Today I’m reaching waaaaay back into my archives to share a layout featuring BasicGrey’s adorable Persimmon collection and one of my all-time most fave photos ever. This is my little cutie circa 2005.
I still remember this day so clearly. I had just gotten a new camera for my birthday, and I couldn’t wait to play with it. I dragged that thing around with me everywhere. This photo was actually taken in front of the grocery store, amongst the pumpkins and mums stuck on a pallet out front. I made the Missy Nik crawl and crouch to get into position. I know she was uncomfortable, but boy, what a trooper she was. I just love how the photo turned out.
Looks like we could be someplace really fancy, doesn’t it? Like a farmer’s market or garden somewhere. Certainly not a tacky grocery store display. Just makes me smile all the more.
I’ve scrapped this photo before, but I couldn’t wait to scrap it again using the gorgeous Persimmon collection. I love how this line perfectly captures the fall feeling of my photo without being overly themed. The flowers and leaves die cuts, stickers, and transparencies work well with the mums in the background, and the colors really make my photo shine.
Lots of layers of pretty papers, and to highlight the clusters of flower, some cardstock sticker circles from Carte Postale. The die cut light blue circles were made with Zig Zag Circles Thinlit dies from Sizzix. And of course a few candy buttons.
Hey there, Cuteness!
I couldn’t agree more. Autumn truly is the perfect time of year.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you all a very wonderful day.
Die Cuts and Transparencies

I will be up at 2:30 CST today with this little cutie pie card I made with the adorable Persimmon collection, along with a little giveaway.
Of course you KNOW I would choose a Halloween card, right? 😉
Hope whatever you do today, you all have a wonderful day!
Every once in awhile, I get a hold of a product that I love so much, I’m almost afraid to use it. That’s how I felt about the new wood veneer cards from BasicGrey’s beautiful Persimmon collection. Lordie, have you seen those things? Too fabulous! But I did it, my friends…
Pulled out my favorite piece from the set to share a fun fall-inspired card with you today. See what I mean? That lovely Autumn wood veneer is almost too pretty to use. But talk about an instant WOW on a card with very little work.
Had a little fun with the garland strips, too, which I folded in half and placed diagonally across the card. Looks fancy, but is so easy since the garlands come already sewn into 12″ strips. Love it when all the work has already been done for you.
The background has been pieced from a variety of the 6×6 papers. I added a bit of hemp and buttons, and a little kraft doily cut into two and tucked behind the veneer for detail. A pair of leaves and a sentiment strip from the Die Cut Cardstock & Transparencies pack finish things off.
Just a sweet little autumn card to celebrate my most favorite season of all. So glad I broke into my wood die cuts to play. But most of all, I’m glad I still have a few left I can hoard for later! 😉
