Thanks & Best Wishes with Therm O Web

Happy Fri-YAY, friends! Today is my day up on the Therm O Web blog, where I’m sharing a pair of cards I made for Creativations (CHA) with the new designer stencils and new colors of deco foil. And I wanted to share my cards with you all here, too.

I used the beautiful Tim Holtz Stamper’s Anonymous Flutter stamp set and some stitched circle dies for the focal panels, and layered them with simple patterned paper and sentiment strips. The graphic backgrounds were made with a bit of masking and inking, followed by deco foil stenciling to create the cool metallic pattern on top.

I always love a good side view of the deco foil. Really shows off its amazing texture and shine. I used my two favorite new colors of deco foil for these cards- denim and jade. And two of the new stencils in the Starburst and Pinwheel designs.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial for today’s cards up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

You’re the Best with Therm O Web & Taylored Expressions

Happy Wednesday, Friends! Thanks for stopping by!

We’ve got a fun week going on at the Therm O Web blog. Our friends at Taylored Expressions have joined up with us to bring you a week filled with project ideas, mixing Taylor’s fabulous stamps and dies with Therm O Web’s line up of adhesives and deco foils. Both blogs are hopping with amazing projects to check out every day, and we have some wonderful prize giveaways that you won’t want to miss, too.

I received two fabulous Taylored Expressions sets to play with, and made two cards that are very different in style. Today I wanted to share the first here with you, a mixed-media, shabby sweet thank you card made with Taylor’s beautiful Lavender Bouquet set.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb You'reTheBestCard
I have a soft spot for lavender. My friend, Paige’s, yard is bursting with lavender in full bloom right now, and it is such a treat to visit. I love the simple elegance of the blooms, but even more, I am crazy for the scent and keep a bottle of lavender oil on me at all times. So no surprise that I couldn’t resist this sweet lavender bouquet, right?

AudreyPettit Thermoweb You'reTheBestCard3I thought the rustic country feel of the basket would work well with touches of my favorite shabby style. So I added in a bit of natural kraft, twine, and messy paint, along with more elegant accents of gold.  Gold sequins from 28 Lilac Lane. Gold deco tape from Tim Holtz. And of course, gold Deco Foil from Therm O Web, applied in my favorite grungy, distressed finish.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb You'reTheBestCard2 The new Deco Foil Adhesive Pen makes it so easy to apply deco foil to almost any surface. I’ve got a full tutorial up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Be sure to pop by the Taylored Expressions blog to see how their amazing designers are using Therm O Web’s adhesives and line up of deco foils, too. And get entered to win one of two amazing prize package giveaways, one on each blog, while you are there. Good luck, everyone!

And before I go, I wanted to send a huge birthday shout out to my sweet Momma today!
I love you, Mom! Hope you have an amazing day!

Hedgehog Feelings

Hello Sweeties, and happy Wednesday!

Today I have another card to share with you from what I am calling my “projects from the scrap pile” series. Today I’m doing some stamping with Stampin’Up, and an adorable hedgehog image called A Little Smile.

AudreyPettit LittleSmileCard
I don’t know if you guys know this, but I have a serious soft spot for hedgehogs. I’ve actually had two of the little guys as pets, and they truly are just the cutest things ever. The first little guy started out as a present for my son, but quickly became mine. And the second? Well, I just had to have another. You know how that goes.  I mean come on…. look at them!

AudreyPettit LittleSmileCard2

I had so much fun challenging myself to use only scraps at my scrapbook retreat in January, that I did the same thing on this last trip, too. So once again I packed only a few stamps, my Distress inks, and old paper packs I’m trying to use up. And I was doing just fine until I got distracted by a friend’s new stamps and Zig Clean Color markers… Can you say, sidetracked? But that, my friends, is a whole other story. 😀

AudreyPettit LittleSmileCard3

For this card, I did some water-coloring using my Distress inks and a wet paintbrush. Always a favorite mode of coloring for me because I love the bloom you get from layering the inks. I’ve been hanging onto that tiny scrap of lace for forever, until it found a home here. And the paper, that some of you might remember, is an old collection from Fancy Pants called As You Wish.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day.

So Lucky with Ranger Ink

Hello Friends!

I am so excited to be guest designing today on the Ranger Ink blog. And just in time for St. Patty’s Day, I have got a fun home decor project to share.

So Lucky Altered Frame by Audrey Pettit |

Since this week is St. Patrick’s Day, the good folks at Ranger asked if I would work with one of Tim Holtz’s newest Distress colors, Lucky Clover. And of course I was all about that, because you all know  how much I love me some holiday decor.

AudreyPettit Ranger SoLuckyFrame2
This long and skinny desk frame is a perfect addition to my front entryway table, and only cost me a dollar or two at my local junk shop. So love projects like that.

AudreyPettit Ranger SoLuckyFrame3
I pulled out lots of my favorite colors of Distress to create a fun St. Patty’s Day garden scene for the frame, including Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, and of course, Lucky Clover. And popped them with nice crisp black for good contrast.

AudreyPettit Ranger SoLuckyFrame4
I gave the background the look of depth by layering several Tim Holtz stencils, and created a collage style print on the shamrock leaves with a variety of stencils and stamps. The stems are hand-stitched, and the leaves? They are made with Tim’s Alterations Heartfelt die. Great way to stretch the use of a basic supply you may already have on hand.

AudreyPettit Ranger SoLuckyFrame
The sentiment was created with a mixture of Alterations dies, including some alphas and some script. I die cut the word lucky three times and stacked them together to build up the dimension. Perfect when you need a little extra attention. 😀

I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial up on the Ranger blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Welcome to the My Creative Time 48th Edition Release Blog Hop! Today is a happy day, because finally it’s release day for all of the wonderful products you’ve been seeing in the sneak peeks throughout this past week. I am so excited to be joining in on the fun with a special guest designer project. You should have arrived from Veronica’s blog, but if you’ve gotten lost anywhere along the way, you can always pop back to the start at My Creative Time.

AudreyPettit MCT ForeverFriendCard
For my hop project today, I have made a friendship card using two of the fabulous new sets from this month’s release, the Best Friends Background stamp and the Friendships are Forever stamp and die set. This fun watercolor card is a petite 3.5″ x 5″. But what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with plenty of color and a bold graphic design.

AudreyPettit MCT ForeverFriendCard2
I really love working with watercolors because you get the most beautiful blend of colors, and no two pieces ever turn out exactly the same. For my card, I began by stamping the adorable Best Friends Background stamp in Versamark ink onto a panel of watercolor paper, and then heat embossing with black embossing powder. I let the edges of the embossing fade off for a shabby distressed finish. Then shades of blue and green Distress ink were added with a very wet paintbrush.

AudreyPettit MCT ForeverFriendCard3
The sentiment was made from the Friendships are Forever stamp and die set. I did some partial stamping for the “forever”, and completed the greeting with the complementing die cut. Layered both onto a strip die cut from last month’s versatile Stitched Belly Band set. Then topped all with a bit of trim and sequins.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I am the last stop along the hop. But before we go, here’s a bit of information for you about today’s release.

Deco Foil Valentine Frame with Therm O Web

iCraft-Foils Color-Shot

Valentine’s week continues here on the blog today with another love-themed project share. This time, it’s a little home decor project I made recently for the 2015 CHA Mega Show using Therm O Web’s fabulous new line of Deco Foils.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil LoveFrameI have to say, this is one of my favorite Deco Foil projects, ever. Wish you could see how shiny and beautiful this foil looks in person. The red is so vibrant….. absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day. Love it paired with bold black and just a light soft wash of pale pink. Makes your eye zoom straight to the hearts here, before taking in the cool background. Just what I wanted.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil LoveFrame2I love how the texture on the hearts turned out. This is the look you can achieve when using the liquid Deco Foil glue with the Deco Foils, and I’ve shared this technique with you before on the pretty Deco Foil gift box I shared here recently on the blog. For this effect, I simply applied some liquid Deco glue onto plain white cardstock, then brushed the glue out using a back and forth motion with a wide, flat paintbrush.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil LoveFrame3Once the glue has dried to become completely tacky, it is ready for the foil. I absolutely love how every brush mark shows, creating a unique striae not unlike woodgrain. Once the foil is applied, the piece can be cut, punched, die cut, torn… whatever you wish. I used Tim Holtz’s adorable Love Struck Alterations die here to create my hearts and arrows. I cut slits in the hearts to thread the arrows through, and added tiny hang tags made with a PTI die and my favorite alpha stamps. The shabby background is a work of he{art}, too. I had so much fun making it with my Distress inks and paint, stamps, and torn dictionary paper. I liked how it turned out so much, I recreated the process again on a smaller piece so that I could share a tutorial with you. Click on the link, if you’d like to learn more:
