster’s Pages for years, but they finally found a good home here.

I’ve got step-out instructions and photos up today on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more.

So tell me, my friends….

What has been your favorite new sneak peek so far?

Thanks so much for stopping by. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
