I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I am just returning from a lovely four-day scrapping retreat at the beach with the girls. It was a trip postponed from last October, when a hurricane interrupted our plans. And although that was sad at the time, I sure didn’t mind being off at the beach this weekend. It was even nice enough for several walks along the shore, before turning rainy and cold on Sunday. Regardless, there’s truly nothing like girl time to lift the spirits.
A couple of gals slipped away before this photo, but here’s the rest of us as we were packing up to leave. That room behind us was our cropping space. We had that entire building all to ourselves, which was rather brilliant on the retreat center’s part, as I hear we can get pretty loud….. 😉
Today I have another altered frame home decor project to share. This time, an Easter frame that I made for the Therm O Web blog featuring a fun way to use up those ribbon scraps.
Among some of my other crafty obsessions, I do have quite a “thing” for ribbon, and am always looking for different ways to use them in my crafting projects. This basic idea, of lining the inside of a negative shape with ribbon strips, is a great way to use up some of that ribbon stash, even some of those small pieces that a few of us like to hoard.
With Easter quickly approaching, I took this opportunity to create some spring decor. But I love that this idea can be done in any shape or size, for any holiday, season, or occasion you wish. I had a bunch of adorable polka dotted trims from May Arts that I thought would be perfect for my Easter egg, and some vintage ric rac from my grandmother’s collection, too. So bright and happy. Perfect for spring.
I added a big puffy bow and stamped sentiment strips. Patterned paper from BasicGrey’s Saturday Morning collection. And one of my funky junk thrift store painted frames. Super easy and fun.
