Breathing a small sigh of relief this morning, as the second of three CHA boxes is packaged up and on its way. 22 projects are now under my belt and out the door. My gosh, it feels really good to say that. I’m still waiting on product to arrive to start tackling my third, and last, set of projects, though. Nothing like going down to the very wire. But for today at least, I can take a moment to catch my breath.
After months of holiday projects, I’m enjoying playing with the brighter colors and patterns of the new springtime collections. This is a peek of one of Authentique’s new lines called Flourish. Perfect for spring and Easter, as well as right on into summer. I pulled out a couple of my favorite prints to craft up these sweet treat containers using a variety of fabulous Sizzix dies, including the new Thinlits Milk Carton Box die that I just adore.
These little boxes are so cute, and so versatile, too. I packed mine full of chocolates for a quick and easy gift idea, just because. But this container could easily hold any number of sweets or small gift items. I even die cut a small peek-a-boo window for a glimpse of the goodies inside. So fun, and really easy, too. Here’s a few simple steps to show you how.
First, die cut the Milk Carton Box from your favorite patterned paper. To cut the opening, lay a scalloped circle die, cutting side down, onto the center of one of the scored panels on the box pattern. The new Magnetic Platform will help hold your die perfectly in place, but if you don’t have one, a small piece of tape will keep the die from slipping.
Remove the circle cut and fold along all score lines.
Cut a small piece of clear transparency or recycled plastic packaging to fit the opening. Lay the box pattern, right side down, and add strong adhesive to the top and bottom of the die cut opening to secure the plastic.
Then a bit more red line adhesive along the side flap to close the box.
And finally a bit more on two of the bottom flaps to seal the box shut. Then fill up your box and tie it up with ribbon.
Now we’ll add some gift tags. I used the adorable Sizzix/Doodlebug Designs Tags Stamp & Die Cut set for mine. Simply stamp the tag image onto paper, and use the Magnetic Platform to perfectly line up the matching die.
I layered my tags with cutie pie Flourish banner stickers, tied up with twine.
