Hi everyone! Happy Friday! It’s always so exciting when another weekend rolls around, isn’t it? And I have to say that I’m starting off this weekend with a really lucky break. We had a small lapse in the rain and gloom earlier, so my friend, Terri, and I decided to take advantage of it and go for a walk around one of our local lakes. She brought her Goldendoodle and I brought my neighbor’s Springer Spaniel, who I am pet sitting.

So…….we get half way around the lake, and I realize that I’ve lost my phone out of my pocket. What a horrible feeling. I just tell Terri I want to turn around and re-trace our steps, even though I feel it’s probably pretty useless to do so, and suddenly her phone rings. She looks at it and tells me that it’s me calling. Apparently, someone found my phone and picked it up and put it on a picnic table, and another woman saw it and started calling people in my address book until she happened to get Terri. They were walking around the lake the other way, so we kept going and eventually I got my phone back. Is that not the nicest story? Proof that there truly are good people out there who do great things. I’m still thanking my lucky stars hours later. And even with all the phone confusion and the dog yanking on me, I got some fun pictures, too.

Painted turtles sunning themselves on a long log in the water. I used to work with these guys years ago, so they make me smile.

And a little bit further on we ran into this beautiful creature.

And now, of course, it’s raining again. And cold. And gloomy. Yuck. But at least I have my phone!
In scrappy news, we are having our monthly Paper-Playground crop tomorrow night that I am definitely looking forward to. I hope that if you all are ever in the Raleigh/Durham area, you will look us up! I also have this week’s card for the Cardalicious blog to share. Challenge #18 is to use circles and stars and some kind of stitching on a card project. Here is what I did.

This card is a fun combination of several of our previous Paper-Playground kits. I still LOVE this older October Afternoon line of paper. Don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. I used some templates to create the circle and the star and hand-stitched the star outline for detailing. To the circle, I added a metallic rub-on from Little Yellow Bicycle and several smaller star rubs from October Afternoon. I also continued the star rub-ons across the length of the ribbon. Love that look, and it’s so easy to do.
You all have a couple of weeks now to join in on this fun challenge. I would love to see what you do. Link me up if you play along!
Have a great weekend everyone!
