A Butterfly Birthday with Tim Holtz & Sizzix

Hi Friends! Happy Monday to you!

I definitely woke up to a little crisp in the air this morning, which just proves that my very favorite month of the year must be here, October! It is just about time for spooks, my friends, and I can’t wait to start sharing some of my Halloween projects and decor with you all.

But for today, I have a pair of birthday cards to share with you that I made awhile back for the Sizzix blog featuring the fabulous Flutter line of stamps and dies by Tim Holtz.

It seems like I am always in need of birthday cards, so I like to try to build up a stash of ready-made cards to keep on hand. The new Tim Holtz Flutter butterflies are so beautiful and fun to use, and work really well for year-round birthday card designs. Today I’ve created a bit of a summer-inspired look using light pastel colors in an earthy color palette, paired with lots of crisp white and bold black to make everything pop.

I used a variety of different Flutter butterfly images to stamp the background paper, and then die cut and colored one to be the focus of the design, nestled within a Tim Holtz Stitched Circle die cut frame. I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial up on the Sizzix blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope to be back on Friday with the beginnings of my 2018 Halloween Haunted House Tour! Until then, wishing you all a wonderful week!

A Birthday Hi

This past weekend, I got a very happy email with some very happy news. And I’m so excited to share it with you!

Seems I have been chosen to be part of Little Yellow Bicycle’s newest cycling team! I’ll be guest designing next month with their adorable Makin’ the Grade collection. How fun, right?  I would love it if you all could pop over to the Little Yellow Bicycle blog and cheer me on!

This past weekend was also birthday celebration time for my sweet friend, Kathie. I pulled out my scrappy supplies to make her a fun gift tag to coordinate with her gift bag. Couldn’t resist using the adorable Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection again. I do have such a hard time staying away from this line. 🙂

The tag was inspired by that cute scooter cardstock sticker. I thought it would be fun to have the scooter pulling a birthday banner. So I stamped up a birthday sentiment and created a little scene for my scooter complete with grassy hill and cloudy skies.

Stitched cloud vellum onto the background of the tag and added a “hill” of patterned paper to the bottom. Added ruffled trim to the bottom and wrapped the tag in pink baker’s twine. The little flowers and the glittered cloud are from the Dear Lizzy Flutter line. More oldies but goodies from my stash!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and thanks for letting me share my happy news with you! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
