A Sweet as Honey Mother’s Day with PhotoPlay Paper

Happy Thursday, crafty friends! With Mother’s Day quickly approaching this weekend, I thought now was the perfect time to share this mom card that I made for PhotoPlay Paper featuring their adorable Sweet as Honey collection.

As you may guess from the cute garden gnome, Sweet as Honey is a continuation of the popular Tulla & Norbert product line that PhotoPlay began releasing last year. This kit is perfect for spring and summer with it’s bright sunny colors and garden theme filled with flowers and bees. I created an outdoorsy scene for my card using stickers from the collection and a couple of die sets. I really love all the flowers, and I think most moms would, too.

To turn this card from an everyday card into a Mother’s Day card, I used a sentiment die set from PhotoPlay’s Say it With Stamps collection to die cut the word Mom into the front of the card. Once die cut, I nestled the wording back in place, adhering it to the inside of the card to create a fun, peek-a-boo window for a little element of surprise.

I hope all of you celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday have an amazing weekend! And thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Mother’s Day with Ranger Ink

Happy Saturday, crafty friends! This past week I had the great pleasure of creating a Mother’s Day project tutorial for the Ranger Ink Project Page. And since this is Mother’s Day weekend for those of us in the States, I wanted to share my project here with you, too.

This larger 5×7 card was created with my mother in mind. She loves bird images and nature scenes, so of course I thought these fabulous Tim Holtz birds from the Feathered Friends die set would be perfect for her. And in this larger size format, this card could be displayed as is, or placed into a standard 5×7 frame to be used as a home decor piece all year round.

I’ve become quite addicted to these birds. I think they are my top favorite set from Tim’s Chapter 2 2020 release. I often pair them with another favorite die set, Funky Wreath, and I’ve done that again here. Although these dies cut tradition round wreath shapes, I’ve found they can be easily manipulated into other forms when snipped apart and softened with a bit of water coloring. I added in some small die cut flowers from an older set, and personalized the card with a Tiny Type alphabet sentiment.

My mom has already received this card, so no spoilers here. Love you, Mom!

As always, I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial for this project up on the Ranger Ink Project Page, if you’d like to learn more.

Mother’s Day with Ranger Ink

Hello Friends! Happy Monday!

Apologies for the very late start to my blog post! My internet was down for most of the day, and has only just come back online. Just in time for me to sneak in with a sweet Mother’s Day card project that I have up on the Ranger Ink blog today.

I have been so taken recently with the new Tim Holtz Scroll die mixed with some of his wildflower thinlits, and this seemed the perfect combo once again for Mother’s Day. After all, all moms love flowers, right?

This time I used the newer Wildflower #2 set, water colored with Distress inks and Distress Oxide, along with the shiny glam look of gold Deco paper for the “greens”. I embossed the frame with the Lace Texture Fade and die cut the opening with my favorite Stitched Ovals die set. Use some new goodies like an Index Clip, Salvaged Baseboard, and Quotation sticker.

The inside is embellished with a die cut word strip and accent Clippings sticker. I used some of the leftover letters to add the sentiment on the outside, too.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial up on the Ranger Ink blog, if you’d like to learn more!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you’re all having a wonderful day!

Amazing Mom with Photo Play Paper

Recently Photo Play Paper asked me to go back into the archives to create a couple of Mother’s Day cards featuring one of their very first collections ever, Family Ties. Last week I shared the first card with gift card holder (click here for that post), and today I’m happy to be here with the second.

Family Ties was really a bit of a unique collection in that it included papers, journaling cards, and stickers for all the different family members. And of course since this is a Mother’s Day card, I used a mix of the girly elements here.

Love this beautiful Mother journaling card, and it sure makes card designs easy. A few layers of patterned papers, with foam adhesive between for dimension, and some beautiful rose cardstock stickers. I cut a bit of paper for photo corners. Finished off with enamel dots, too.

I love the navy in this collection. That mixed with orange is one of my all-time favorite color combos. A reminder that summer is on its way.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Mother’s Day Wishes with Therm O Web

Happy Wednesday, Crafty Friends!

Today I have a Mother’s Day card to share that I made for the Therm O Web blog. This card features a bit of stamping, a bit of trendy Deco Foil, and a quick and easy inlay die cut technique using iCraft adhesive tape.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCardMy mom loves flowers, as most mother’s do. You should see her gorgeous yard. When I picture her house, I almost always envision the front courtyard. My dad built a beautiful wooden arbor there, and wisteria was planted at the base of the poles. Fast forward many years later, and now that wisteria has filled the entire front patio. And when it’s in bloom, those amazing blossoms hang down from the canopy like some magical fairy wonderland.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard2My bedroom at home looks out over the courtyard. And last time we visited, the wisteria was in bloom. So many happy memories. I’m sure it will come as no surprise that these rich colors of deep lilac purple and green, well… they make me think of home. And although these flowers aren’t wisteria, I think they will do. 😀

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard3These pretty flowers are from Stampin’Up’s Bloom with Hope set. I stamped the images in black ink, doing a bit of masking to add the greenery around the flowers. And then colored them all with Copic markers. I die cut the panel with My Creative Time’s Stitched Square dies, and then created a matching frame from the dies, too. The outer frame has been embellished with Therm O Web Deco Foil in the gorgeous new Lilac color. Inlay die cutting keeps the framework seamless.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard4I added some pretty BasicGrey patterned paper, and a button from the new 28 Lilac Lane collection. A stenciled background, and a quick sentiment strip finish the design. You may notice I did something a little different with the card base, too. I’ve got the full tutorial, including details on the foiled frame and inlay die cutting, up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back a day early tomorrow for the special Buttons Galore & More 28 Lilac Lane Blog Hop. Hope to see you all then!

My Creative Time Release Week- I’d Pick You

Hi everyone, and welcome to day 3 of sneak peeks for My Creative Time‘s 41st Edition Release. Today we are showcasing a beautiful new set called Love YOU Bunches, and I am excited to be joining in on the fun with this sweet and shabby Mother’s Day card.

AudreyPettit MCT PickYouCardThe Love YOU Bunches set contains ten lovely stamp images for celebrating Mom and all those special women in your life. I made a card for my momma using my favorite flower from this set, in a happy bumble-bee color palette perfect for spring. I absolutely love the flowers in this set, and love the mixture of sentiment even more. And what could be better than having dies made to match, too?

AudreyPettit MCT PickYouCard2
To highlight my focal flower, I created an oval window using dies from the Scalloped Stitched Ovals set. One of my favorite things about these dies is that there is stitching around the inside and the outside of the frames, so whether you use the positive shape, the negative, or a mixture of both like I’ve done here, you will always see the fabulous stitched lines. I popped my top panel up with foam dots for lots of depth and dimension. Love the peek-a-boo quality that gives to the frame.

AudreyPettit MCT PickYouCard3
I stamped the flower onto watercolor paper, once with the entire image and a second time using just the blossom. Colored the images with markers and Distress, then die cut just the flower head using the matching die. The die cut was centered over the floral image and adhered using pop dots. A bit of Glossy Accents was added to the very middle of the flower. A sentiment from the set, stamped onto cream cardstock and wrapped over the oval opening, adds the final touch.

For Mom

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday with your loved ones this past weekend.  We had a quiet, yet very nice time.  It was so relaxing to have had the week off to chill with my bambinos and enjoy the gorgeous weather we’ve been having lately.  I spent quite a bit of time in a chair out on my deck with a good book and my sweet pup.  She is, as always, my constant companion.

And although I was worried about my kiddos getting older, both of them decided they were not so mature that they wouldn’t except a little Easter basket from their old mom, and an egg hunt from the Easter Bunny.  Ah, are these not the best of times??

And more good times are expected yet today as we celebrate my Peanut’s 12th birthday.  Happy, happy birthday, sweet Nicole!  You can stop growing now! 😉

Here is a little scrappy share from me today.

My card for the 4th challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room, which is to create a card or project using mainly white or cream with just one other color.

Have I mentioned yet how in love I am with this new Clothesline collection from Little Yellow Bicycle?  Yikes, baby……it is gorgeous.  Probably my absolute favorite line to come out in quite some time.  I used the papers, chipboard and decorative pins here, along with a bit of ribbon and hemp, some machine stitching, and a white flower from Prima.

Going to give this to my mom on Mother’s Day. 🙂

Don’t look, Mom!

Thanks for stopping by everyone!  I always love to hear from you!
