Happy Monday, crafty friends! Can you believe we are into August already? Where has the summer gone? I know that, technically, August is still full-on summer…. and it’s certainly hot enough around here…. but it’s pretty much back to school time for my kiddos, and that always feels like the end. Pete left for Richmond Friday morning to start his second year of pharmacy school. And my Missy Nik left this weekend, too. Thought I’d hold onto summer for a few more moments with my project share for today. A beach themed summer tag that I made for the Ranger Ink projects page.
One of the best things about summer is going on vacation and all the fun adventures that await. The beach is just about my most favorite place to visit, and that’s what inspired me on this art tag featuring seashell and coral (floral) dies from Tim Holtz and a cool summer palette of Distress. I used a pair of Stamper’s Anonymous stencils, including one of the newer shifter stencils, to create the background. Love how the dots make me think of water bubbles, and the stripes remind me of how light affects water at different levels. I’m totally ready for the beach.
I’ve got the full tutorial and step by step instructions for this project up on the Ranger Ink Projects Page, if you’d like to learn more.
I’m sneaking off to the beach for a few days next week. A little end-of-summer fling before fall really sets in. I’m hoping to collect a few shells like this one, and bob in the ocean waves. I know there’s sharks to worry about… but I just can’t stay away.
How about you? Any last summer plans ahead?
