Very Merry Ornaments with Authentique and Petaloo

Our friends at Petaloo International have joined up with us for a week of fun, inspiration, and prizes on the Authentique blog. All week long, the designers have been showcasing seasonal project ideas featuring Authentique papers and Petaloo notions and trim.

For my project, I made these festive paper ornaments using one of my all-time favorite dies from Papertrey Ink, the mitten.

Each ornament is made up of two paper mittens, stitched together around the outside, and dressed up with lots of pretty trims, berries and leaves. I left the tops of the mittens open, turning these little cuties into pocket ornaments, perfect for filling with small trinkets or sweets.

The pretty papers are from Authentique’s holiday collection, Believe, with the addition of a small bit of Faith paper used on the small round tags. The beautiful wide lace is Petaloo, as are the holly berry and twine clusters. I added some shabby hand-dyed crinkle ribbon and a pair of stitched paper leaves, too.

The finished ornaments look great hanging on the tree or tied onto holiday packages, and can be filled with small treats for an instant holiday gift idea. I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more. And be sure to leave a comment while you are there for your chance to win an Authentique prize package.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Wishing You the Best of Everything

Hi everyone! I’m back today with another Authentique card featuring their new fall collection, Grateful. This time, I thought I would show another side to this beautiful thanksgiving line and share a birthday card I made for my dad’s end of October birthday.

Since this card was made with my father’s birthday in mind, I tried to keep the design a bit more on the masculine side, and added in some stamps to help carry out my birthday theme. And those stamps….. oy. Definitely going old school there. I’m pleased to say that I’m kicking it all the way back to 2001 with those Stampin’Up sets. Bonus points to me for using supplies from the crypt.

I added in a bit of subtle detailing to keep things flat for mailing. An Authentique diction sticker. A few hand stitches. Just a wee bit of twine.

And once again a scalloped border made with the Mini Scallops design template from our product partners on the blog last week, Kiwi Lane Designs.

And looking ahead to this weekend.

I’ll be sharing a frosty project on the Therm O Web blog that I can’t wait to share with you all. It all starts Friday on the Clearsnap blog. Hope to see you all then!

So Many Blessings

Brrrr….. it has turned frosty on us this morning. What a difference a day can make, changing from October to November. Fall has been a bit slow in coming to our neck of the woods this year, but I do believe it is finally here. The air has taken on that crisp chill, and now when I look out my windows, I can finally see a bit of color in the leaves.

This weekend was spent mostly in packing up all my Halloween things. It’s hard to see them go, but I am ready for November, and all that it brings. So to celebrate this new month, I thought I would share a very Thanksgiving card with you today, made with Authentique’s new autumn collection, Grateful.

Of course, it being fall, I had to throw in a few autumn leaves to go along with that sweet thanksgiving sentiment. Added in a bit of vellum, too, using a mini scallop border template from our product partner, Kiwi Lane Designs. Makes me think of the frosty morning we are having outside.

So many blessings. Yes, that’s what I have. And when I stop to count them all, I always add in YOU!

Happy November, my friends

All Hallow’s Eve with Authentique

Hello Friends! Two more days until Halloween! One of my most favorite days of all! With the big day so quickly approaching, I know it is just about time to put away the spooks for another year… but today I am back with one last Halloween project to share. A door hanger made with Authentique’s haunted Spirited collection and design templates from our product partner, Kiwi Lane.

I absolutely adore the haunted house image on the 12×12 Eerie paper, so decided to showcase it on today’s project. With just a bit of ink, paper, and the fun Mini Scallops template from Kiwi Lane, I transformed a simple piece of paper into a super spooky wall hanging.

I had fun adding color and detail to the scene with Distress Ink, Markers, and Stickles Glitter. And I added texture with cotton batting and lots of trims. Love the combo of spooky and soft.

I used the Mini Scallops shape as both a template, creating a scalloped border across the bottom of the hanging, and as a mask to make the inked borders across the side and top. I really like how the masked image looks a bit like curtains on a stage, and creates a cool framework for my title sign, diction stickers, and haunted house.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more about today’s project.
Thanks so much for stopping by! And looking ahead, I’ve got a wee bit more Halloween Haunted House Tour to share with you on Friday…

A Wooden Mitten with Authentique

I love keeping my eye out for unusual items to alter, and recently I came across this cute wooden mitten ornament at the thrift store. The original paint job and decals didn’t go with my decor, but I knew it would be easy to alter and up-cycle using some of my favorite scrappy supplies.
With just a bit of paint and a few touches, I now have an adorable ornament to love or to gift. And it was easy, too, thanks to the help of some fun Kiwi Lane Design templates, our product partner this week on the Authentique blog.
The holly was made with Kiwi Lane’s Christmas Accessory template set and Authentique Joyous 6×6 Bundle paper. I added machine stitching down the center of each leaf and then lightly folded them for a bit of lifelike dimension. Then some ink and mica glitter to the edges before tucking them up into the bow. The tag is from the 12×12 Statements sheet, dressed up with some Details stickers. So easy, and so fun!

A Gift for You

Hi everyone, and happy Monday to you! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had a lovely and lazy time, and even managed to get my first sunburn of the year. Guess I don’t know what to do with this warm weather called spring anymore, it being so foreign and all.

This ended up being a pretty big weekend for us. We had a bit of a birthday celebration for Nik on Friday night, and then the really big part…..we pulled the trigger and signed college acceptance forms for Mr. Pete. I am now the parent of an official college student. Go Spartans!

Today I have a fun treat bag to share with you that I made for the Authentique blog. Recently, the team was given templates from Kiwi Lane to play with, and I used both their tags and scalloped border templates for my project, along with Authentique’s beautiful Hope collection.

Here you can get a really good view of all those yummy scallops. I simply cut strips of patterned papers, traced either the large or small scallop template, cut, and layered to cover the front of my bag. The Kiwi Lane templates are easy to use and are a great alternative for those without a die cutting system. Way less expensive, too.

Tied my handmade parchment paper goody bag with seam binding and added a quick tag made from the Kiwi Lane templates. A few Hope cardstock stickers and vintage buttons add the final touch.

For more ideas using Kiwi Lane, stop by the Authentique blog. Be sure to leave a comment while you are there for your chance to win this great prize package. Winners will be announced at the end of the month.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you all a wonderful day!
