Spooky Sweets

This week, the Authentique team is having some fun blog hopping with two product partners, Basically Bare and Art Anthology. If you’re not familiar with them, Basically Bare makes unique chipboard shapes and albums, while Art Anthology is the maker of cool paints, glazes, and mists. And that means all sorts of mixed-media fun this week. We’ve got tons of inspiration for you on all three blogs, and lots of great prizes to give away, too. I hope you’ve had the chance to come and play along.

For my project, I received this chipboard binder album along with lots of fun shapes and paints, and was asked to create something using Authentique’s fabulous Halloween collection, Thrilling. Now that my kiddos have gotten older, I don’t really have many Halloween photos to scrap these days. But after a bit of pondering, I knew just what to do. I may not have little trick or treaters at my house anymore, but I do have loads of something else Halloween….recipes.

AudreyPettit-Thrilling-SpookySweetsRecipeBook2Since I have a ton of recipes, I know it will be easy for me to fill a whole album. And with the binder format, I can continue to add page inserts with new recipes as I go.

The Art Anthology Dimensional Paint has a beautiful, sparkly shine to it when seen up close. Gives the look of added glitter without all the mess. I used Black Leather Jacket paint over the whole of my album, as well as on the embossed cardstock and around the edges of most everything else. Orange Dimensional Paint and a fabulous chevron mask from the Crafter’s Workshop make an interesting pattern on the background.

AudreyPettit-Thrilling-SpookySweetsRecipeBook3The spiderwebs I made using Basically Bare chipboard Gears and Art Anthology Crystal Glaze. Sprinkled silver glitter over the glaze while it was still wet, then embellished with a few vintage buttons and a creepy die cut spider.

Tied the spine with pretty May Arts trim and hemp.

And made simple recipe page inserts.

The way I’m going pinning pumpkin and apple recipes on Pinterest, I’ll have this album filled in no time!

I’ve got the complete step-by-step directions for this recipe binder up on the Authentique blog, if you’d like to learn more. And be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win an amazing Authentique prize package while you are there. Thanks so much for stopping by, my friends! Wishing you all a wonderful day!
