Rusty Bucket

Hi everyone! Happy, happy Saturday to you! I am such a happy camper right now. A couple extra hours of sleep, no alarm clock jarring you awake, and a leisurely cup of coffee= one happy girl. I wish every day could be a weekend day!

Last night, the official fall-activity schedule kicked off in our neck of the woods with a Fall Open House at one of my favorite local shops, the Rusty Bucket. I look forward to this every year, being the serious Halloween-lover that I am.  I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Of course I brought my camera along, so I could share it all with you. ‘Cause I know you all love Halloween as much as I do, right? Snicker, snort!

The Rusty Bucket is known for their early-Americana, county-style primitives. They fill their shop with antiques found on old farmsteads and one-of-a-kind, handcrafted items from local artists. There’s always something unique and special, every time I visit.

Such a fun, happy place! Charming on the inside, and welcoming on the outside, for those who’d like to just sit a spell.

The Rusty Bucket

Good morning, sweet friends! Are you all having a fabulous weekend so far? Any fun plans on the agenda? I have been having the most wonderful time. Last night, one of my favorite shops in town kicked off their annual fall open house, and of course I wouldn’t have missed that for the world. I look so forward to this event every year. You all know how I love fall…….and Halloween……and decorations. Sigh.

I brought my camera along. Would you all like to take a little tour with me?

Here we are outside the shop. And the outside is just as charming as the inside. Don’t you love this vintage car? Picture also several old wooden barrels outside with painted checker boards and checker sets with stools to go around, and townsfolk spending a lovely evening hanging out together. Picture also a wooden wheelbarrow filled with autumn flowers and windows filled with glorious displays. Now you know just where we are.

This wooden pumpkin came home with me, too, as an early birthday present from my dear friend. Thank YOU, Kathy! thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!

The owner, Pam, told us it had been crafted by a local man in town and is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. That’s just one of the things I love about the Rusty Bucket. So many of their items are hand-made by local craftsmen and artisans.

Spooktacular!

Hi everyone!  Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday weekend.  I have been having the most marvelous last few days.  Since Thursday, I’ve been doing all sorts of playing and cavorting, including hanging out with my best girlfriends, shopping, scrapping, and eating out.  What could be better than that?  Honestly!   Truly nothing much could top that list……..except to perhaps throw a little Halloween goodness in there, as well.  I know it’s only the first week of September, but I am in the mood.  Of course it doesn’t hurt that I stopped off  at one of my all-time favorite places, and saw enough Halloween decorations to jump start even the most luke-warm of spirits.  I’m thinking I need to get a job there, just so I can purchase pretties all year long!  This place NEVER fails to put a smile on my face.  Check out these great photos I got.

So now that I got you in a Halloweeny mood, I will share my page for the current challenge over at the Creative Pandemonium blog.  I scrapped one of my favorite photos of Nik on Halloween night about 4 years ago.  She called this costume her “elephant trainer” outfit.

She is just too cute to spook, isn’t she?  Hence the irony of the title, “something wicked this way comes”.  Meant to be a little bit of a joke there.   The challenge is to use some sort of stitching, hand journaling, and non-alphabet stickers.  I used zig-zag rub-on stitches, hand-written journaling strips, and some Creative Imaginations stickers for my challenge requirements.  Paper and orange, chipboard alphabet is from Little Yellow Bicycle.  I covered a Melissa Francis chipboard bat with patterned paper and added gemstone eyes for a bit of Halloween-themed fun, and finished off my title work with some older Reminisce alpha rub-ons from my stash.  Always love using old stash items!
