Another month has zipped past, and here we are at summer already…. well, a few days shy of the official season, but the kiddos are off and it feels like summertime to me. Today I’m back to share a card that I made for a special feature article for Ranger in the springtime issue (issue 186) of Simply Cards & Papercraft Magazine. This bright butterfly card features lots of pretty colors of Ranger Distress, of course, and favorite dies and stamps from Tim Holtz. Seems very fitting for the season ahead.
That awesome butterfly is from the Flutter stamp set by Tim Holtz and Stamper’s Anonymous, and was die cut with the matching Sizzix die. I used a range of blue Distress inks to watercolor the image, and added white gel pen dots for detailing and a bit of black thread for antennae. The Garden Greens die cuts used for the foliage were watercolored with Distress, too. Sentiment is a mixture of Idea-ology metallic cardstock stickers with one of the Tim Holtz Shadow Script die sets.
Stitched Rectangle dies were used to create the inlaid frame. Basic black and white cardstock for the base and layers, with a bit of Distress cardstock for color. One of the awesome Tim Holtz shifter stencils (Diamonds) was used to make the fun angled panel in the background, too.
If you happened to pick up the spring Simply Cards & Papercraft issue, you’ll find the full step-by-step instructions for this card in the special Ranger insert.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope your summer is off to a great start, and is filled with many grand adventures!
