Recipe for Fun with Therm O Web & Waffle Flower Crafts

It’s been a big day already here at my house. We had a tree company out this morning to remove three big trees from the back yard that had become quite too massive for the space. With sixteen trees planted in an half-acre yard, things were beginning to feel a bit closed in. What’s amazing to me is how gigantic trees could become in ten years, and how anyone could manage to cut them down and haul them away in only half an hour. These days, I can hardly make a simple decision in that amount of time! 😉

Last week, the Therm O Web team had the great fun of joining up with our friends at Waffle Flower Crafts. I shared the first card I made for the swap here already (click here to see that post), and today I’m back with number two. Another chef card from Big Bear & Bird. This time, Bear has whipped up some recipes for summer fun.

I do love that silly old bear! He has been colored with Copic markers, and die cut with the matching dies. Did some paper piecing for his gingham apron and hat. I don’t know about you all, but gingham just screams summer to me. Puts me in mind of a little outdoor picnic or bbq.

I added in die cut floral accents, and arranged my scene onto some stacked die shapes from GinaK Designs. The paper is once again from Simple Stories’ Summer Days collection.

I’ve got more details and step-by-step directions up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all are having lots of summer fun in your neck of the woods!

Waffleflower Week at Therm O Web

Hey, hey everyone! Happy Tuesday to you! Hope my friends and family in the States had a lovely long holiday weekend. We have been getting deluged with rain from Subtropical Depression Alberto here in my neck of the woods, but we still had a wonderful Memorial Day holiday. All the rain, and even my work schedule, can’t stop the fun when family is around.

Speaking of fun, it’s Waffleflower Crafts week on the Therm O Web blog. I am a huge fan of the whimsical art of Big Bear & Bird, and made several cards to share mixing those adorable bear and bird stamps with Therm O Web’s fabulous line-up of cardstock, ink, dies, and adhesives. Today I wanted to share the first of them here with you.

I really am a sucker for cute critters, and I couldn’t resist the adorable chef images from Waffleflower’s Therefore I Am combo set. That little bird in his chef hat kills me. He just whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies for his friend, Bear.

This card features simple Copic coloring along with bright and happy patterned paper from Simple Stories’ Summer Days collection. And of course cardstock, ink, and dies from Therm O Web’s Gina K Designs line.

I’ve got a second Big Bear & Bird card to share on the Therm O Web blog, along with details and instructions for creating these cards, if you’d like to learn more. And don’t forget to enter our prize drawing for a $25 gift certificate while you are there!

Thanks so much for stopping by! And huge thanks to all the servicemen and women, to their families, and to all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve this great country of ours!

Good Friends with Therm O Web

Happy Wednesday, Good Friends! Hope your week is going well. I thought perhaps that we had finally hit spring here in my neck of the woods, but she seems to be hiding again. It’s grey and gloomy once again, and I am so ready for real spring to arrive. So I thought I’d pretend a bit today with a bright and cheery spring flower card that I made this week for the Therm O Web blog.

For something a bit different than my norm, I went with an interactive card design made of a pocket and an insert. Love that extra little surprise the recipient will find when they pull on the cloud tab. And the belly band slips off, and is re-usable, too.

There’s something about this Waffle Flower Bear & Bird stamp set that always makes me smile. This time, I gave the bear a snow cone to hold that was fussy cut from my patterned papers, and created a little outdoor picnic scene for these good friends to enjoy.

I put together a matching insert using coordinating papers from the Simple Stories Summer Days kit. A fussy cut cloud added to the top of the card acts as the pull tab. Therm O Web GinaK Designs dies were used to frame the sentiment and the belly band scene. And of course I used some deco foil to accent that cool GinaK Foil-Mates greeting.

I always love a good side view of deco foil to really show off it’s beautiful shine. I used three colors of foil here that were a great match to my papers, and it’s really easy to do. I’ve got a tutorial for that, as well as complete instructions for creating this pocket design, up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Beach Hair with Therm O Web

Hi Sweet Friends! Happy Monday!

We have been having the most beautiful weather here. The storms have cleared, leaving nothing but blue skies and gentle breezes. Feels like summer has returned.

Even so, signs of fall are creeping in. The first hint of color is popping out in the trees, and there’s a squirrel burying acorns in my front lawn this morning.   And of course, I have completed switched over to fall inside. Fall crafts….. fall decorations…. I even bought my first pumpkin of the season yesterday. You know me and autumn…it just can’t come soon enough.

Weather like this, though, has me longing for the beach. So perfect time to share some seaside tags I made recently for the Therm O Web blog, featuring dies from the GinaK Designs collection and stamps from our friends at Waffle Flower Crafts.

This is the adorable Bear and Bird stamp set, with paper from Simple Stories’ Summer Days collection. I framed my beach scenes with square dies from GinaK Designs, and gave my bears some cool beach accessories from a super old Stampin’Up stamp set that I haven’t used for years. Bonus points for that! 🙂

I’ve got the complete tutorial up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a fabulous week ahead!

Bear & Bird with Therm O Web and Waffle Flower

waffle-flower-crafts-logo-header

Hi sweet friends! Happy Monday to you once again. I hope you all have had a wonderful week!

Today is the last day of July already, and I am sitting here marveling at how fast the time goes by. Summer is almost over, and with the start of school quickly approaching I am feeling a great sense of change coming over me. Both of my kiddos are heading off to college this year. Pete to finish one last semester to complete his BS in biochemistry. And my Missy Nik will be starting university after a two-year break, with a plan to study life sciences. And all this means big changes for this old mom.

I’ve got two weeks until move-in date, and yes, I am counting down the days already. Nik and I have been having fun picking out her dorm room get-up. Last week we spent four out of five weekdays on campus attending orientation and meetings. My head is swimming with information and data and facts and nerves. So much to process, and such little time left. I know it will go by in the blink of an eye.

Change is a bit scary, but I’m reminding myself that with new things comes new opportunities. I’m so excited to see where the kids go from here, and where I will go, too. As a matter of fact, I am starting out on a new venture right now myself, with a brand new job!
After all, if the kids can learn new things, then I can as well, right?

Sharing these sweet thank you cards that I made for the Therm O Web blog using the adorable  bear & bird stamp set from our friends at Waffle Flower Crafts.
I’ve got the full tutorial to share HERE on the TOW blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! And have a fantastic week!
