Patriotic DIY Decor with Therm O Web

You all know by now that I just can’t let a holiday go by without a little seasonal decorating to go along. And as tomorrow is the 4th of July celebration here in the States, I wanted to share a super quick and easy DIY framed decor project that I made recently for the Therm O Web blog.

This American flag frame blends in perfectly with my summer-themed patriotic decor, and I love how easy it was to put together using some basic supplies that you may already have on hand. The frame itself is an old cheapie that I picked up at my local thrift store, with just such a project in mind. I removed the glass and gave the wood a quick whitewash of paint, then made a DIY fabric canvas using the chipboard backing that comes with the frame.

The stars and stripes were masked using dies from the GinaK Designs line and Purple Tape. I’ve got the full step-by-step tutorial, including some tips for creating the masks, up on the Therm O Web blog if you’d like to learn more.

I hope all my friends and family in the States have a wonderful 4th of July holiday! Any special plans in the works? I’ve got both of my college kids home this week, so this ol’ mama is celebrating big!
