Good ‘Ol Fashioned Summer with Therm O Web

Seems I am still keeping quite the wacky posting schedule these days, but at least there looks to be a light at the end of the tunnel. After working a full-time schedule this spring, I am finally back to part-time…. and that means more time for play in the good ‘ol craft room! I sure have been missing my paper. Now I just need to carve out a date with my piles of fabric..

I love me some Americana for the summer months, and with the 4th of July quickly approaching, I’ve been having fun playing with Photo Play Paper’s adorable Red, White, & Blue collection. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing lots of patriotic projects with you, starting today with a petite 3.5×5 card I made for the Therm O Web blog featuring Fancy Foil fun from GinaK Designs.

I love a bit of sparkling foil for the Fourth. Perfect accent for fireworks and parades. This technique is super easy to do with just the use of a simple foiling pen, and better yet, doesn’t require the use of a heat laminator. You can check out the Therm O Web blog for details on that, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Let’s BBQ with Photo Play Paper

Hi friends, happy Father’s Day! Hope you have plans for the day to celebrate all those special men in your lives. Today is a great day for a BBQ, isn’t it? Perfect time to share this last masculine guy card I made this week for Photo Play Paper featuring their fabulous Man Card collection.

It’s not often I get to spend Father’s Day in person with my dad, so I am feeling particularly blessed this year. We actually had our big celebration yesterday, so that the whole family could get together. And yes, I did barbecue for my dad….. ribs and corn on the cob, topped off with a homemade apple pie. Such a happy day.

I thought this BBQ card would go along perfectly with our menu for the day. Lots of fun plaids and die cuts, layered with journaling cards and crisp black cardstock. I added a pair of crisscrossed stickers tied with twine to the front of the card, and finished off with another pair for the inside.

If you’re on Photo Play’s mailing list, you will have received the instructions for my cards in your inbox this week. If you missed it, you can CLICK HERE for the instructions and HERE for the free cut files.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Stud Muffin with Photo Play Paper

Happy Friday, friends! I’m back today with another masculine guy card to share. This time, a shaped card I made for Photo Play Paper using their awesome Man Card collection. And if you’re on their mailing list, you would have received the free cutting file and downloadable instructions for this project in your inbox this week.

I don’t often make shaped cards, so this was a lot of fun for me, and I think the sailboat shape is perfect for Father’s Day this weekend. I used a mix of three patterned papers to create the hull and sails, and then fashioned some rigging using flag stickers popped up with foam tape. Added a simple twine loop to finish the line. The wave at the bottom of the boat is the negative of the scalloped border I die cut from the solid navy blue section of one of the cut-apart journaling cards.

This sailboat pattern is available as a free cutting file, which you can download here. And you can find the step-by-step directions for this project here, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend with all those special stud muffins out there!

So Handsome with Therm O Web

I recently got my hands on the adorable Man Card collection from Photo Play Paper, and thought it would be perfect for making some guy cards for Father’s Day this year. I mixed in Fancy Foil accents from GinaK Designs in a distressed and chippy style that works well for masculine designs, and put together a trio of cards for the Therm O Web blog this week. And today I wanted to share the first of them here with you.

The images and sentiments in this line really do make me smile, and I love the vintage look and muted colors, too. Such a perfect match for this Wild Dandelion gold foil. I used the foil adhesive pen to add a frame of glue around the edge of my cardstock mat, and then simply pressed the foil onto the adhesive when dry. This is a great way to add foiled accents to basically any project, without the need of a heat laminator.

I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial, along with another pair of masculine cards, up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Wishing you all a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!

B is for Boy with Photo Play Paper

I’m reaching back into my project archives for my card share today! The weather has turned warm here, and it feels like spring has finally arrived. Perfect time for soft pastels and sweet baby animals, like this little cutie from Photo Play Paper’s adorable About a Little Boy collection.

Just a happy combo of polka dots and plaid. And I am always a sucker for the cute little critters, too. This guy is heading off on a balloon ride to make a very special delivery. He’s got a puffy cloudy sky to soften his journey, made with a bit of masking and Distress ink. The scene is framed with some of my favorite stitched rectangle dies, and tied up with string.

Happy Friday, friends! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! My wee Missy Nik is finishing up her first year at university tomorrow, and is coming home for the summer. Let the summer vacation begin!

Just My Type with Photoplay Paper

Hello, hello friends, thanks for stopping by! It’s a happy day here at my house… a BIG day! My little missy Nik turns 20 years old today! Time for some happy celebrations! And a perfect time to share this card I made for Creativation (CHA) with Photoplay Paper’s adorable Mad4Plaid Happy collection.

I just can’t help but smile over this bright and fun line, and those silly plaid pups get me every time. This sweet guy is perched at his typewriter, writing a little love note. I added stickers to one of the 3×4 journaling cards to create my scene, and pieced a snippet of another at the bottom of it to create a tag design for the front of the card, and go along with my writer’s theme.

A pair of plaid prints were layered with one of the larger 4×6 journaling cards for the background. I popped up some elements with foam tape for dimension, and finished off the tag with a bit of twine.

Hope this lovely Friday finds you all very Happy! And hope you have a wonderful weekend, too! We are actually predicted to get a wee bit of snow again on Saturday. Crazy!

Paper Crane Thoughts of You with Photoplay Paper

Happy Monday, friends! Thanks so much for stopping by! Today I have another card that I made for the Creativations show in January to share, featuring Photoplay Paper’s adorable Paper Crane collection.

I love the Paper Crane geisha girls. This one is from the layered 3D stickers. I die cut a square frame and made a little scene for her with a mix of lantern stickers, enamel dots, and small twine bows. The background is a soft ink-blended sky, masked with a cloud punch and a bit of Distress ink.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! We actually had snow here Saturday night. That makes twice in the past week, and that is crazy unheard of this late in the year. Looks like March came in like a lion, and plans on going out like one, too! 😀
