Semi-Scrappy Holiday 2019- Day 1

Happy Wednesday, crafty friends! Today I’m excited to kick off my annual “scrappy holiday” card series here on my blog. Those of you who have followed me for awhile know that I set a goal each year to try to use up some old paper kits and scraps on my holiday card makes. Amazing how hard that seems to be, as those paper scraps tend to multiply instead of divide…. but I do my best to give it a try. Today’s card is only a “semi-scrappy” holiday design, because although the paper is eons old, the stamps and dies I used are brand new.

Gnomes are seriously on-trend right now, and this Kringle & Co stamp and die set from Photo Play Paper has some of the cutest I’ve seen this year. I made a little snowy scene for my guy using old rectangle framelits dies from Sizzix and Stitched Slopey Joes border dies from Heffy Doodle. A light ink blending of Distress pink and green inks on the background gives a sense of space and depth, and coordinates with that Basic Grey 25th & Pine paper that I’ve spent years trying to use up.

I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the snowy hillside before popping that piece up with foam tape for dimension. The trees and gnome were stamped on Bristol smooth card stock and watercolored with Zig Clean Color markers, die cut, and popped into the scene with more foam to add different layers to the design. A pair of ephemera die cuts added to the top finishes the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Fall Blessings with Newton’s Nook

Here we go, friends! The last fall project of the season… once again, featuring those adorable Autumn Mice from Newton’s Nook. This time, paired with the fall Mad4Plaid collection by Photo Play Paper.

Tim Holtz Stitched Circle dies and Heffy Doodle Stitched Slopey Joes Border dies were used to cut the focal frame, which was popped onto the card base with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension. Then a simple twine die and a die cut ephemera sentiment finish the design.

I’m going to hate to say goodbye to these cute autumn mice. But fortunately, I have the holiday mice, too! Thanks so much for stopping by, and wishing you all many fall blessings!

Life’s Small Moments with Newton’s Nook

Happy Monday, crafty friends! I’m back today with another card featuring those adorable Autumn Mice from Newton’s Nook. The weather outside, and the calendar page, are telling me that fall is quickly slipping away… but I just can’t resist these sweet critters. And like this little guy, I am definitely trying to savor life’s small moments these days. It’s my birthday week, and I have some fun adventures planned that I am really looking forward to. Not only that, Thanksgiving will soon be here, too, and that means my kids will come home for the holiday. So many happy moments to be thankful for!

I really love this Happy Haunting paper from Simple Stories, and tried to match my Copic coloring to these softer pastel colors. Then added in some bold black and crisp white to make the colors pop. Tim Holtz Stitched Squares dies were used to cut the window opening. And then I made a little hillside with Heffy Doodle Stitched Slopey Joes Border Dies.

I have one more fall project to share later this week, and then I know, I know…. it’s time to move on to the holidays! Hope you all have a wonderful day, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Best in the Mewniverse with Therm O Web & Heffy Doodle

Hi crafty friends!

It’s Heffy Doodle collaboration week at the Therm O Web blog. I’m up today with a pair of quick and easy friendship cards featuring adorable Heffy Doodle stamps and dies mixed with Therm O Web’s awesome new iCraft Deco Foil Flock.

I am always a sucker for cute critters and silly puns, so of course I couldn’t resist this sweet Mewniverse stamp set from Heffy Doodle. One of my besties looooooves cats, like to self-proclaimed crazy cat lady levels… and these two cards are definitely going to her.

The cards are a petite 3.5″ x 5″ size, and I kept the designs uniform with similar elements. All the images were stamped onto Therm O Web Luxury White cardstock, die cut with the matching dies, and colored with Copic markers. I used GinaK Designs nested dies to create the stitched rectangle and circle frames.

The puffy cloud backgrounds on both cards were made with a cloud punch and a blend of blue and green Distress inks.

The leftover cloud shapes used for the stenciling made great embellishments for card #2, and I threw in some patterned paper for extra detailing on this card, too. Heffy Doodle Stitched Slopey Joes Border Dies and Green Envy Flock sheets made the cute little grassy hills.

I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial for both of these cards up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more. And we’ve got an awesome Therm O Web & Heffy Doodle prize of a $30 shopping spree, so be sure to enter our giveaway drawing while you are there.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you’re having a beautiful sunshiny week!
