It’s time for a new challenge at The Kraft Journal. This week’s theme is Easter Celebrations.
As many of you know, one of my most favorite parts of any holiday celebration is decorating my home with seasonal items. It adds a festive flair to the house and makes each holiday feel special. And most importantly of all, my kids just love it. So for this week’s challenge, I created a fun Easter egg pillow to dress up my sunroom using Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock, patterned papers, and a few special goodies from The Kraft Outlet.
The body of the egg is made from nested layers of kraft cardstock and Webster’s Pages patterned papers, in one of my favorite color combinations, blue and brown. Inked edges and machine stitching call attention to each individual layer. The front was stitched to a backing, leaving enough of an opening to insert some stuffing before stitching closed.
I just cannot get enough of handmade flowers these days. I created this one using a variety of flower and scalloped circle punches with patterned paper and Vintage Dictionary Pages lightly spritzed with gold Glimmer Mist. I topped it off with an old silver button that was my grandmother’s. A keepsake I will treasure forever.
The egg is wrapped in Natural Twill Tying Tape and tied with a layered bow of twill, Victoria Seam Binding, hemp cord, and another of Grandma’s buttons.
I think perhaps my favorite part is the blue leaves I stitched and cut with pinking shears from cream felt. Blue leaves? You betcha!
A special handmade project needs a Uniquely Handmade stamp, don’t you think?
Well, I think so! If I don’t sign and date this baby, I will NEVER remember when I made this.
I do hope you’ll play along with us this week at The Kraft Journal. The lucky winner of this month’s drawing will receive a $15 voucher to shop at The Kraft Outlet. You have until 6 pm EST on Sunday the 24th to upload your kraft Easter Celebration projects. Can’t wait to see what you all create!

Gorgeous! I didn’t realize it wasn’t a card until I popped over here. How fun! I love the color scheme and the twine and your grandmother’s buttons. Oh, and the dictionary paper, too! Just fabulous!!!
Funny thing . . . I made a shaped egg card (didn’t quite finish it) out of kraft, ivory, robin’s egg blue paper, and dictionary paper and then saw this lovely at The Kraft Journal DT blog. I stopped in my tracks and made a different project the next day. I didn’t want us to have the same project two weeks in a row. Isn’t that funny? LOL Yours is much nicer anyway.
