An Old Fashioned Christmas with Photo Play Paper

Hello, hello friends, and happy Wednesday! I’m taking advantage of a relatively quiet morning here at my house to share with you all another holiday card that I made at my scrapbooking retreat back in October. Emphasis this year is trying to use up leftovers from a pair of favorite older holiday collections. This card was made with the adorable Dear Santa kit from Photo Play Paper.

This time, I pulled some of the brown woodgrain print from the papers to pair with another favorite of mine, kraft. I do so love the look of red, white, and natural kraft for the holidays.

To add some interest to the background I used a Hero Arts stencil and white ink with a blending tool. Popped up the sentiment banner and bells for a bit of extra dimension, too.

I felt pretty good about getting my holiday cards done in October, but I’m chagrined to say that I haven’t gotten any of them in the mail yet! Oy…. I need to get a move on! Hope holiday prep is going a bit smoother at your house!

P.S.- Don’t forget to check out my new Holiday Mini Release in my AudOnes Prims Shop!

A Mad4Plaid December with Photo Play Paper & A Shop Update!

Hi Friends, happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a great start! I’ve got two little furballs here with me again today, which is definitely keeping me on my toes. But I’m hoping to sneak in here really quickly to share a fun holiday project with all of you, and a bit of news on my AudOnes Prims shop, too!

A little while back, my friends at Photo Play Paper joined up with the gang at Maya Road to share some holiday inspiration featuring Maya Road’s adorable embellishments along with PPP’s super fun Mad4Plaid Christmas collection. I made several cards for the match-up, along with this little guy here… a frosty snowman scene vignette box.

I coated both the insides and outsides of the box with a variety of patterned papers, and added a popped-up die cut tag to the inside to do double-duty as both the focal point and sentiment. Maya Road bottle brush trees bring a touch of the woodlands to the scene. Love the icy look a bit of white paint and chunky glitter bring to the party, too.

SHOP UPDATE!
(Edited: all items are now listed! Hope you enjoy!)

I know some of you have been asking, and I’m so excited to say that, puppies permitting, I am planning on adding a few new items to my AudOnes Prims Holiday Shop today… including this sweet vignette box here and a few new frosty friends!

Wish me luck! And stay tuned!

A Dear Santa Christmas

Hi sweet friends, happy Friday! I had every intention of getting back to a more regular blogging schedule for the holidays…. but already I’ve hit a set back. All attempts at productivity have been thrown out the window here at my house with the arrival of a brand new little buddy. A little 9 week-old golden retriever boy, bookend to the kids’ 1 1/2 year-old golden retriever girl. And of course Grandma here has already been pet-sitting…. and getting nothing else done. 😉

But just look at those wee little faces!

On top of that, both kiddos have finished up school for the semester this week, and are back home for now. Nik just finished her first semester at university, and my boy, Mr. Pete…. well, he just graduated! Can you all believe that? I know many of you still remember me crying when he first left for college, and now, fast forward four and a half years and now he is the proud recipient of a BS in biochemistry. SO many wonderful things going on!

Sharing today another holiday card that I made at my scrapbooking retreat in October. Emphasis this year is trying to use up leftovers from a pair of favorite older holiday collections, Dear Santa from Photo Play Paper, mixed with I Love Christmas from Echo Park. Lots of pretty papers from the collections, accented with cardstock stickers and a tiny twine bow. I cut apart one of the paper strips for the sentiment, and borrowed a friend’s dies at the retreat to create the scalloped border and Santa stack.

How are the holiday preparations going at your house? Knocking things off that to-do list?

Naughty or Nice with Therm O Web

Hello Sweet Friends, and happy Wednesday to you! With Thanksgiving now tucked snugly under our belt, I’m sure I join many of you in saying that holiday preparations are in full swing here at our house. The Christmas tree has come out, and tubs of ornaments and decorations are spread everywhere. I am definitely in that chaotic in-between stage, where things are more mess than decor. But soon the entire family will be home, and my spirits are filling with good cheer.

While I was off at my scrapbooking retreat last month, I made a good dent in my holiday card making for the year. And once again I tasked myself with one of my favorite self-imposed challenges, to bring a limited amount of supplies and use up some stash of older holiday lines. I shared three mix-and-match stash cards recently on the Therm O Web blog, and thought I would share one of them here with you all today, too. This little holiday elf card is made with two much-loved older paper collections, Echo Park Paper’s I Love Christmas and Photo Play Paper’s Dear Santa.

The background is a mix of both lines, and the cute elf journaling card and detail stickers are Echo Park. I used one of GinaK Designs circle dies to create a round porthole window for the elf to peek through. Great way to call attention to the focal design.

I’ve got another pair of mix-it-up holiday cards up on the Therm O Web blog, if you’d like to see more. And although these paper lines are older, they are both still available, and I will link you to them below.

I hope my friends and family in the States had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Creepy Halloween with Photo Play Paper

Hi friends, happy Monday! And happy almost-Halloween! The big day will soon be here, and before long it will be time to pack away the spooks for one more year. But before then, I have one last Halloween haunt to share with you. A creepy card, made once again with Photo Play Paper’s adorable Halloween collection, Matilda & Godfrey.

One of my favorite things about this line is all the extras that come with the set, including the fabulous haunted house die cut ephemera piece I used here. I layered my scene with cardstock stickers and a fun mix of patterned papers.  The sentiment comes from the matching clear stamp set.

Thanks so much for spending another Halloween with me here on the blog! My favorite time of year! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday tomorrow. And thanks so much for stopping by!

Trick or Treat with Photo Play Paper

Hi Friends! Happy Wednesday!
Are you ready for more spooks?

Only a week to go until Halloween, and there’s still many tricks and treats to share. So today I’m back again with another Halloween card. This time, a little toxic scene made with the adorable Matilda & Godfrey collection from Photo Play Paper.

Of course you all know by now that I am a complete sucker for all things Halloween, so it will come as no surprise that I adore this collection. Love the colors and prints, and best thing is… this line has lots of add-ons like ephemera die cuts, clear stamps, and dies, too. I created my own patterned background here using one of the stamps from the set, and added some die cut bats for extra detail. The apothecary bottles were fussy cut from the patterned paper.

The sentiment banner is from the die cut ephemera pack, layered with cardstock strips and a toxic drip border die from Tim Holtz. That adorable black cat is from the cardstock sticker sheet.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back Friday with the wrap-up to my Halloween House Tour. Until then, wishing you all a wonderful day!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Photo Play Paper

Hi Friends, and happy Tuesday! I’m a day behind in my regular posting schedule this week, and overdue on my blog visits, too. This past weekend was my annual fall scrapbooking retreat with my Crafty Gals, and I have just returned from a very lovely four-day adventure at the beach. It was a small group of seven of us this time, but we had such a wonderful time.  The weather was absolutely perfect, and the food was fabulous, and I haven’t laughed that hard in a good long while. I know I’ve said it before… but there’s nothing like girlfriend time to replenish the soul.

Today I have a couple of cards to share that I created for Photo Play Paper for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Both cards feature freebie downloadable printables and cutting files Photo Play created in honor of the occasion, and if you are on their mailing list, you will have received the files and instructions for these cards in your email earlier this month.

This first card is a 5″ square design, layered with crisp black cardstock and patterned papers from Photo Play’s French Flea Market 6×6 Paper Pad. I used my scalloped border punch and a Tim Holtz Stitched Rectangle die. The pink ribbon is one of the cutting files from this month’s freebies.

I added a button and twine to finish the card. The sentiment strip is from the freebie printables sheet.

The second card uses more paper from the French Flea Market pad, as well as some from the Seeds of Kindness 6×6 pad. And the sentiment and journaling card are part of the downloadable freebies.

I added a pink button to the center of the brassiere and photo corners to ground the framework. Lots of bold black and white to make the images pop.

I hope to catch up with all of you soon! And hello from the Crafty Gals…
