Happy Wednesday, crafty friends! I’m back today with a spooky fun Halloween project share that I made for the Ranger Ink blog this week featuring new dies from Tim Holtz and the amazing new Distress Ink color, Crackling Campfire.
This is the Skelly Colorize Thinlits die set from Tim Holtz, and it is by far one of my top favorite sets from the 2020 Sizzix Chapter 3 release. This set has so much incredible detail in all the layers. It really is amazing what can be done these days with dies. I used a mixture of Distress kraft stock cardstock and Distress watercolor cardstock to build my skull, and finished off with lots of Distress ink, crackle texture paste and grit paste for a really grungy, been in the ground a long time, finish.
The 5×5 card base is layers of cardstock and patterned paper. I used ink, spray, and stencils to create the worn background you see, using a combination of my favorite brown and grey Distress inks mixed with the new Crackling Campfire. I absolutely adore how you can get bright orange, like the bouquet flowers I sprayed and coated with Distress glitter, or more rusty orange, like the background… or even the soft pastel orange of the mummy cloth bow…all from one color of ink.
I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial for this card over on the Ranger Ink Project Page, if you’d like to learn more.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
