We’re having some fun on the Therm O Web blog this week. The team has joined up with our friends at Newton’s Nook to share a week of project inspiration ideas mixing Therm O Web’s deco foil line with Newton’s adorable stamps and dies.
I am up on the Therm O Web blog today with several mix-up cards, and I thought I would share the first of them here with you, too. This bright and happy birthday card features new iCraft Deco Foil designer stencils and one of my favorite new colors of deco foil, denim. The stamps and dies are the super cute Sending Hugs set from Newton’s Nook.
Therm O Web released a handful of new stencils at the Creativations show in January, and I played around with two of them to create the layered background here. The bottom layer stencil was inked. And the top layer was foiled using transfer gel and new denim foil. Gives a bit of a psychedelic look doesn’t it? Like sparklers or fireworks. Fitting for a little birthday celebration.
I always love a side view of a deco foil design. It really helps to show its beautiful textured metallic shine. I added in layers of crisp white cardstock to ground the patterned papers. The images were colored with Zig markers, die cut, and placed in a simple frame. A light watercolor wash of Distress ink was added to the back of the frame for contrast, and a single cross-stitched X at the top of the frame pulls in the colors from the patterned papers.
Pop by the Therm O Web blog for a full tutorial on this stenciled and foiled background, if you’d like to learn more. And be sure to check out all the blog posts on the Therm O Web blog and the Newton’s Nook blog this week, and leave comments for a chance to win some fabulous prizes. The more comments you leave throughout the week, the more chances of winning.
Good luck, friends! And thanks so much for stopping by!
