Yes, the Random Chaos challenge blog just turned 20……..
Feels like a little milestone to me and also gives me a moment of pause to think about how quickly 20 weeks can go by and what a fun ride this has been. I have enjoyed each and every week of the challenges and prompts that get my creative juices flowing and get me scrapping! Every once in awhile one of these challenges will take me a bit out of my comfort zone, but to me that is a wonderful thing. I do love to try new things and am open to most ideas……..at least once! And that’s the whole idea of this challenge blog anyway. So if you think you’re up for a good challenge, be sure to check out the Random Chaos blog and play along.
This week’s challenge is fairly simple….just use felt and ribbon on your layout. Pretty easy, right? And open to so many different interpretations. The design team gals came up with all sorts of great ideas. Here is what I did.
Look at me and my brother, Paul. Weren’t we little cuties?? And look at how blond I used to be! My mom had a portrait package when we were little and would get these formal photos taken about every year or so. This one was taken when I was 2.
I am just in love with all the Melissa Frances product I used for this page. Everything came from the fabulous June kit from Paper-Playground, except for the few gems. This kit seemed just right for these photos, and even came with a felt alphabet from American Crafts. Perfect for the felt challenge! I mean that’s so easy, it’s almost like cheating…….so then I added a small felt photo corner that I made out of some scrap craft felt. This kit has a gorgeous embossed, satin ribbon that I really wanted to showcase for this challenge. I like the formality of the ribbon pleated to match the theme of my formal page. And lastly, sanding the Core’dinations cardstock until the white core showed through gave this whole page a older, vintage feel that really matched the age of the photos and gave me the overall look I was hoping to achieve.
Have a great day everyone!
