Fresh Baked #1 with Tim Holtz & Sizzix

Happy Monday, sweet friends! I’m back today with a festive card share featuring new seasonal products from the 2018 Tim Holtz and Sizzix Holiday release. This is the silly sweet Fresh Baked die set, along with the new Stacked Tags set… a fabulous everyday die set that’s quickly becoming a favorite staple in my crafty stash.

There are two Fresh Baked die sets in the holiday release this year. This is the Fresh Baked #1 die set, which includes a star, heart, mitten, and snowman shape, as well as this cute Santa here. My favorite thing about these sets is that the images all look like iced cookies, ready for the holidays. So cute all on their own, just filling a plate, or great for packages, cards, and quick holiday tags.

Look at all the sweet details on Santa’s face! They are all layering dies that are included in the set. I used kraft cardstock for the base to mimic the look of a real baked cookie, and then mixed white cardstock and sanded Kraft Stock Distress cardstock for the rest of the details. A white gel pen and Glossy Accents adds a highlight and shine to the eyes. And a fuzzy pompom and icy Stickles glitter adds texture and holiday sparkle to the hat and beard.

I absolutely love the new Stacked Tags dies, and as I mentioned above, they have quickly become one of my top go-to everyday sets because they can be used for everything. I die cut two tags and the hole reinforcer, stacked them together as the name implies, and added detail with ink, texture paste, a scalloped border, and Idea-ology die cut ephemera. The holly is an oldie (but a goodie) from the Holiday Greens die set.

The background is a quirky mix of round die shapes from a variety of previously released Alterations sets. Stitched Circles, Gift Tags, and a beautiful lacy doily, too. A fun blend of shabby chic.

Be sure to check out the video below for a full preview of the first half of the Tim Holtz Sizzix 2018 Holiday release, along with lots of fun project ideas featuring the new dies!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope your week is off to a great start!

A St. Nick Tag with Sizzix

AudreyPettit Sizzix BelieveSantaTag
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Santa Claus. Years ago, when I first started collecting ornaments for my Christmas tree, I only purchased Santas. Now I’ve branched out a bit, but Santa is definitely the predominant theme in my Christmas celebrations still. So it will probably come as no surprise that I actually squealed out loud over Tim Holtz’s new St. Nick Alterations die for Sizzix.

I think he seriously may be just the cutest thing ever!

So put him to work straight away on a fun mixed-media art tag for the Sizzix blog. Old St. Nick is decked out here in all his Christmas finery, with a soft fluffy beard and hat, accented with paint, Distress Ink and a touch of crystal clear glitter. I really love all the extra texture and detail you can bring to a die cut by adding in a bit of fabric to the mix.

The beautiful script sentiment is from the new Holiday Script Thinlits die set, die cut in crisp, bold black. And the pretty patterned papers are from Authentique’s holiday collection, Believe. I’ve got more details and a step-by-step tutorial up on the Sizzix blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you a wonderful day!

Just Rite From Our House

Good morning everyone and happy Monday! Greetings from sunny California! Today we have an all new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room for you. This week’s 1-2-3 challenge is a recipe for creativity to use 1 ribbon, 2 buttons, and 3 punches on your project.

Our wonderful sponsor in the Tea Room this week is Just Rite stamps. Just Rite has generously provided the design team with one of their new holiday releases from the new 2010 Christmas collection. I used the From Our House stamp set with that adorable Santa image for my card.  And check this out…….one lucky winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to play in their online store.  What an amazing prize. Definitely worth playing for!

My card was created with a touch of The Girls’ Paperie mixed with Creative Imaginations IOD Loolah papers. Die-cut journaling card is from October Afternoon’s Fly a Kite and the chipboard frame is Little Yellow Bicycle. Sentiment rub-on from K&Co.

For my 1-2-3 recipe, I used 1 antique lace trim to make a layered scalloped edging under my focal image, and 2 cream buttons on the sides of the die cut frame. I used 3 punches to create rounded card corners, a scalloped edge, and the square block that just perfectly fit my stamped Santa.

Here’s a close up detail of that fun Santa stamp. I colored him using my Stampin’Up ink pads and blender pen and added touches of sparkle to his hat and beard with Martha Stewart Crystal Clear glitter.  A touch of cotton adds a pom pom trim to the tip of his cap.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you all have a marvelous Monday!

All is Calm

Good evening everyone!  Just like that, the Christmas frenzy is officially over and a sort of calm has descended over the house.  What a difference from the last couple of weeks.  Today was a nothing-that-you-absolutely-have-to-do-on-the-list day. Mom did want to check out a couple of stores this morning in search of clearance Christmas cards and wrapping, but then it was back home to the peace and quiet.  And how nice it is to have some peace and quiet. After all the rush, it’s blissful to just s.t.o.p. and s.l.o.w. down.

I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from yesterday with you all.

Nik got an important letter from Santa telling her about a very special present that she will be receiving, hopefully in the near future.  We are super excited about it, and I can’t wait to share more on that soon.

Look for these bad boys next Halloween.  They are my new string of pumpkin lights.  And check out my new village people.

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday in your house, filled with laughter and love, good food, friends, and family.  Goodnight everyone!

The 31 Days of October- Day 12

Hi everyone!  It’s turned cold and gray and rainy on us today. Makes for a rather gloomy Monday, but a perfect day for hiding away in my scrap-room.  I’ve been playing with some of the new Webster’s Pages goodies, and have absolutely fallen in love with their new trim collections.  If you haven’t seen them yet, I will warn you…… are going to WANT these!

These are the new Botanical Trim Collection and the Winter Trim Collection. Both elegant and amazingly detailed.  If you are looking for unique trims, look no further.

I also have a couple of cards to share today.  The first card is my Halloween share for day 12 of my 31 Days of October.

I dug out some oldies but goodies from my stash for this one. 🙂

Supplies: Patterned paper: Making Memories and KI, Acrylic fence and star: Making Memories, Scalloped border: Bazzill, Jack o’lantern: Jolie’s, rub-on greeting: DCWV, and ribbon.

And for the second card, I’m going to completely shift holidays on you and share my card for the current sketch over at the Sketch This blog.

Audrey Sketch #92

For this I used some of my favorite new Christmas paper, Jolly by Golly by Cosmo Cricket.  The Santa image, along with the “special delivery” greeting come from the Jolly by Golly Creative Cards.  I made a scalloped frame piece using my Stampin’Up border punch and some Webster’s Pages cream paper.  I also punched 3 snowflake images from the patterned paper with my 1/2″ circle punch and added some Kaiser pearls to the centers.  Additional embellishments include a touch of satin ribbon and a printed flower from Making Memories.

Hope you will check out the blog and play along!  Hook me up in the comments if you do.  I would love to see.

Have a great day everyone!

Christmas Trio

Hi everyone!  Only 3 days until Christmas!  I am happy to say that I am almost ready.  Almost.  How about you?  I was out both days of the weekend trying to finish up all that last minute shopping, and I’m still rather surprised at how small the crowds were.  I figured the last weekend before Christmas would be completely insane shopping, but it seemed no worse, really, than usual.  Thinking that it’s proof of how badly the economy is suffering this year.

I was also able to finish up my wrapping last night.  Think I have just one more small thing I would like to pick up, and then I should be done.  On the other hand, I am still making and mailing my Christmas cards.  I just have not been very on the ball about cards this year.  But, it could be worse, right? 😉

I did manage to make a few cards at our Paper-Playground crop on Saturday, however.   Did not get much else done, with all the blabbing I tend to do, but at least I accomplished something.

Can you believe I am still making cards from the December Paper-Playground kit?  I keep surprising myself with how much I’ve been able to do with this one kit.  I have already made 11 cards and pages with this kit, plus a few sets of gift tags, and yet I was able to get 3 more cards made from my scraps.  What a wonderful feeling.

I supplemented my kit scraps with just a few extra goodies from my stash, including some of my favorite holiday rub-ons from Webster’s Pages, a bit of ribbon and twine, and a couple of silk leaves.

This card uses both the LYB Christmas Magic paper and the MM Paperie paper, along with a MM flocked brad, our May Arts ribbon, and a vellum Swell Noel ornament from K&Co.  I simply added a Webster’s rub-on greeting and a simple twine bow.

This one uses my last LYB die-cut photo mat folded in half to make the card base.  I cut a star from the kit cardstock and added a strip of striped Christmas Magic paper and one of my remaining May Arts reindeer.  Finished this off with my favorite Webster’s Santa rub-on, along with a greeting, a silk leaf and another twine bow.

My third card uses more of my Christmas Magic scraps along with my final Bazzill chipboard snowflake, which I painted white, my second to last May Arts reindeer, and our Kaiser snow pearls.  I layered another of the K&Co. Swell Noel vellum pieces over the center of the chipboard snowflake for a subtle touch of detail.  From my stash, I added a bit of green ribbon, another silk leaf and a twine bow. Not bad for a bunch of scraps, huh?

And I might not be done with that kit yet! 😉

Have a great day everyone!

Webster’s Pages Christmas

Hi everyone!  I have had such a wonderful morning.  My game plan was to spend the time cleaning, but somehow I ended up in my scraproom instead.  I have spent the last few hours just playing.  Worked on a few projects that I can’t share just yet.  But then, I decided to do something just for myself, just for the pure fun of it.  And this is what I came up with.

Isn’t that Santa just the jolliest?  He, along with most of the goodies on this card, came from the gorgeous Christmas lines from Webster’s Pages.  I know not a lot of you are familiar with their holiday lines, but they do have two really beautiful lines called Winter Wonderland and Ting-a-ling.  This card is a combination of both lines of paper, as well as the Ting-a-ling rub-ons.  The Santa image and the greeting are both from the rub-on set.  And look how well their stunning trim matches!  This card makes me joyful, indeed!

Hope you all are finding the time to appreciate the joy of the season, too.

Sketch This #75

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It’s time for this week’s sketch over at the Sketch This blog.  This is a big one.  Sketch number 75!  That is a whole lot of sketches, people!  I keep wondering when Janelle ever gets any sleep, with her 4 different challenge blogs she runs.  She is some kind of Super Woman, that is for sure.  Janelle told us all today that we are going to be taking a break until after the holidays, so this will be the last sketch of the year.  Hope you all enjoy!

Here it is.

And here is my card.

Made this with paper from Anna Griffin and a wonderful vintage Santa clip from Crafty Secrets.  I made the scalloped edges with my Fiskars Threading Water punch, and tucked the scallop far under the pink paper so that only a hint of it shows.  I used my EK small star punch to create several small stars that I then glittered with some loose pink glitter.  The tone on tone effect is very subtle, which is just the look I was going for.  The holly is a real sprig that I clipped from the yard and dressed up with three red button berries.  Then finished the card off with some machine stitching and two trims from Webster’s Pages and American Crafts.

SO glad I’m getting some Christmas cards done!

And before I go, I would like to give my bloggy friend, Krista, a huge thank you for this sweet award she gave me.
