A Happy Home

This past weekend, we got our very first snowfall of the winter. It wasn’t much to speak of, it’s true, but we were happy. Everything looks so pretty with a fresh blanket of white. On Tuesday, Nik and I made sure we got outside to play before the last snowflakes melted. We had to search a bit, but we did manage to find a pile of slush on the back deck, from which we built a little snowman.

The first snowman was so fun, we decided to build a second. Then we had a momma snowman and a baby snowman, just for me and Nik.

Then to make sure little Crissy didn’t feel left out, we built her a snowman, too.

Within an hour or so, our snow family had melted away.

But what fun while it lasted.

Today I wanted to share one of the projects I created for the GCD Studios CHA booth featuring Donna Salazar’s new collections. I combined papers from both Storybook and Botanique, along with stamps from Donna’s Art Gone Wild line, to create this sweet happy home wall hanging. The bright yellow and blue of these papers, mixed with cool tones of gray, just make me smile.

The base is made from Donna’s corrugated board. I added a chipboard house covered in pretty papers to the center. Created stitched doors and windows and dressed the eaves in scallops and trim. A banner made from Donna’s Alphas and a hand-stamped sentiment span the little house. Flowers in the form of die cut denim and fussy cut stamped images add the finishing touch.
