Just You, Me, & the Sea with BasicGrey

Hello, hello! Happy Wednesday, my friends! Today I am up on the BasicGrey blog with a beachy home decor project. A little paper pillow tuck made with BasicGrey’s adorable new nautical collection, Adrift.

AudreyPettit BG Adrift SeaPillowTuck

The nautical look has been really popular recently in the papercrafting world, and that makes this ol’ gal happy, happy, I must say.ย  If you like beachy, you’re going to love Adrift. It is such a bright and vibrant line, great for beach and seaside layouts and cards, or for adding a touch of nautical flair to your home decor.

AudreyPettit BG Adrift SeaPillowTuck2
You may have noticed. Little paper pillow are one of my favorite home decor projects. They are super quick and easy to make, and they can fit into any small nook or cranny in your home decor. I like to tuck them into a basket or bowl, or even use them like a pillow on couch or chair. Right now, it’s making me happy to have a little reminder of the sea after my four day trip to the beach last weekend.

Although I have to say……. my little beach star is kind of clashing with all my winter snowmen….

Just for Fun with BasicGrey

Excitement is building as things get underway in Anaheim, California for the 2015 Craft & Hobby Association Mega Show. Today the education program begins, and tomorrow, the show floor opens to hundreds of eager papercrafters. I’ve been glued to my computer already, watching the set-up unfold from the comfort of my armchair. Love the energy. So much anticipation. I do believe it’s going to be a fun weekend.

BasicGrey has already revealed two new collections in their winter line up, and today I am sharing a bright and happy card made with the new Prism collection.

AudreyPettit BG Prism JustforFunCard2
Just for fun is exactly what this new collection is, filled with vibrant spring-like colors in lots of retro geometric prints. Love that they’ve accented the line with touches of bold black, and I think what really sets it apart is the addition of my all-time fave, kraft.

AudreyPettit BG Prism JustforFunCard3
It’s a unique and different combination, and a breath of fresh air in the chill of winter. I think you all are going to love it, and the new nautical Adrift collection, too. You can check out both new lines, along with lots of inspiring ideas and projects, on the BasicGrey blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Friends! Wishing you all a very wonderful weekend!

Hello There with BasicGrey

Just a few more days until CHA peeks. ๐Ÿ™‚ But in the meantime, I’ll play a bit of catch-up with another fun BasicGrey card. This one is Kelly Purkey’s adorable Second City collection.

AudreyPettit BG SecondCity HelloCardLayers of patterned paper topped with Title stickers and wrapped in twine. Candy buttons in yummy, glittery gold.

AudreyPettit BG SecondCity HelloCard3The base of the card was die cut from a large Spellbinders label die, folded in half. The second layer is a smaller version of the nested dies, this time stitched. The wood arrow was given some highlights with a fined tipped glue and pretty lavender glitter.

Highlight of the day? American Idol starts tonight. Any fans out there?

Over the Moon with BasicGrey

Hello, hello Friends! It’s back to the old routine today after our lovely two week Christmas break. I’m going to miss the festivity and excitement of the holidays, but there’s something to be said for the quiet regularity of one’s normal schedule, too. But it sure would be nice if the regular old routine didn’t come with such an early wake-up call. Right?

AudreyPettit BG Aurora NoteofLoveCard
Although January seems a little bleak after all the activity of the holidays, I still have much to look forward to. My sweet parents and my boy are still here for another week or so, and in a few short weeks, I’ll be heading off on my annual scrapbooking retreat in Myrtle Beach with the girls. And CHA, too. That starts in just a few more days. And although I won’t be going, I always really look forward to seeing all the amazing booth displays and fabulous new products.

AudreyPettit BG Aurora NoteofLoveCard2This year, I have had the pleasure and honor of designing 25 projects for CHA, representing four wonderful companies…. Therm O Web, Authentique, my new team Simple Stories, and Tim Holtz. It has been a whirlwind, crazy, amazing time, filled with excitement, stress, gratitude, panic, and probably every other emotion you can think of. So relieved to have it all behind me now. And really looking forward to sharing my creations with you soon. But for today, I’ll share a card I made recently for the BasicGrey blog, using the new Aurora collection.

AudreyPettit BG Aurora NoteofLoveCard3Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m sure most of you are getting back into the old swing of things today, too. Anybody have happy January things to look forward to?

Let the Good Times Roll with BasicGrey

It’s New Year’s Eve, my friends. As I sit here in a bit of shock this morning that a whole year has now managed to slip away, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your many blog visits and sweet comments over the past year. When I stop and look back and count my blessings on this special day, I count all of you up at the top of my list. I am so grateful for your friendships and kindness, and for your never-ending support. So to all of us, a happy New Year! It’s time to look ahead. May 2015 bring much health, happiness, and prosperity to all.

AudreyPettit BG Aurora GoodTimesCardI’m not much of one for New Year’s resolutions, but I do try to set a few general goals for myself for the upcoming year. One goal I try to live by is to slow life down a bit and just enjoy the simple things. To make time for the good times. Life can get way too serious at times.

AudreyPettit BG Aurora GoodTimesCard3So today I am celebrating good times ahead with this fun card I made for the BasicGrey blog. This is their new Aurora collection. Let’s reach for the stars, friends. Who knows how far we will travel!

AudreyPettit BG Aurora GoodTimesCard2Happy New Year!

You & Me with BasicGrey

Hello, hello! Happy Monday, my friends! I hope that you’ve all had a chance to rest up a bit now from the hectic holiday schedule of the past several weeks, and are finding time to enjoy this wonderful season. Seems like such a welcome break to me, after all the rush and hustle.

AudreyPettit BG J'Adore You&Me
Somehow, I didn’t mange to post all of my holiday projects, but now that Christmas is over, it’s time to put all those away for the year and move on.ย  So today I thought it would be fun to share a Valentine card with you that I made for the BasicGrey blog featuring their new J’Adore collection.

AudreyPettit BG J'Adore You&Me2
J’Adore has a wide and beautiful range of colors, but for today’s card, I went with a bit of a traditional Valentine look with lots of pink mixed with pops of black and white. Die cuts and fun candy dots and heart gems, and even a bit of stamping. The background is a soft wash of watercolor.

AudreyPettit BG J'Adore You&Me3If you would like to learn more, or perhaps create this card for yourself, I’ve got a downloadable project sheet of instructions on the BasicGrey blog. And BasicGrey is offering a J’Adore prize package today on their blog, so be sure to stop by and leave a comment here.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Merry Wishes with BasicGrey

Hello, my friends, and happy Wednesday to you!

AudreyPettit BG Evergreen MerryChristmasCardSharing another Christmas card with you today made with BasicGrey‘s Evergreen collection. I love all theย  traditional red and green in Evergreen, but today I went for a slightly retro color combination of holiday red and turquoise. So bright and festive and fun.

AudreyPettit BG Evergreen MerryChristmasCard2 Little secret. I have a tendency to hoard my favorite pieces from a collection.ย  (ohreallynow)
I’ve been wanting to use the Evergreen Metal Snowflakes, but don’t want to use them, know what I mean? So instead, I made my own masked snowflake background paper.ย  Then I layered the cardstock panel with some of my favorite Evergreen prints. Now I have a fun card, and still have my snowflakes, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

AudreyPettit BG Evergreen MerryChristmasCard3Die cut an ornament shape from the edge, and popped another die cut into it’s place. Finished off with a bit of trim, more die cuts, and a pair of pink candy buttons.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Oh Holy Night with BasicGrey

AudreyPettit BG Evergreen OhHolyNightCardHello my friends, and happy Friday! Less than two weeks now until Christmas!ย  And finally, some progress is being made at my house. The tree is up and the house is decorated. Cards and packages are in the mail. Of course there are still a million things left to be done.ย  But for now…it sure feels good to cross a few items off my holiday to-do list.

AudreyPettit BG Evergreen OhHolyNightCard2Today I have a card to share that I made for the BasicGrey blog using their adorable holiday collection, Evergreen. I used one of the 3×4 Snippets to create a bit of framework for both the focal poinsettia flowers and the sentiment, too. Love that the printed images and greetings on the Snippets cards, like these pretty leaf branches on the left side, really help set the scene.

AudreyPettit BG Evergreen OhHolyNightCard3A couple of layers of 6×6 papers. A bit of trim. Lots of pretty die cuts and those jumbo kraft numbers. And, if I squint at it all hard enough, I’m thinking this card might almost be flat enough for a regular envelope. ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Violets are Blue with BasicGrey

Although most of us are trying to get a start on our holiday projects these days, today I am going to do a bit of a time jump and share with you a fun Valentine-inspired card that I made with a brand new line from BasicGrey called J’Adore. J’Adore is the sweetest little lovey-dovey collection, perfect for all your love-themed projects, in a very beautiful and unique color combination for Valentine’s Day. It is quite different from the same ol’, same old… and I think you guys will really like it!

AudreyPettit BG J'Adore VioletsAreBlueAlthough most traditional Valentine’s lines are filled with lots and lots of pink, J’Adore brings a whole new range of colors into the mix, including turquoise, raspberry, and lime and olive green. I created a little love note card here incorporating the whole mix of color for a bit of a different take on the norm. And that really works for me.

AudreyPettit BG J'Adore VioletsAreBlue2

I really love the new vellum envelopes, so let that be the star of my design. I placed a 3×4 Lil’ Snippet card and fancy die cut label shape inside the envelope, then made a stitched liner from plain white cardstock. The little transparency hearts look like they are bubbling right out of the top.

AudreyPettit BG J'Adore VioletsAreBlue3A transparency strip sentiment cut down to size, lots of pretty candy buttons, and a bit of simple twine. I’ve got more details, including the complete supply list and free downloadable project sheet up today on the BasicGrey blog, if you’d like to learn more.

Ok, time to re-wind back into Thanksgiving mode. Tomorrow is my birthday, and this weekend, my boy will be coming home to spend an early Thanksgiving with us. I have so much to be thankful for… so many wonderful blessings. And at the top of that list, I always count YOU, my sweet friends! Thanks so much for stopping by. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Good Times with BasicGrey

The BasicGrey blog has been down for maintenance over the last couple of weeks, but the design team has still been hard at work sharing projects and inspiration on our Facebook page. This week, I created a pair of Second City cards, focusing on some fun and different ways to use the wood laser cuts, and today I would love to share the first of them here with you.

AudreyPettit BG SecondCity GoodTimesCardWooden accents have been all the rage this past year, and they really are a lot of fun to work with. They add amazing dimension and texture to just about any project. For this card, I used a wood leaf paired with a die cut leaf to create a quick and easy focal point for my design. And for a bit of extra detail, I added alternating stripes of color of my leaf using a marker.

AudreyPettit BG SecondCity GoodTimesCard2
It’s just a simple touch, but really adds to the character of that leaf, and turns a simple accent into something more.

AudreyPettit BG SecondCity GoodTimesCard3Yummy gold candy buttons. Just a few paper strips and lots of crisp white. And some stamped borders using the Best Time Ever Spice Market clear stamp set.

Oh, and don’t forget… the Handmade Holidays Blog Hop starts today. Three days of amazing handmade gift ideas from some amazing companies and designers. Each day has a brand new list of stops along the hop, so be sure to visit all three days. It all starts today on the Clearsnap blog. I’ll be back on Sunday for my project share… a little frosty treat on the Therm O Web blog…
