America the Beautiful with CardMaps

Hello, crafty friends and happy 4th of July! I hope my American friends and family have lots of fun plans for this long holiday weekend. My parents are still visiting from California, so we have much to celebrate…. there’s no agenda, but just to be together. And the day may involve some pie.

The start of July brings a new set of CardMaps sketches to the PageMaps website, and I had the great pleasure of making some cards for the reveal. Today it is only fitting to share this patriotic card I made in honor of America’s birthday. Here is the fun sketch that I used.

And here is my take on it using the new America the Beautiful collection from PhotoPlay Paper.

Lots of stars and stripes on this design, and some patriotic flags and buntings perfect for the 4th of July. I tried to follow the sketch closely, even going so far as to break out my old pinking shears to add the zig-zag edging seen in the drawing.

I used Bristol cardstock to match the slightly off-white color of this vintage-inspired collection, and I love the slightly shabby charm of this finished card. The focal die cut circle is layered with stickers, added at different depths with foam dots for a 3D effect. The sentiment and flag banner up top are from the coordinating die cut ephemera pieces. Hip Hip Hooray for the USA!

Happy 4th of July! And thanks so much for stopping by!
