Like Stars with Therm O Web

Hi sweet friends! Happy Thursday!

I am definitely keeping quite the varied blog schedule these days, but I hope you’ll bear with me while I’m still on vacation mode! We’re down to our last week here in sunny California, and I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by. Seems like there’s something going on every minute….but I wouldn’t have it any other way! My heart is definitely recharging spending time with my family in my childhood home, and visiting with friends near and dear.

Although I’ve spent the past twenty-three years in North Carolina, this little spot out here in Northern California will always feel like home to me. And I feel so incredibly blessed that when I return here, I get the chance to reconnect with friends from lots of different periods in my life, from my early schooldays through college, and then later working days, and even newer friends I’ve met through this wonderful hobby of papercrafting, too. This past weekend, I spent a day with my super sweet and talented friend, Wanda, from A Blog Called Wanda, and we had the best time chatting and laughing and shopping the day away. There’s just nothing like girlfriend time to recharge the old batteries! So it seemed rather fitting to share this friendship card today, with a sentiment that most definitely rings true.

This card features the fun new Fancy Foils and Foil-Mate products from the GinaK Designs line from Therm O Web along with papers from Photo Play Paper’s adorable Summer Bucket List collection. I am loving those shiny bright foiled polka dots in the background, and the two-toned foil look on the sentiment. I’ve got a full tutorial up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll leave you with a photo that I borrowed from my friend, Wanda, of the two of us!

Wishing you all a very wonderful day! XOXO

Adventure Awaits with Photo Play Paper

Hi sweet friends! Happy Tuesday! Hope your weeks are off to a great start!

The family and I have just returned from a quick trip into the beautiful Cascade mountain range of Northern California! We have spent probably a good 17 hours in the car over the past two days, and I am feeling every hour of them in these old bones of mine…. But what an amazing adventure! The perfect adventure, in fact, for a little travel journal, like this one I’m sharing for Photo Play Paper today.

This little notebook is the perfect small size for an adventure on the go, as you can easily slip this right into your back pocket without worrying about carrying anything extra with you. And I love that it came with its own attached pen. I dressed up the pen and notebook cover with fun papers and stickers from Photo Play Paper’s Boarding Pass collection. And if you’re on their mailing list, you will have received all the details and how-tos for this project, along with free cutting files, too, in your email last week.

My friends at Photo Play are offering a free Boarding Pass collection kit on their Facebook page, so be sure to stop by!  Comments are open until the 28th.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Before I go, I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite moments from our trip!

Scrapbook & Cards Today- Take 2

Hi Friends! Happy Friday!

Last week I had the great pleasure of guesting over on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog, sharing a pair of outdoorsy camp cards featuring Photo Play Paper’s new summer collections. I shared the first card in my last post, and today I am excited to share number two.

Once again, I combined papers from both the Campfire and the Lakeside collections for my background, and then made a fun paper-pieced scene for that adorable bear. Seriously cannot resist me a cute little critter.

I pulled in more of the stamp images this time to add a swag element to the top of the frame, and for the sentiment, too. Colored the images with Zig markers, and die cut them with the matching set of dies.

These fun Photo Play Paper lines are definitely making me ready for some summer adventures. We’re hoping to head north to the mountains this weekend, so perhaps a real bear, or two, will be on the agenda! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, too. And thanks so much for stopping by!

Scrapbook & Cards Today Card Corner

Hi Friends! Waving a giant hello to you all from the sunny state of California!

This past week I had the great pleasure of sharing a guest post over on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog, and today I am happy to share one of my card projects here with you, too. Since it’s now June, and I am in vacation mode, it seemed the perfect time to play with Photo Play Paper’s new outdoorsy summer collections, Lakeside and Campfire.

I absolutely adore these new nature-inspired collections, and love how beautifully they work together. I am a sucker for cute little critters, so couldn’t resist using this adorable bear stamp for both of the cards I made, and mixing a bit of paper from both collections to complete my scenes.

I stamped the bear onto watercolor paper and colored the image with Zig Clean Color markers before die cutting with the coordinating die shape. Love how the bear is just peeking in from the corner of the frame.

I’ve got more details and a complete supply list, as well as a second camp card to share, up on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog, if you’d like to see more. And be sure to enter the prize giveaway HERE for a chance to win these awesome Photo Play Paper stamps, dies, and collection kits.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

May Flowers with Photo Play Paper

Hi sweet friends, happy Monday!
And a very happy Memorial Day to those in the States!

With just a few days left in May, it hit me that I had better hurry up and share this altered frame project that I made for Photo Play Paper. This is a mix of their adorable Bloom and Hoppy Easter collections, dressing up an old 5×7 desk frame for the spring season.

This pretty Bloom journaling card is my favorite from the collection, so wanted to use it for the focal point in this home decor. I matted the card on crisp white cardstock, and added a bit of machine stitched detailing around the edge to help it pop, before layering it onto a polka dotty background. I like to remove the glass from my frames so that I can build up the layers without worrying about space. Love the 3D effect you get with just a little bit of foam adhesive. Creates a bit of a shadowbox look, don’t you think?

The frame was originally plain brown wood, which didn’t really fit the design. So I added a quick whitewash of paint, and then adhered thin strips of patterned paper to the thicker edges. White pearl buttons jazz up the corners. All finished off with a simple twine bow.

 P.S.-
I’m kicking off summer here in my shop on Wednesday, May 31st with a nautical-themed mini release. This release is small, but packed with bright summer vibes and the cutest little sea creatures ever! My shop will be open just one week, before it closes for summer vacation, so if you’re interested, be sure to shop early!

Life is Lovely with Photo Play Paper

Hi Friends! Happy Fri-yay!
Cheers to the weekend, and a long holiday weekend at that!

Today I have a card to share that I made for Photo Play Paper using their adorable bohemian collection, Rhapsody.

Lots of layers of patterned papers in a blocked grid design with a focus on journaling cards from the cut-apart card sheet. I love the retro look of that guitar. The sentiment and arrow strip are also from the journaling card sheet, die cut and trimmed out to fit.

I stacked foam adhesive between the layers for a bit of depth, and finished with a simple twine bow. A bit of ink on the edges for a shabby touch, too.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Any fun plans for the holiday weekend?

My Creative Time 67th Edition Release Week- Stitched Petals

Hi everyone! It’s sneak peek week over at My Creative Time for their 67th Edition Release, and I am so excited to be joining in on the fun with a special guest designer project. Today is day three of peeks, and Emma is showcasing two new sets, this month’s freebie die and a new set of basic shapes that you are going to love.

This shabby vintage-inspired card features the new Scalloped Stitched Square dies…. so useful for creating stacked layers like you see here…. and this month’s adorable freebie die, called Stitched Petals.

I used four of the new scalloped dies to create my focal panel here, and love the layered look that this gives. But what I love about them the most is that there are many more nesting dies that come with this set, from larger card base sizes down to the smallest shapes that I used here. I die cut the freebie Stitched Petals die onto the smallest stitched square shape, and pulled up on the petals for a bit of dimension. Embellished the center of the flower with a button and sticker for a little extra detail. The papers and stickers are from Photo Play Paper’s French Flea Market collection.

***Sneak Peek giveaway!***
