Happy Monday, crafty friends! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that your week is getting off to a great start. Today I’m sharing a mixed media art tag that I made for the Ranger Ink Projects Page featuring the fabulous new color of Distress, Speckled Egg.
To make this tag, I began with two graduated sizes of tag shapes which were inked and sprayed and stenciled, and finally stacked together for lots of great dimension. I think I’ve mentioned being obsessed with creating old-world stucco finishes with Ranger crackle texture paste, and I’ve done that here once again. I really do love that paste. I dab it on thick with my fingertip, and then let it do it’s thing. Some areas get heavily sanded for a plaster-like finish, and some stay as is with lots of great crackle effect.
I added some greenery and felt “branches” using the new Tim Holtz Festive Stems Bigz die. The Idea-ology paper doll was colored lightly with Distress Oxide inks and then nestled into the greens. Love how they look like they are towering over the children’s heads, like some secret garden gone wild.
The tags were tied with ribbon and trim, and a quick sentiment was added with an Idea-ology quote band, painted and buffed to a polished shine.
If you would like to learn more about this layered Distress tag, you can find all the instructions and a complete step-by-step tutorial over on the Ranger Ink Projects Page.
