Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all are enjoying this long holiday weekend.   I spent the day today in the northern section of the state visiting with an aunt, uncle and cousin of mine who I rarely get to see. They drove halfway down from Virginia, and we drove halfway up from NC.  How fun that was, and what a nice visit we had.  We were calculating that it’s been an entire decade since I’ve seen my cousin.  Oh, how quickly time flies.

I’ve still been concentrating on making my holiday thank-you cards this week.  I received a very special stamp as a gift recently, and made this card in honor of my sweet little hedgehog buddy, Sonic.

Hey Sugar paper from Cosmo Cricket that I’ve had forever in my stash and never used….  Stamp is from Hampton Art.  Die-cut from K&Co, trim from Making Memories, rub-on from Pebbles, Inc., and chipboard frame from Creative Cafe.    Lots of oldies but goodies on here. ;)

I sanded the chipboard piece to remove some of the brightness, and added a touch of glitter to my hedgehog’s quills.  Now he’s ready for his close-up. Also used my border punch from Stampin’Up to create the scalloped edge on the striped paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek.  Happy New Year!

Hello everyone!  Have you all made your New Year’s Resolutions yet?  Today is the day to be thinking about that.  I’ve decided to revive last year’s resolution……have a good time, all the time.  Sounds like a winner to me. :)

I’ve felt in the mood for some flowers after all the Christmas cards, so broke out some of my bright and happy papers today to play along with the current sketch over at 2sketches4you.

Papers by MAMBI, rub-on from Pebbles, Inc.  The scalloped trim is from Making Memories’ Animal Crackers line.  Also added some Imaginisce trim and a button from MME.  Ran the card through my sewing machine for some finishing details.

And here is Laura’s sketch #42 for you all to play along.

Be sure to check out the website for a ton of inspiration from the designers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you all have a fabulous evening tonight, and be safe.  Think we might be breaking out the bubbly and having ourselves a round of dominoes. ;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Good evening everyone!  Two days and counting.  Christmas is almost here.  I really like these last few days before the big day……I’ve finished the to-do list, for the most part, and can kick back with my family and enjoy.  I was just sitting on the couch chatting with my mom and gazing upon the tree and all the pretty lights and decorations.  These are the moments I want to savor. It doesn’t get any better than this.

With all the activity this last week, I haven’t been doing much scrapping, but I do have a few more photos of some of my decorations to share tonight.

I call this area my “gold ensemble”.  All my gold colored pieces ended up going here, including my gorgeous new gold tree I received for a present.  I am so excited about that tree.  I’m already thinking it will be a perfect “fall” tree for next year.  I don’t have many ornaments for it yet.  Perfect excuse to do some more shopping. Mom did bring me her collection of clear glass ornaments she had collected over the years which look pretty on the new tree.  I also have my wooden creche figures from when my kiddos were babies on the plate rack by my easy chair.  I got in the habit of putting them down low so that the kids could easily reach and play with them, and the tradition has just stuck with me.  Funny how little things like that happen without you even realizing it.

And although I haven’t been doing much in the way of scrapping, I do have one quick card to share.

Old Paper Salon papers, which I still love to pieces, Webster’s trims, and Prima crystals.  Added a little machine stitching and a rub-on greeting from Pebbles, Inc.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope to see you all tomorrow!

12 days of Christmas Crop

Hi everyone!  Today’s Webster’s Pages Christmas Crop project is being hosted by guest designer, Wendy Kwok.  I have fallen in love with her family frame in a big way, and can’t wait to try out this technique myself.  After joining her in the chat this morning, visions of frame projects are swimming in my head.  I can see lots of Christmas gifts in my future with this one.  Here’s a little peek of Wendy’s project.

For complete instructions on this project and to see all the crop information, go here.   I will be showing my holiday project on Wednesday the 18th.  I hope to see all of you over at inspireME then.  I will be hosting a chat at 5 pm EST on the 18th to answer any questions you all might have.  We also will be giving away a prize!  Good enough reason to stop by!

And for a quick scrappy item from me, I have my card for the Cardalicious blog to share.  The new challenge is to create a Thank-You card using flowers and the colors red and black.

091106-Thank-You

I used a combination of patterned papers from Pink Paislee, Basic Grey, and Jillibean on this card.  Made my first accordion pleated flower and topped it with a touch of trim and some red berries from a holiday pick.  The die-cut shape is from the Pink Paislee journaling card sheet that I cut out from its background.  I added two rows of Heidi Swapp bling and a simple thank you rub on from Pebbles, Inc.

Have a great evening, everyone!
