Visions of Sugarplums Blog Hop- Day 3

Hi everyone, and welcome to day three of the 2016 Visions of Sugarplums Holiday Hop! I am so excited to be joining along with this year’s festivities! You should have arrived from Lisa Bzibziak‘s blog, but if you’ve just popped in, you can find the start of the hop at Choux Choux Paper Art.

For my project today, I have made a matching card and tag set featuring some of my favorite winter wonderland creatures from Papertrey Ink. I don’t know about you, but I am just crazy about cute critter images and stamps…. and then throw in some fun little outfits, and I seriously can’t resist. Cutest things ever!

I pulled out some of my favorite dies to create both a rectangular and circular frame for the card and tag base, and then filled them with winter scenes. I cut gentle slopes from white cardstock for snowy banks, and tucked mountains and trees into the back drop. And for something different, I used patterned paper, instead of cardstock, for the base of each.

All the images were stamped onto watercolor paper, die cut with the matching dies, and then colored using Distress Inks. Lots of icy Stickles glitter glue was then added for some holiday sparkle and shine.

I’ve had so much fun playing along with the holiday hop, and now it’s your turn!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas with Therm O Web

Happy Friday, Crafty Friends!

And happy December! Can you believe we are starting the last month of the year? I am already starting to feel that holiday panic setting in. That worry that I won’t get everything finished in time. Silly, because I always do. But right now, that to-do list is looming large. Anyone else with me on that?

audreypettit-thermoweb-photoplaypaper-merrychristmassetAt least this year, I managed to start my Christmas cards early, which is pretty unheard of for me. Today I’m sharing a holiday gift set I made quite some time ago for Therm O Web, featuring my favorite chippy shabby way to use the iCraft Deco Foil sheets.

audreypettit-thermoweb-photoplaypaper-merrychristmasset2As you all know by now, I love the distressed finish you get from applying the foil with the liquid glue. I added shiny red foil to the frame and label on my card and pillow box, and then embellished Santa’s suit with foil, too. Because we all know the holidays are about that bling.

I die cut double-sided adhesive foam for the December 25th greeting for a more uniform foil coverage. And to dress up my gift set I pulled out lots of old favorites. Dies from Papertrey Ink and My Creative Time. A favorite old holiday Tim Holtz stamp and die set. Paper from Photo Play Paper’s debut release.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! My goal is to finish decorating my tree, and maybe get some shopping done. And I’m looking forward to Choux Choux Paper Art’s annual Visions of Sugar Plums blog hop, starting Sunday.

Hope to see you there!

Easy Holiday Gifts with Therm O Web

Hi Crafty Friends!

Here we are at the last day of November already! Can you believe how quickly the time is going? If you’re like me,  then I’m sure many of you are looking for quick and easy holiday gift giving ideas right about now… and we’ve got lots of great ones for you this month on the Therm O Web blog. Today I have a super easy sweet treat idea to share with you.

I know everyone loves sweets at the holidays. And what sweeter, and easier, last minute gift idea than a simple hot chocolate mix packaged with love?

Jar gift ideas are so fun and easy, and there are so many different things that you can fill them with. I went with a simple hot cocoa mix, topped with white chocolate chips and crushed peppermint candies. Once you fill the jar, then all you need is a bit of ribbon, and a festive tag. Super easy.

I pulled out some well-loved older favorites for the tag…. Papertrey Ink’s Gingerbread Lane stamp set and Tag Sale #4 die. And of course my tag is dressed up with bright red deco foil for a bit of holiday shine. I’ve got the full tutorial for adding foil to your paper projects up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
And looking forward to this weekend…

This year, I am super excited to be joining in on the fun at Choux Choux Paper Art for their annual Visions of Sugarplums blog hop! Hope to see you then!

Jingle All the Way with Therm O Web

Happy Wednesday, Crafty Friends!

It’s not like me to be getting this much of a head start on the holiday season, but today I have another Christmas project to share with you. This time, a card and gift set, made for the Therm O Web blog featuring the new watercolor Deco Foils.

I’m still working on using up some scraps, so started this set with some old favorites. Old oval dies from Papertrey Ink that I just don’t use enough. And adorable old paper from Lawn Fawn’s Peace, Joy, Love collection. A fun look for the holidays, and a great match with Therm O Web’s new Emerald Watercolor foil.

The holly leaves are another older die from Sizzix, cut from double-sided foam and covered with the new foil. I added buttons for holly berries, and twine ties, too. Die cuts from Simple Stories for the sentiment. And for a final touch, one of Tim Holtz’s fabulous new doily dies.

I’ve got written instructions for both projects up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.
Thanks for stopping by today! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

A Feels Like Home Birthday

Happy Monday, Crafty Friends!

I have another card to share with you from what I am calling my “projects from the scrap pile” series. Today I’m building up my stash of birthday cards while re-visiting a super old collection from Little Yellow Bicycle called Feels Like Home.

AudreyPettit LYB HappyBirthdayCard This yellow, grey, and black combo has been one of my absolute favorites lately. And although this paper line was originally meant for fall, I think these colors work well for summer. Especially paired with this retro black-eyed Susan stamp I’ve had in my stash forever, but have never used. Sure feels good to break out the old stuff, doesn’t it?

AudreyPettit LYB HappyBirthdayCard2
I did some simple masking on the panel to create the stem and background flower. Then popped a second flower blossom, water-colored and coated with Glossy Accents, on top. The background was stamped with a woodgrain border stamp from PTI. Another oldie from my stash that had never been used. Bonus points there!

AudreyPettit LYB HappyBirthdayCard3
I had almost forgotten how many items used to come in each Little Yellow Bicycle collection. I tried to use lots of them on my card….. paper and banners and borders. Canvas sticker and vellum tape. Even so, I hardly made a dent in the stash.

Guess I need to keep working at it.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

A Nestled Gift Set with Authentique

Happy Friday, Friends! Today I have a gift set to share that I made for my father’s birthday last week using Authentique’s pretty fall collection, Nestled.

I know what you’re thinking. Candy corn, right? People have rather strong opinions about it, it seems. You either hate it, or you love it. My dad and I….. well we happen to love it. And since his birthday falls one day before National Candy Corn day on October 30th, I thought it would be the perfect treat to slip into his package.

I really love the prints in this Nestled collection. So perfect for a fall birthday, and really great for a masculine design, too. I added in lots of black to make everything pop, and kept my design simple, with rustic touches. The leaves are from a pair of old wood-mount stamps. I colored the stamps with Distress markers, stamped them onto watercolor paper, and then blurred the images a bit with a wet paintbrush. A coat of Distress Crackle Paint gives them some extra interest and shine.

I used lots of stamps and dies to complete my set, from Papertrey Ink and My Creative Time.  I do love how it turned out. And I’m proud to say I did manage to keep my mitts out of the candy corn, too! 😀

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Quilt-Inspired Papercrafts with Therm O Web

Hi Friends, Happy Wednesday! Today I have a quilt-inspired card to share with you, made with Simple Stories’ new Summer Vibes collection and pretty gold iCraft Deco Foil from Therm O Web.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoilBirthdayWishesCardJuly is a big birthday month for me, so I’ve been working on building up my surplus of birthday cards. And what better image for a birthday than a big, ol’ cupcake, right?

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoilBirthdayWishesCard2I seriously love how fun this cupcake is, and to make sure it took center stage, I created a petite 4×4 card base to really show it off.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoilBirthdayWishesCard3
There’s water-coloring and paper piecing. Wink of Stella clear glitter and Glossy Accents. The wrapper has been accented with beautiful Rose Gold deco foil. And the background was blocked and embossed for the look and feel of a worn patchwork quilt. Such a fun shabby chic combo.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoilBirthdayWishesCard4I’ve got all the details up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more. And if you’re interested in any of the products I’ve used today, I’ll link to them below.

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day.

A Santa Set with Authentique

This year, as every year, I find myself faced with my typical holiday card-making dilemma. The problem lies not in the making of cards, oh no… because I do have a stash of Christmas cards ready at hand. No, the problem is that the majority of them don’t seem to want to squeeze themselves into a regular envelope for easy mail-ability, no matter how hard I try.

Today, however, I’ve tackled that problem, and have a set of fun, festive, AND postage-friendly cards to share with you that I made with Authentique’s adorable holiday collection, Believe.

AudreyPettit-Believe-MerryChristmasSet2To me, one of the easiest ways to make cards in bulk is to use stamps and dies for the focal images. And good thing is, they keep things flat, too. The Santa and sentiment images are from Tim Holtz’s Retro Christmas stamp and die set. I threw in my favorite frame die from Papertrey Ink, as well.

Paper is thin, so here’s where you can add lots of detail and definition without adding bulk. I used two solid Foundation papers for the bottom layers followed by one print. Machine stitching around the card edges is another way to add an extra pop of detail without adding thickness.

Add a few sequins, and a simple knot of trim, and there you have it. A quick and easy card design that’s fun and cute and fits into a regular envelope, too. I’ve got a few more details up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more.

So how about YOU? Coming along on your holiday cards?

A Spirited Halloween

Happy Monday, everyone! Thank you all for the sweet comments you left on part one of my Halloween Haunted House Tour. I’m really tickled that you enjoyed it, and I’ll pick up the tour again this Friday. For today, I have some more Halloween to share with you. This time, a card made with Authentique’s new Halloween collection, Spirited.

This card features one of the journaling cards from the Enhancements Cut Apart paper. The 3×4 and 4×6 Enhancements are perfect for pocket scrapbooking, but they also make quick and easy focal points for cards.  Love the sentiment on this one and really wanted to let it shine.

I added a light wash of color to two of the lines with Distress ink. Great way to highlight a few key features. Then added the panel to my card base, pieced from a mixture of 12×12 and 6×6 Bundle papers.

The webs are die cut from my Papertrey Ink web die. The spider is from Sizzix. I coated both with Art Anthology black glitter paint for a final spooky touch.

Gives ya the shivers, doesn’t it? 😉

You + Me

The old routine is feeling a wee bit rusty this morning after having the last five days off. For a part of the country that rarely sees snow and ice these days, we’ve sure been getting quite a bit of it this winter. Luckily, though, we made it through the storm with flying colors and never did lose power. So I’m happy to report that we’ve been snug as a bug, and have even been enjoying a bit of a holiday. Huge thanks to all of you who sent well wishes and checked up on us.

I know Valentine’s Day is over, and we’re all ready to move on, but I remembered this one last card that I haven’t had a chance to share yet. A little love card I made for Authentique’s CHA booth. This is their beautiful Smitten collection.

Papers are all from the 6×6 Bundle. I added a die cut frame and snippets of a paper doily, then made a pretty banner swag using trim and stickers from the Detail sticker sheet. The pretty You + Me banner is from the Components Die Cut paper accents.

Finished off with a few candy buttons from BasicGrey. I do so love those things.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope your Mondays are off to a bright start. While most of the country is off for President’s Day, we start the long task of making up 7 days of missed school. One down, six more to go! Have a great day!
