Today I have a fun and silly project to share that I made recently for the Sizzix blog. My dear friend, Joanne, is a huge cat lover. Last week was her birthday, so of course that meant I was in need of some festive gift wrapping. Sounds like a perfect excuse to break out Tim Holtz’s adorable Crazy Cats, right?
Does this ever happen to you? You purchase something online, just to have it be not at all what you were expecting when it arrives? That’s the case with these kraft tags. Thought I was getting the regular tags, but ended up with the jumbos, size #10. This large 4×8 size is new to me, but sometimes new is fun. And this ended up being the perfect size for a little collage style mixed-media Crazy Cats gift tag.
I used the new Mixed Media #3 Thinlits set to create some cuts outs in the background of the tag. The cat perches are made from strips of embossed water-colored cardstock. I gave the cats a little “4 U” sentiment to pounce on, but as you can see… they really don’t know what to think of that.
I backed the tag with more cardstock, water-colored with a variety of Distress inks in Joanne’s favorite color palette. The tag is swiped and splattered with paint for that shabby look that I love. And I used the new Distress crazing medium in all the little openings for a bit of extra texture.
