2020 Summer Home Tour- Part 1

Hello friends, happy Monday! Here we are at the end of June already, with the 4th of July right around the corner and summer well underway. Definitely time to start sharing my summer home tour. Today I thought we’d start in my dining room.

I know things are very different this year with everything that is happening in the world around us. So now, perhaps more than ever, is the perfect time to make our homes as cheery and cozy as possible. For me, the summer months are all about patriotic and nautical decor, mixed in with lots of red, white, and blue.

On my dining room table, I’ve spread a vintage embroidered tablecloth and stacked the center with a large wooden tray filled with lots of fun things. A pile of vintage and patriotic linens, a floral stem, vintage glassware and an old strawberry jar that belonged to my grandmother. And a pair of my beloved Lori Mitchell figurines.

On the antique sideboard is more figures and my collection of vintage red and blue transferware dishes.

As most of you know by now, I really like to bundle. So I try to add in lots of containers that are perfect for stacking, bundling, and piling.

The bottom row has an antique scale and toolbox that can hold many things. I’ve stacked both with transferware and linens. The toolbox has some Americana paper fans and a few other wee treasures.

The metal piece in the center row is a vintage chicken feeder. The red box on the left is an old metal lunchbox that was in my dad’s family when he was a kid.

On the top is a vintage Coca-Cola crate and an ironstone tray, also perfect for holding stacks of goodies.

As you know, I started up cross-stitching again this year after many year’s break, and so I’m always drawn to stitchy things. These tiny round pieces were a find from a thrift store. I got a whole bag of them for only $1. Unfortunately there were only a couple of the months of the year in the bag, and only one little fruit. I know it’s not July yet…. but it’s close enough.

The summer scene behind the stitching is a card that my mother just sent me that has a wonderful ocean view.

You may notice that I don’t match my dishes. I just love a mishmash of them all!

The dining room definitely has a patriotic flair, while other areas of the house have a distinct beach vibe. I’ll share more of that another day.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be well!
