Tim Holtz Facebook Live Thinlits Die Release- Distinguished

Happy Monday, crafty friends! Did you all happen to catch the surprise announcement on Tim’s Facebook Live yesterday afternoon? Sizzix has just released coordinating Thinlits die sets for two very popular Tim Holtz stamp sets, Distinguished and Snarky Cats. These new die sets are available now, but do note that they are a limited edition release. So if you’re like me, and love to have dies to match your favorite stamps, you might want to grab these up before they are sold out and gone forever.

Today I am excited to share a card that I made for the FB Live using the Distinguished stamp set and new coordinating Distinguished Thinlits dies. I absolutely love all the different ways the designers have used these stamps. At first glance, it may seem like this set would only be good for masculine designs, but I have seen it used for so much more, like steampunk or even feminine styles. Since the holiday season is upon us, I created a Christmas card for the reveal, mixing the Distinguished images with the Alphanumeric Shadow Upper dies from the last release.

First of all, can we just talk about the amazing detail on these Thinlits dies? I mean, look at how closely the dies cut to the stamps, leaving no halo of white paper around the edges. And even the smallest areas, like the inside of the umbrella handle and the inside of the shirt collars, are cut cleanly. How awesome is that?

For my card, I layered some Dapper 12×12 patterned paper onto sanded Kraft Stock Blackout cardstock to begin. Followed by a layer of watercolor paper that was inked in shades of green Distress ink and stamped repeatedly with both the text and hanger images from the set. I stamped the background in Distress ink as well, and misted the paper liberally with water afterwards to blend, meld, and smooth the inks and images and colors together.

I die cut the NOEL letters from Blackout and Kraft Stock cardstock, and then used foam dots to pop them onto the card. The Distinguished images were tucked behind, above, and around the lettering. I added some die cut holly greenery to dress up the umbrella and hat. And did you know that Sizzix makes sets of sequins and beads? Who knew, right? I believe Tim calls those “shakedy bits”! I used the Sizzix Festive Sequins set to add a final accent to the design.

As I mentioned at the top of the post, these new Sizzix Thinlits die sets that coordinate with both the Distinguished and Snarky Cats stamp set are a limited edition release. So once they are sold out, they are gone forever. If you’d like to get your hands on these sets, you can find them at Sizzix, Stamper’s Anonymous, Scrapbook.com, and Simon Says Stamp…. and I’ll link you to them below.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
