Golden Monday

Morning everyone!  Here we are, off to start another week already.  And what a beautiful start it has been.  We are having unseasonably warm weather.  It feels like a touch of summer has come back to grace us with her warmth one last time.  I’ve been enjoying watching the golden sun arc through my windows this morning and light upon the Thanksgiving decorations on my dining room table.  It seems almost magical.

I had the most wonderful weekend.  Lots of my favorite shops and nurseries were having their annual holiday open houses.  I spent many an hour over the last several days ooohing and ahhhing over all the pretties.  I am always especially awed over the amazing ways folks can decorate Christmas trees.  Wish I had the same knack, but I’m not quite there.  It sure is fun to try, though.

Spent yesterday at a local farm for one last Fall fling.  Could not have had more perfect weather.  It was just heaven to walk around and look at the animals and watch my friend’s son climb in the corn crib and slide down the giant tube slide and ride the ponies.  The highlight had to have been the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch where we were all allowed to select one pumpkin.  Nik and I have plans to turn ours into a turkey.  Visions of feathers and pipe cleaners and paint and construction paper are floating in our heads.  Can’t wait to see what we come up with. 🙂

And now in scrappy news, I have a fun Fall page to share that I made for the current challenge over at the Creative Pandemonium blog.  I scrapped photos of our recent trip to the gourd farm where we went on the “spooky” hayride.

The challenge is to use some circles, some scallops, and the color of kraft.  Used a lot of my older goodies on this.  Patterned paper is a combination of Webster’s Pages and Pink Paislee.  I used two different Basic Grey chipboard alphas for my title work, including one in kraft to fit the challenge requirements.  I made several circles from kraft cardstock, stitched them onto my layout, and layered them with Heidi Swapp ghost clocks and an Imagination Project chipboard date circle.

Scallops were added with some golden ric-rac and eyelet trim from Making Memories.  I tucked one of my photos into the flourishes of a Little Yellow Bicycle die-cut frame.  A few felt leaves, an October rub-on, and touches of trim complete the page.

Hope you all have a chance to play along with this fun challenge, and as always, thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Ah yes, how lovely the weather was for the past few days. Now back to some norman fall weather and rain. Love the photos of the sun streaming in on your table/decorations! And your page is fantastic, as usual!

  2. I’m ready for some cold weather and lots of snow! I have been hearing that we are going to have a cold winter this year, I hope it’s true! Love your Thanksgiving decorations so much! Awesome layout, what a fun trip! I have a couple books on gourd painting but have yet to try it.
