“Glistening” Ornaments with Authentique

I can’t help noticing, as I sit here bundled up in my fleece and blanket, how unseasonably cold it has become for November. I know many folks are encountering their first snowfalls of the year already, although it seems way to early for all of that. Here in the heart of North Carolina, we’ve been spared so far. But there has been talk. Rumors. And it sure feels cold enough to snow.

AudreyPettit-Glistening-StockingsOn a chilly day like today, it seems only fitting to share a chilly project with you, made with Authentique’s adorable new winter collection, Glistening.

These cutie pie little stockings are a new Sizzix die by Brenda Walton. Once assembled, they are the perfect size for holding a gift card, or they can be filled with any number of small treats. Add a wire or ribbon hanger, like mine, and you have an instant ornament or decoration. Love the idea of tying these onto the tops of my holiday packages.

AudreyPettit-Glistening-Stockings3I paper pieced my stockings using a variety of Glistening patterned papers, and added a bit of machine stitching and inked edges for extra detail. The cuffs were decorated with some of my favorite things…treasured vintage lace, felt snowflakes, paper rosettes, vintage buttons, seam binding and twine. I’ve got the complete step by step directions up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more.

AudreyPettit-Glistening-Stockings4Thanks so much for stopping by today! Stay warm, my friends!

  2. AHH! I can’t handle the cute (again)! I have such a penchant for taupes and turquoise and these little beauties fit right in! Such a lovely mix of color and pattern and those peppermint sticks are the perfect pop of Christmas cheer!

Delightful! I can’t get these onto my Ornament Pinboard fast enough 🙂

  3. these are adorable! I just love the way you mixed the colors and patterns and created those darling little toppers! I was thinking of playing with some stocking shapes today, lol. I was flipping thru some older Northridge Pub magazines and saw a bunch of your projects! Awesome!

  4. It’s so flippn’ cold here, this warm and sunny girl is not laughing! I am a solar powered girl you see! However, your creations make me smile and make me feel all better! I love the colors papers and those sweet little stockings! Another fabulous creation!

  5. Gorgeous little stockings… how cute! Brenda Walton has some fabulous dies out at the moment! Love the paper covering too and the little rosettes are sweet, a lovely finishing touch. I saw on the news here in Australia how cold it has suddenly become and unseasonably in the US… the show were interviewing people scurrying down streets to get out of the weather (and snow)

  6. Could these be any sweeter! The paper piecing is perfect in that beautiful color combo. I can so see those little stockings as a sweet garland. Beautiful my friend!
