A Wooden Mitten with Authentique

I love keeping my eye out for unusual items to alter, and recently I came across this cute wooden mitten ornament at the thrift store. The original paint job and decals didn’t go with my decor, but I knew it would be easy to alter and up-cycle using some of my favorite scrappy supplies.
With just a bit of paint and a few touches, I now have an adorable ornament to love or to gift. And it was easy, too, thanks to the help of some fun Kiwi Lane Design templates, our product partner this week on the Authentique blog.
The holly was made with Kiwi Lane’s Christmas Accessory template set and Authentique Joyous 6×6 Bundle paper. I added machine stitching down the center of each leaf and then lightly folded them for a bit of lifelike dimension. Then some ink and mica glitter to the edges before tucking them up into the bow. The tag is from the 12×12 Statements sheet, dressed up with some Details stickers. So easy, and so fun!

A ‘Joyous’ Gift Box with Authentique & Petaloo

Wishing you all a very happy Monday, my friends! This week, we have a bit of fun for you, as the team from Petaloo is joining with us at Authentique to bring you a week long blog hop full of holiday inspiration and prizes. It is going to be a great week, so I hope you come and join us for all the fun.

As one who loves all the baubles, tinsel, and trim of the holiday, having beautifully wrapped packages under the tree is one of my favorite parts of the Christmas season. To me, it’s just as important that the outside of the present be as nice as what’s inside. What I don’t love, however, is an overly complicated gift wrap that takes a lot of time to create, so I’m always on the lookout for quick and easy ideas. And I think I’ve found a great one to share with you here today.

AudreyPettit-Joyous-Petaloo-HeartBeLightI think my all-time favorite wrap is simple brown kraft paper. The natural look works for every person on my gift-giving list, any age, male or female, and it is so easy to personalize your package with a few basic scrapbooking supplies, like I’ve done here.

A pretty gift like this is sure to wow your recipient and look like a million bucks. And the best thing is, this wrap is actually very simple to make, thanks to the help of a few pre-fab die cuts, Petaloo flowers, and trim. Just wrap your package in kraft wrapping paper, and add instant detail and fun with an Authentique die cut Petite Folder and ribbon.

Add a few bows topped by banner-cut paper strips, and then layer on the Petaloo flowers.

Tuck in a Jigsaw Puzzle piece die cut for the gift tag, and your package is ready for gifting. I’ve got the full instructions up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Be sure to stop by both the Authentique and Petaloo blogs all this week for lots of amazing projects from both teams, and for your chance to enter to win some fabulous prize packages. Good luck everyone, and thanks so much for stopping by today!

Good Times & Good Cheer

AudreyPettit-Joyous-CandyPouches4Today I am taking a small break from my beloved Halloween to share with you a Christmas sweet treats project that I made with Authentique’s adorable Joyous collection and our product partner this week, Core’dinations.

I love giving out sweets at the holiday, and I’m always on the lookout for new and unique ways to package them for gifting. These kraft paper pocket pouches are great for holding baked goods and sweets, and make a fabulous gift all by themselves, or as an extra treat tucked into a stocking. I filled mine with my kiddos’ favorite candies and clipped them closed at the top, but you could also leave them open and insert a glassine or cello bag filled with larger treats, too. I think candy canes peeking out the top would be adorable.

I love that this project is so easily adaptable for either larger or smaller pockets, if needed. Mine are 5″ squares, but you could truly make any size you need, and could even change up the shape, if you wish. I recommend using the kraft wrapping paper on a roll, or even recycled grocery bags, for the base, as the thinner paper is a bit more flexible and will expand more than other papers.

Once your pockets are constructed, you can have fun adding layers and details.

I’ve got the complete step-by-step directions for creating these treats up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more. And leave a comment while you are there for your chance to win an amazing prize package of treats for yourself! Thanks so much for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you all a fabulous day!

Christmas Greetings with Authentique

It’s the end of the first week of school and the start of a long holiday weekend. What a wonderful combination, and what a very wonderful weekend this will be. Not only do we get an extra day off, but this weekend just so happens to be extra special, as it is Mr. Pete’s big 18th birthday! So of course that means I get to see my boy again this weekend. And that, in turn, makes this old momma happy, happy, happy.

One might could say I’m feeling rather joyous. A perfect day to share a bit of Authentique Joyous with all of you!

AudreyPettit_July_Joyous_Christmas Greetings FrameThis cutie pie little frame is another project I created for Authentique’s CHA Create n’ Connect booth last month. It was just the right size to showcase that adorable Santa, which has got to be my most favorite image in the entire collection. I simply added one of the scalloped shapes from the Frames & Corners die cut sheet to the opening of the frame. Then the Santa cut from the Magical 12×12 paper fits perfectly behind.

AudreyPettit_July_Joyous_Christmas Greetings Frame2The frame itself is another of my junk store finds. I removed the glass and lightly sanded the wood. A few swipes of white and brown ink give the project an instant sense of age. Tied the bottom of the frame with a big happy bow, dressed up with a few die cut leaves, brads, and decorative pins. The sentiment strip is from the top of the Santa image, which I cut off to fit the frame. Doesn’t get much easier than that, my friends.

A Joyous Gift Card

Have you all been picking out your favorite new collections released for CHA last week? Wow, is it ever hard to choose just one! I will admit that there have been shows when I could honestly take or leave a lot of the new products, but this time……I want to take pretty much all of it. Better get back in that scraproom of mine and clear out some space, cause this girl wants to do some shopping!

ca4ce-joy_sneak_peek28129Usually at this time of year, I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the fall, Halloween, and Christmas collections released at summer CHA. But since this summer has been basically nothing but rain and gloom, I’m having no trouble getting in a holiday frame of mind. Especially since I want every seasonal collection I’ve managed to see so far! Like this adorable new Joyous collection by Authentique.

AudreyPettit_July_Joyous_HollyJollyGiftCardHolderI was very excited to have the opportunity to create a few Joyous projects for the Authentique booth at CHA last week, and today I’m happy to share the first with you here.  This bi-fold tag holder has all the fun of a traditional holiday card, with the added benefit of pockets on the inside to hold tags, Christmas letters and photos, and even a gift card or two. A perfect little holiday gift and greeting, all in one.

AudreyPettit_July_Joyous_HollyJollyGiftCardHolder3The chalkboard look has been all the rage this past year, and I’m happy to say that this line is filled with yummy chalkboard papers and accents. I just love the look, and adore that vivid pop of black with the traditional holiday colors. And besides all the fun chalkboard elements, Joyous is a full-line release with lots and lots of embellishments to choose from.

I have the full supply list and complete step-by-step instructions for creating this fun tag card holder up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more.

And here’s a few more photos of the Authentique CHA booth, if you haven’t had a chance to see.
