2017 Halloween Haunted House Tour Kick-Off

Hello, hello Friends, and welcome to my Haunted House!
As most of you know by now, Fall is my most favorite season of the year, and October is by far my favorite month. It’s become an annual tradition around these parts to share my Halloween haunts and spooks with all of you, and today I am super excited to kick off the start of this year’s house tour. Step this way, my Pretties, and let the haunting begin!

This year I thought we’d begin in my dining room, which is always one of my favorite spots to decorate. Not only is it one of the first rooms you see when entering my house, I also love the decorating potential of all the shelves on my antique sideboard. Such a great spot to pile up lots and lots of spooks!

This year’s theme in the dining room? Skulls and bones and ghosts, in a crisp black and white color palette to match my dishes. With just a hint of pumpkin orange added to the mix.

I know most of you have toured with me many times before, so some of these scenes will have become familiar to you. But hopefully artfully rearranged for this year’s tour. I’ve taken lots of photos to share, zooming in on all the tiny details. So sit back and relax, and welcome to the tour!

I do so hope you enjoyed the beginning of the tour!  And just in case anyone is looking for a few new spooks of their own, I’ve uncovered a few extra goodies from last year while going through my bins…. like these spooky skulls and a few of their friends.
You can find them HERE in my AudOnes Prims Shop!

Until next time, hope you have a wonderful weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

A Little Dose of Happy with Tammy Tutterow & Spellbinders

Hi Sweet Friends, and happy Monday once again!
Hope you all have had a super wonderful week! Any big plans in the works for this tail end of summer?

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like autumn is almost here? I know the official date is still weeks away, but once school starts and Labor Day approaches, I feel like we’ve turned the corner on our seasons. And I, for one, am really looking forward to fall.

Labor Day weekend is my boy’s birthday. He will be 22 this year…. which is so hard to believe. I’m looking forward to having him home for the long weekend, and possibly my wee Missy Nik, too. I’ve got plans for baking some of Pete’s favorite treats and wrapping a few pressies. Sweet homey things that make this old mom’s heart burst with happy.
So it seemed rather fitting to share this “little dose of happy” card here with you today.

This card is made with some of the most adorable cling stamps from my dear friend Tammy Tutterow’s collection with Spellbinders. This is the pretty Sunflower Bunch stamp, along with a sentiment from the Tiny Sentiments set. The images were die cut with Tim Holtz Stitched Circles. And a bit of paper busting from my stash.

Thank you all so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a fabulous week ahead. And in case you’re interested, a little news on my AudOnes Prims shop….

I will be unveiling my fall collection this weekend.
Grand Opening is this Sunday,
September 3rd @ 1:00 p.m. EST

2016 Halloween Haunted House Tour- Finale

2016-halloween-haunted-houseHello, Friends!

Happy Halloween to all my favorite spooks and goblins! So of course today is the holiday, and as per usual with me, I’ve gone right down to the wire with preparations…. but I am finally ready for the day. My Little Missy Nik and I spent the day yesterday running around last minute searching for pumpkins, which ended up being quite the task. After 6 stops, we ended up coming home with two free pumpkins, and a dancing skeleton strobe light we happened upon at Home Depot. I’d say that’s pretty lucky.

So now, pumpkins are carved, candy bowls are full, and happy skeletons are dancing across my garage doors. All that’s left to do is to finish my 2016 Halloween Haunted House Tour. So let’s get to it!

Today’s stop is my front entryway table and bench. The first spot that greets visitors.

The large basket below my entryway table is the perfect spot for piling and tucking lots of my favorite things. If you don’t have a ton of space, this is a great way to make a simple group arrangement, and is so quick and easy to change out for different holidays.

The entry table is small, but packs a big punch. I always keep it decorated for the seasons. Even if I don’t have too many pieces for each holiday, it’s not too hard to find enough for this tiny space.

Do you spy my sweet pup? She never strays too far from my side.

A few more of my beloved Lori Mitchell figurines. And my favorite vintage-inspired pumpkinhead doll.

An old milk jug, filled with Halloween branches and picks. And a treasured piece of art work that came home from school many years ago featuring a pair of my most favorite itty bitty feet.

And next to my entryway table, nestled against the base of the stairs, is my front bench. Another perfect spot for decorating.

Of course both the top and bottom need some friends.

More baskets and trays to fill and stuff.

You may recognize some of these prims from my Fall Shop this year. Here is my Hoot Owl and Ghosties… and some spooky skulls as well.

P.S.- today is the last day of my 2016 Fall Shop, and there are still a few little prims in need of a new home, in case you are interested.

And that, my friends, wraps up Halloween for this year! Thank you all so much for joining me on the tour once again! I hope you enjoyed! ❤

Happy Haunting!

2016 Halloween Haunted House Tour II

Hello Friends! Happy Monday!

Welcome back to day two of my 2016 Halloween Haunted House Tour. Today I thought we’d pick up where we left off last week, and head into my haunted sunroom.

The sunroom is probably my most favorite room in my house because of all the light that streams in through two solid walls of windows. Here I’ve got a pair of comfy reading chairs that are perfect for perching and taking in all the spooky spooks.

This year I’ve got a bit of a theme going in the sunroom…. black cats, and lots of them. They are pretty much everywhere, starting on the feather wreath on the back deck door, and winding all throughout the room.

I’ve got black cat ornaments on my tinsel tree. Another pulling a pumpkin sled. And another one taking a ride in the back. And that’s just the beginning.

I haven’t stopped to count how many cats are actually here, but I think it’s now fairly official. I have become a crazy cat lady! I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

In other spooky spots, there are some haunted mansions in the window frame. The mobile is this year’s Halloween card from my sweet mom. She always finds the most unique cards ever.

My vintage laundry cart is filled with pumpkins and prims.

More black cats, of course. And there’s Mimsie the Mummy from my fall shop last year.

My Missy Nik made those kleenex ghosties when she was wee little, and nostalgic me….  I saved them. Such a perfect way to spook up a tiny Halloween tree and bring back lots of happy memories.

Cats in baskets.

And cats in trees. And of course a witch needs a good cat companion, too.

And we’ll top it off with a pumpkin or two.

Here’s a good stop for today, at the door near the dining room entrance. We’ll pick up here next time.
And until then…
Happy Haunting!

Pumpkin Parts Pillow Tucks with Sizzix- a Tutorial

Hello, Crafty Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by!

It’s still awfully hot outside, but I am in full-on fall crafting mode here at my house. Once school starts, it seems rather official…. summer is over, and fall has begun. Regardless of the temperatures outside. 😀

AudreyPettit Sizzix PumpkinPartsPillowTucks
As hard as it is to see summer come to an end, I always welcome the arrival of fall. My most favorite season of all. I love everything about the fall, from the holidays to the leaves and colors and crisp air. And pumpkins… ohmyword, how I love pumpkins.

AudreyPettit Sizzix PumpkinPartsPillowTucks3
Some of my happiest memories involve going to the pumpkin patch in my small rural town when I was a child. Yes, a real pumpkin patch, several acres wide, filled with pumpkins as far as the eye could see. Picking the right pumpkin was a serious process in my family. No hasty choices were allowed. You had to survey the field, narrow down the possibilities, and then make the final decision. My mom always wanted us to pick the oddballs, the weird, and the unusual. But me, I always wanted the perfect round orange beauty.

This weekend, I crafted up some sweet little pillow tucks, topped with the most perfect round orange pumpkin of them all. Such an easy process when you have a die to do all the work for you. I’ve got a quick tutorial to share with you, so let’s take a closer look.

AudreyPettit Sizzix PumpkinPartsPillowTucksTut11. Gather your supplies. You’ll need fabrics for the pillow backing, as well as the pumpkin, and the Pumpkin Parts Bigz die by Sizzix and Tim Holtz.

2. Die cut the pumpkin shape from orange and green fabrics. I used my favorite fabric from the Crossroads Denim collection by Indygo Junction. Since the Pumpkin Parts die is a Bigz steel-rule die, it cuts through heavier materials, like fabric, like a dream. Simply place your fabric pieces on top of the die, sandwich the die between two Standard Cutting Plates, and run the die through your die cutting machine.

3. Here are all the individual pieces from the die. The stem from green fabric, and the body and sections of the pumpkin from orange.

4. Assemble the individual pieces. I like to place a small amount of tacky glue on the back of the pieces to hold them in place.

AudreyPettit Sizzix PumpkinPartsPillowTucks Tut21. Fold the pillow backing fabric in half, with the right sides facing. Pin pillow pattern to the fabric. I created a simple rectangular pattern that was slightly larger than the size of the pumpkin from a piece of copy paper. Cut out the pattern.

2. Adhere or pin the pumpkin to the center of the front of the pillow backing. Blanket stitch around the edges of each section of the pumpkin.

3. Using the pillow pattern, cut two pieces of Therm O Web Stitch n’ Sew fleece. Put the pillow front and pillow back together, with right sides facing. Sandwich the pillow pieces between the two pieces of fleece, and pin together. Machine stitch around the edges of the pillow, leaving an opening ~ 2″ wide for turning.

4. Turn the pillows right side out. Add a button and a small piece of curly-q twine to the top of the pumpkin. (To get your twine to curl, dip a length of twine in tacky glue and then wrap it around a straw or skewer. Once the glue dries, the twine can easily be removed, yet retains its shape.) Stuff the pillows with poly-fill fiber, and whip stitch the openings closed.

Mimsie the Mummy’s Makeover

Hello my friends! I’m sneaking back in today with another AudOnes Prims Halloween share. I know I said I was done, but you all know how that goes. 😀 Technically though, this isn’t something new. Rather, it’s a re-do. Mimsie the Mummy has had a makeover. Check her out now!

AudOnes MimsieMummy
I really have moved on to working on my upcoming holiday shop. But in cleaning up my studio, I came across one more little Mimsie the Mummy, all cut out and pieced, just waiting on my work table to be sewn. Of course it didn’t take much convincing on my part to go ahead and finish her up. It seems a shame to let those pieces go to waste, after all. And I need a Mimsie the Mummy for myself, don’t I? You bet I do!

AudOnes MimsieMummy2
And as these things go…. one thing led to another, and suddenly Mimsie has had a total transformation. Both mine, and perhaps one for you? She’s up for grabs in my shop, and if you like her hurry over, because she’s the last of her kind!
Have a wonderful day!

AudOnes Prims- Miss Meow

Happy Wednesday, Friends! Today I have a new AudOnes Prims cutie to share with you.  One last Halloween dolly for all you Halloween lovers, like me. As much as I adore this season, it’s time for this little elf to get busy behind the scenes. I have many sweets and dollies to craft up to fill my new Holiday Shop opening in just a few short weeks. I can’t wait to share with you what’s in store. But for now, I hope you enjoy one last Halloween treat.

AudOnes MissMeow
Halloween needs a black cat, right? This is Miss Meow, and you had better keep your eye on her…. because Miss Meow likes tricks. Or at least, that’s what her corsage tag says, anyway.

AudOnes MissMeow3
For now this one-of-a-kind art doll is hanging out with me. But you can find her, along with more details, in my shop.

AudOnes MissMeow2
Thanks for stopping by everyone! I’ll be back with more Halloween Haunted House Tour next time. Hope you have a wonderful day!

AudOnes Fall Shop- Mimsie the Mummy & Ailbeart the Brave

Hello, hello Friends and happy Friday! Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, crafting up new AudOnes prims for my fall shop. And I am so excited, as today I get to share two new creations with you!

AudOnes MimsieMummy2
This is Mimsie the Mummy. Isn’t she adorable?

AudOnes MimsieMummy3
Mimsie is very raggedy and timeworn, but let’s face it… this gal is quite old, right? She has been lovingly pieced from many many torn strips of tea-stained fabric, and her arms criss-cross to hold a branch of vintage millinery flowers. She has a hand-stitched mouth made of floss and felt, a breezy cheesecloth scarf, and a crazy tower of miss-matched vintage buttons for the eyes.

AudOnes MimsieMummy
Next up is another of my silly monster dolls, Ailbeart the Brave.

AudOnes AilbearttheBrave2
Ailbeart the brave is a one-of-a-kind monster zombie doll, decked out in true Highland dress. He is wearing traditional Scottish tartans in all their shabby glory, made from a variety of recycled and vintage fabrics and buttons. He has curly reddish hair, natural to all his kin, and hand-stitched facial features. I even found an old rusty metal bit for his nose.

AudOnes AilbearttheBrave

Both Mimsie and Ailbeart are available now in my shop, but only in very limited quantities. So if you see anything you like, please do hurry. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I owe you all such a huge thanks for your overwhelming encouragement and support! I couldn’t do it without all of YOU! Happy weekend my friend!
