As you all know by now, I don’t like to let a holiday pass without a bit of seasonal decorating. And that is especially true for the 4th, when I deck my house out in Americana for the summer. Today I have one last patriotic home decor project to share that I made with Photo Play Paper’s adorable Red, White, & Blue collection. And I thought we could take a wee house tour while we were at it, too.
The Red, White, & Blue collection has really fabulous printed journaling cards, which make really easy home decor projects, like this cute 5×7 altered desk frame. I gave the frame a quick whitewash and sanding, and then added a thin line of patterned paper trim around the inside edge of the frame. The 4×6 journaling card was dressed up with a few cardstock stickers and embellished with Ranger crackle paste and ink in all four corners, then layered with a pair of patterned papers. I like to remove the glass from frames so that I can build up depth with lots of foam adhesive without any limitations.
Best thing about small frame projects is that they can fit in just about anywhere. This one is on top of my antique butler’s chest in the sunroom, along with lots of other patriotic pieces collected or passed down through the years. I hope you enjoy taking a little peek.
