Creativation 2020 with Photo Play Paper’s Tulla & Norbert

Hello gnomies, happy Sunday to you! It’s Creativation weekend! Such an exciting time for paper crafters with all the new products heading our way. I had the great pleasure of getting my hands on some of the new Photo Play Paper releases to create card samples for the show, and I can’t wait to share these new collections that are as cute as can be. First up today is Tulla & Norbert.

Gnomes have been super trendy these past few months, and that is continuing into the new year with this sweet spring-inspired collection. Love the colors in this one! Piled on lots of patterned papers for this card, adding in crisp white cardstock to help define all those layers. The rainbow background is one of the Cut-Apart cards, trimmed down to size. Then sticker and die cut ephemera details to finish the design.

Have you all been following along with the Creativation excitement? Any new immediate must-have favorites for you?

A Million Thanks with Ranger Ink

Hi friends, happy November! Hope all you little spooks out there had a wonderful Halloween! I’ve been putting up Christmas decorations at work all week, so I’ve been having a hard time remembering what time of year it really is. I’m convinced it’s Christmas until I come home and see all the pumpkins laying around!

Today I have a fall-inspired thank you card to share that I made with lots of pretty Wendy Vecchi Make Art goodies from Ranger Ink. This sweet floral image would work beautifully for cards all year round, but today I’m definitely channeling my love for fall with this warm golden color palette.

This pretty set is called A Million Thanks, and I love that it comes with the clear stamps, matching dies, and a coordinating stencil, which I used on the background of the tag. The stamping was done in a rather unusual and new-to-me combo of Wendy Vecchi Fern Green Archival ink with Copic coloring. I know Archival ink isn’t necessarily Copic friendly, and may cause some bleeding… but I had good success with it, and I really like how different it turned out. Once I was done with the coloring, I went in with a white gel pen to add extra detailing.

The patterned papers are an old collection from Jillibean Soup called Farmhouse Stew. The tag is from the Tim Holtz Stacked Postage die set. I added a bit of Wendy Vecchi Make Art washi tape and finished it all off with a twine-wrapped bow.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Life Moments with Ranger Ink

Hello, crafty friends, and happy Wednesday to you all! Hope your week is going well and that your fall (or spring, depending upon where you are) is off to a great start. I’m always super excited at this time of year, because of course autumn is my favorite season. I love it when the air turns cooler and the leaves start to change color, and pumpkins and apples start popping up everywhere. So I’m extra happy to be sharing a new fall project with you all today that I made for the Ranger Ink blog.

This card is a fun mix of some newer products, like Ranger Distress Archival Inks and the awesome Crackle texture folder from Tim Holtz and Sizzix, combined with lots of pretty Distress Ink colors and favorite stamps. I went with a warm autumnal color palette of golden yellows and rich deep orange and rust on this fall-inspired design, and used my Distress inks to do some easy watercolor washes and splatters. Quick techniques that give a unique appearance every time.

The texture on that 3D Crackle embossing folder is just amazing. The embossing looks great on either side, too. I pulled out my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to adhere the layers of background papers, and sandwiched a nest of loose threads in between. A simple stamped sentiment finishes the design.

I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial up on the Ranger Ink Projects Page, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you an awesome weekend ahead!

A Monster Good Time with Sizzix & Tim Holtz

It’s October, so of course that means it’s time for Halloween fun! Today I’ve got some monster spooks to share, made with new Sizzix dies and texture fades from Tim Holtz’s Falloween release.

AudreyPettit Sizzix FriendGoodCard
You know how sometimes things just come together for you like they were meant to be? I have had this Frankenstein sentiment stamp in my stash for the longest time. I absolutely love it, but have never found a use for it in the past. So you can imagine how excited I was when Tim Holtz released this fabulous new Monster Thinlits die set. I mean, talk about a perfect match!

AudreyPettit Sizzix FriendGoodCard2
I really love all the detail to this die set, and how amazing that it’s even dimensional and 3D. So fun to put together. Kinda like building a jigsaw puzzle.

AudreyPettit Sizzix FriendGoodCard3

The new Batground embossing folder adds such a cool texture to the background. And I even had a matching sentiment stamp for the inside of the card.

I’ve got a full tutorial for this card up on the Sizzix blog, if you’d like to learn more. And the supplies I’ve used are listed and linked below.

Pumpkins & Hayrides with Simple Stories

AudreyPettit PumpkinSpice FallCard
Hello my friends, and happy Friday! Today I have a fall card to share, made with Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice collection.

AudreyPettit PumpkinSpice FallCard2
Once again using one of the awesome chipboard frames to create a fun little scene using lots of die cuts from the Bits & Pieces embellishment pack.

AudreyPettit PumpkinSpice FallCard3
Love that one of the 3×4 SN@P Cards made an instant hilly backdrop for my pumpkin patch. So easy, and so simple and sweet! And I was so excited to see that this card was featured on the Scrapbook.com blog.

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Hello Fall with Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice

Hello Friends, happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Today I have a fall card to share with you featuring Simple Stories’ adorable new autumn-inspired collection, Pumpkin Spice.

AudreyPettit PumpkinSpice HelloFallCard
I absolutely love the warm colors and prints in the Pumpkin Spice collection. Although this is a fall themed line, I think it could be used for so much more. There’s earthy tones for spring and summer, and traditional colors perfect for the holidays…. but add in a touch of orange and russet and you know fall is here.

AudreyPettit PumpkinSpice HelloFallCard2
I always love working with the chipboard pieces on card designs, as they provide a great framework for my focal point. In this case, a cute fall garden scene made up of die cuts from the Bits & Pieces ephemera pack.

AudreyPettit PumpkinSpice HelloFallCard3

I added a die cut cloud image above the frame to extend the view, and popped some of the images up with foam adhesive for a bit of extra dimension. A scalloped cardstock border sticker and twine tie finish things off.

I’ve got a second fall-inspired Pumpkin Spice card up on the Simple Stories blog, if you’d like to see more. And I’ll link you to all of the supplies below.

Best Day Ever with Simple Stories

Hello Friends! Happy, happy Friday! I’ve got some Simple Stories for you today. A quick and easy card made with the Lovely SN@P! Pack.
AudreyPettit-Lovely-BestDayEverCard
Simple Stories’ SN@P! Packs are seriously a ton of fun. Each kit collection contains well over a hundred pieces of pre-cut journaling cards and die cut ephemera Absolutely perfect for pocket scrapbooking, of course, but also great for so much more.

AudreyPettit-Lovely-BestDayEverCard2
Included in the Lovely SN@P! Pack are these adorable little 2″x2″ journaling cards you see here. So fabulous for creating quick and easy blocked designs, and small enough to work perfectly on cards.

AudreyPettit-Lovely-BestDayEverCard3
One of the best things about SN@P! cards are the pre-printed images and titles that are great for journaling, but also make fabulous instant card sentiments, too. Love that these cards are all double-sided, for even more creative possibilities. I added a few Lovely die cuts, a bit of twine, and enamel dots, and this super easy, but super cute, card is complete.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Let Freedom Ring with Authentique

Happy Fourth of July, my friends! By now, I’m sure celebrations are well underway for this special long holiday weekend, and I hope you have lots of fun plans in the works. It’s overcast and raining here in my neck of the woods, so no barbeques today, but I do have a couple of fun patriotic projects to share with you, made with Authentique’s adorable Freedom collection.

AudreyPettit-Freedom-LandofFreeCard
Lots of fun patriotic papers from the 6×6 paper bundle, and an awesome sentiment thanks to the Enhancements Cut Apart paper journaling card. I do love those sheets for quick and easy card designs.

AudreyPettit-Freedom-LandofFreeCard2
My Little Missy calls this my “tye-dye” card with that Distress watercolor background. Such an easy technique, and fun, too. I added sanded Distress cardstock, and machine stitching in bright red. A mix of trims and a good ol’ USA sticker to finish off.

AudreyPettit-Freedom-LandofFreeCard3
I also have a home decor project to share, ’cause you all know I can’t let a holiday pass without decking out my house in holiday spirit.

AudreyPettit-Freedom-ILoveUSAHanging
A patriotic wall hanging, made with pretty Freedom papers and stickers and my favorite wall hanging resource, recycled corrugated cardboard.

AudreyPettit-Freedom-ILoveUSAHanging2
Another great Enhancements journaling card, dressed up with red candy dots and a sweet vintage button, layered with lots of pretty papers and a bit of soft cotton batting. More stitching. Lots of shabby paint. And a torn strip of happy checkered fabric for the hanger.

Happy Independence Day, my friends! Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Stars & Stripes with Simple Stories

I’ve got a couple of patriotic projects to share with you today, just in time for the Fourth of July, made with Simple Stories’ new 12×12 Collection Kit, Stars & Stripes.

AudreyPettit-Stars&Stripes-USASet
Stars & Stripes is such a great collection. Of course it’s perfect for all your summer papercrafting needs, but I have to say that I am crazy for the ol’ red, white, and blue any time of the year. I think my favorite thing from this collection has got to be that adorable surf wagon, and I couldn’t resist using it in both projects today. It’s got that laid-back California surfer vibe I remember from my early days.

AudreyPettit-Stars&Stripes-USAFrame
First up, a quick and easy home decor frame, made with one of the larger 4×6 journaling cards. I had just enough room for a couple of layers of papers underneath, and because I removed the glass, I could build up layers on top, too.

AudreyPettit-Stars&Stripes-USASet2
I simply added a twine tie, and a few Stars & Stripes stickers. Thought the scalloped border made an awesome “road” for my wagon to cruise on. Super simple, and fun.

AudreyPettit-Stars&Stripes-IndependenceDayCard

And because I love that little car so much, I made a matching card using the smaller cardstock sticker.

AudreyPettit-Stars&Stripes-IndependenceDayCard2
A smaller 3×4 journaling card this time and Stars & Stripes stickers.  I popped some of them up with foam dots for a bit of depth in my little scene. I’ve got the details, along with the complete supply list, up on the Simple Stories blog, if you’d like to learn more

Thanks so much for stopping by! Just a few more days until the 4th! Have any fun plans in the works?

Smiles Across the Miles with Simple Stories

Today is the day, my friends. The last day of school, and the last time… the very last time I will ever pack a lunchbox and send a wee one off to the bus stop in the morning. It’s a day for celebration, of course, but I will admit that this old momma is pretty emotional. That fifteen years could fly by in the blink of an eye, and leave me now standing on the other side looking back, is a bit of a shock, a whirlwind of memories and moments, a mix of happiness and sadness…. all jumbled up together.

AudreyPettit-IAm-SendingSmilesCard
But for my wee Missy Nik, today is simply a day for rejoicing. A happy day. So today I thought I would share a bright and happy card with you that I made recently for the Simple Stories blog, featuring the adorable I Am collection and lots and lots of sweet polka dots.

AudreyPettit-IAm-SendingSmilesCard2

To me, there is nothing quite as happy and fun as a bunch of polka dots, and I have combined a ton of them here. There’s dots on the background paper, and dots from a mix of SN@P journaling cards, and even dots on the washi tape, too. Does make me smile. I think it livens things up, don’t you?

AudreyPettit-IAm-SendingSmilesCard3
Thank you so much for stopping by! This card goes out to all of you. I’m sending smiles across the miles to all of YOU, my friends. Wishing you all a wonderful day!
