Fabric Friday- A Fairy House Pillow Tuck

I know many of my paper peeps out there can relate when I say that I have a pretty big stash of paper scraps that I have a hard time throwing away. And just like my mountain of paper scraps, I tend to collect, and keep, and hoard my fabric scraps, too. Because you just never know when that tiny sliver of fabric may come in handy!

You may remember this orange ticking print that I used recently on those shabby fabric carrots in my spring shop. After cutting all of those, I was left with quite a few scraps… too small for anything new, but too pretty to end up in the bin. So I challenged myself to find something to do with them…. and the other ten gazillion scraps I have lying around. And I came up with these. Sweet little fairy house pillow tucks.

I very much enjoy adding stitching to my projects, so I created a small fairy scene from a variety of bright and happy fabric prints, and embellished it with hand-embroidered details. The raw-edged applique gives that lovely frayed shabby look I love so well.

Of course, I barely made a dent in my mountain of fabric scraps, but I was pleased with some of the teensy details I was able to squeeze out of the tiniest of pieces. My clunky fingers could barely hold onto the center of those flowers, but I did it. So I’m calling that a win… even if I still have a ton of scraps to go!

I’ve added both of these pillow tucks to my shop page, and you can find them here if you’d like to take them home. Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a super fabulous weekend!

Valentine Love at AudOnes Prims

** Hi, Friends! If you’re looking for my Creativation 2018- Tim Holtz Blog Hop and Give Away post, please click HERE!**

Happy Sunday, everyone! And happy Super Bowl Sunday to all the football fans out there!

It has been quite awhile since I’ve had the chance to share any of my shabby sweet fabric projects with you. The holidays and my new work schedule, and then the Creativation (CHA) show following right behind, has left little time for play…. and I sure do miss it. So I was super excited earlier this week to grab a chance to sit down at my sewing machine and whip up some soft and pretty Valentine hearts for the month of love!

There’s just something about the process of crafting things by hand that brings such a sense of happiness and joy to me. What fun it is to watch the project evolve along every little step of the way, and see that finished spark of an idea come to life. These little cuties have really been put through the ringer, and I love how they turned out. The sweet recycled fabric with the little rips and tears that perfectly meld with the aged painted, stained, and sanded finish. The paper crafting supplies brought in for the finishing touches….Distress inks for dying the fabrics and trims. Archival ink for stamping. Old favorite Hero Arts stamps for verse. Maya Road designer pins. And dies for spiral roses. Makes me smile. Hope you do, too.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your football today!

And in case you’re interested, you can find these shabby little XOXO hearts listed in my AudOnes Prims Shop. ❤ Have a great day!

An Old Fashioned Christmas with Photo Play Paper

Hello, hello friends, and happy Wednesday! I’m taking advantage of a relatively quiet morning here at my house to share with you all another holiday card that I made at my scrapbooking retreat back in October. Emphasis this year is trying to use up leftovers from a pair of favorite older holiday collections. This card was made with the adorable Dear Santa kit from Photo Play Paper.

This time, I pulled some of the brown woodgrain print from the papers to pair with another favorite of mine, kraft. I do so love the look of red, white, and natural kraft for the holidays.

To add some interest to the background I used a Hero Arts stencil and white ink with a blending tool. Popped up the sentiment banner and bells for a bit of extra dimension, too.

I felt pretty good about getting my holiday cards done in October, but I’m chagrined to say that I haven’t gotten any of them in the mail yet! Oy…. I need to get a move on! Hope holiday prep is going a bit smoother at your house!

P.S.- Don’t forget to check out my new Holiday Mini Release in my AudOnes Prims Shop!

2017 Halloween Haunted House Tour- The Finale

Happy Friday, friends!
And welcome to the last day of my annual Halloween Haunted House tour.
Today’s stop is the sunroom.

My sunroom is in the back corner of my house and is surrounded by two full walls of windows, letting in lots of natural light. It is, by far, my favorite spot in my house to just sit…. and as a consequence, I’ve absolutely packed the room chock full of spooks. Perfect for taking in over a nice cup of coffee.

As always, I’ve got a ton of photos to share. So you may want to grab a cup of coffee, too.
I hope you enjoy the tour!

Soon the trick or treaters will be here, and it will be time to take down the haunts for another year. But for now, I’m going to enjoy my little ghosts and goblins for as long as I can. And as last minute as it is…. I still have a few special handmade prims left in my shop, for anyone wanting to add to their collection. I’ve added a new princess ghost that you may remember, too.

Giselle the Princess Ghost is now available
HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and for the sweet comments on my Halloween tour! Wishing you all a very wonderful weekend!

2017 Halloween Haunted House Tour Kick-Off

Hello, hello Friends, and welcome to my Haunted House!
As most of you know by now, Fall is my most favorite season of the year, and October is by far my favorite month. It’s become an annual tradition around these parts to share my Halloween haunts and spooks with all of you, and today I am super excited to kick off the start of this year’s house tour. Step this way, my Pretties, and let the haunting begin!

This year I thought we’d begin in my dining room, which is always one of my favorite spots to decorate. Not only is it one of the first rooms you see when entering my house, I also love the decorating potential of all the shelves on my antique sideboard. Such a great spot to pile up lots and lots of spooks!

This year’s theme in the dining room? Skulls and bones and ghosts, in a crisp black and white color palette to match my dishes. With just a hint of pumpkin orange added to the mix.

I know most of you have toured with me many times before, so some of these scenes will have become familiar to you. But hopefully artfully rearranged for this year’s tour. I’ve taken lots of photos to share, zooming in on all the tiny details. So sit back and relax, and welcome to the tour!

I do so hope you enjoyed the beginning of the tour!  And just in case anyone is looking for a few new spooks of their own, I’ve uncovered a few extra goodies from last year while going through my bins…. like these spooky skulls and a few of their friends.
You can find them HERE in my AudOnes Prims Shop!

Until next time, hope you have a wonderful weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

A Father’s Day Tutorial with Ranger Ink

Hello, Crafty Friends!
Thanks for stopping by!

Father’s Day Card by Audrey Pettit | www.rangerink.com
I’m off to a bit of a late start to my week, with a Tuesday post instead of my usual Monday. It’s been busy here, with lots of things on my to-do list….. but busy in a very good way. Tomorrow we’re heading out on vacation. I’m going home, friends! Home to visit my family. 🙂

It’s a very rare occurrence for me, but this year I get to spend Father’s Day with my dad. And of course a special occasion like that calls for a handmade card. So I have pulled out some of my favorite inky Ranger and Tim Holtz goodies to create this retro, masculine Father’s Day card for him, which I’m very excited to be sharing this week on the Ranger Ink blog.

My parents live near San Francisco, so it seems only fitting to pull out this amazing Tim Holtz Cityscape die for his Father’s Day card this year. I love all the individual pieces that come in this collection, but for this card, I used one of the border dies to create a quick and easy city scene, layered onto a Stitched Rectangles die cut frame.

I pulled out some of the darker range of Distress inks to watercolor the buildings, and then added highlights to the vellum windows with a yellow Distress marker. The sky was water-colored, too, with a golden glow for a sunny background.

I added some stamps and splatters, and a grungy finish with opaque Texture Paste. Papers from the Memoranda paper stash and a die cut sentiment banner.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial up on the Ranger Ink blog, if you’d like to learn more!

P.S.~ Today is the last chance to snatch up the few remaining goodies in my AudOnes Prims shop before I close for vacation. There’s still a couple of items from my nautical summer mini-release, and even a few remaining spring prims, as well. Last chance!

Have a wonderful day, everyone! I’m heading out tomorrow, but hope to visit and post while I’m away.  So, my friends, I will see you all soon!
